Enjoyed every hour of our stay here at 23 Lovelane, high quality amenities and facilities in this humble classic old folk hotel.

A short lane, left and right on both sides are small bars. Christmas Eve is relatively cold, there is no popularity, but also appear not messy.

Visited during the Penang International Jazz Festival 2017 opening ceremony. The ambience is cool and there's an air-well inside.

The hotel was nice but it could be better and cleaner and less haunting about that place. It can be more modern.

Beautifully preserved building. Nice friendly staff. Eeriely haunting at night thus not recommended to stay alone. Mosquitoes not welcomed at all. They should eradicate the source instead of using mosquito coils.

Fantastic colonial and rustic hotel very very quaint. Room is super clean and extremely comfortable. Location perfect for exploring georgetown. Staff cannot be more helpful. Lovely place to stay7

Boutique heritage hotel in an historic part of Penang. Spacious and comfortable room was nicely furnished and decorated. You are staying in close quarters with others in a tourist area so you accept that there will be some occasional people and traffic noise. We suffered a few overnight mosquito bites during our four night stay. This was despite using a number of supplied insecticide measures. With insect bourn disease like Dengue prevalent, the hotel should really do a better job of providing protection to guests. Either properly seal the room against mosquito entry, or provide a bed net. The local area is a backpacker zone, but don't let that put you off; there are many good cafes, galleries, street art and unique shops in easy walking distance. Would recommend, but do see if you can find a room with a bed net.

Really nice service, comfortable room, very clean, relax area at lobby, good location, just the shower water was not hot enough and breakfast was disappointed.

Beautiful heritage botique hotel with excellent and friendly staff. Near the action in Georgetown but nestled in a quiet area further down Love Lane.

Summary based on one night stay: Great location in a beautiful heritage property with very nice grounds. Very friendly and helpful staff. Got an upgrade to one of the best suite rooms and, frankly, it will be hard to stay anywhere else. Quiet, good aircon and Wi-Fi. Stairs for some rooms with no lift. Very good breakfast in adjoining restaurant. In reading some of the negative reviews, I think they may have possibly been for nearby budget properties. Highly recommended.

The place is really quaint, and exudes old-world charm. Stayed in the family room which is a split-level facility and 2 bathrooms. Suitable for 4 or 5 persons. They serve an afternoon tea which is such a treat after walking around. The staff are really nice and helpful. This is now my favourite place in Penang.

Good and most importantly cheap hostel. With breakfast and good internet. For this price there will not be much comfort-you should understand it. For extra money will give both air con and blanket and towel. It is clean and the main thing cheerful and friendly host. It will prompt and tell a lot of useful-the main thing to ask!
The best hostel in George Town. The lowest prices in town, so you must understend it'll not be the most comfortable. But Here you have breakfast and good Wi-Fi. The owner can help with any tourist question.

My wife and I had a wonderful time over 3 nights at 23 LoveLane. The hotel is an oasis of calm in old George Town. It consists of an excellent set of beautifully restored houses, all together on one site, linked by a courtyard. The rooms are really attractive, each with their own character. The staff, especially the manager, are most cooperative. A restaurant, Steak Frites, is attached to the hotel and serves the complimentary, generous full breakfasts and also, for supper, exquisite … you guessed it, steak frites. We recommend most highly.

Stopped in as it peeked my curiosity as I walked by. It's a very cute chic B&B in the heart of Penang, Malaysia. They have clothes, jewelry and art for sale inside. It also serves as a small coffee house that serves some food as well. Great service!

Location is good near around places of interest cafes and heritage sites, accommodation is clean and well maintained yet preserving the rich architectural history having to stay here is like tunneling back in time! Who we were before and what we are now! Hats off to the staff always greets with a smile staff hospitality is as rich as Penang culture u'll have to come stay and experience ur self my special commendation to the Chinese uncle who is always on night duty who brings durian to me every morning Thank u!

Most lovely traditional hotel and most friendly staff.

The management is dishonest, changes rooms, keeps guests in the dark about loud repairs and is not helpful nor provides compensation. The hotel is a dressed up bed and breakfast, and at those prices it is not worth it. What a let down.

Great place for stay in the old city! Feel like going back in time.

Charming building with hospitable staff. Central location with easy access to lots of sights/eateries on foot and also to buses.

Nice place for budget visitors (~RM 30/bed, shared dorm 4-12 people). Near Penang central, near nice food stalls. No comment on safety and security, but should be ok.
