Annies Lodge Cape Maclear

A very cozy place near the water! Came out here for the day and the room is very nice, the showers work good, AC works, and price is reasonable. NO bedbugs, no Spiders and a very nice and recommended place!
P. S check out the rocks with the blue colored fish SouthWest, nice fishing holes with cliff jumping areas!

Best lake experience I have ever had.
Great beach view, polite staff with great service. I loved the breakfast with seasonal sweet potatoes while the Chambo and Kampago were my favourite main meals.

This place was advertised as Luxury but I certainly didnt see it anywhere. I see good reviews and think, was I staying in the same hotel. Our room was possibly one of the worst I have stayed in. The sheets fels as if they were unclean, The couch in the room was full of stains, The bed was unsecure and very noisy, but the bathroom was the worse of all — we had no hot water for the majority of our stay and the hose was leaking on the shower and had zero pressure. Under the sink was full of ants. The door in the bathroom was absolutely filthy on both sides. We ordered food and I had the burger which was full of grizzle and smothered in what has to be the the worst tasting ketchup I have ever tasted, It was so bad that I find it hard even describing it as ketchup. Others had beef and they were sure it was goat and not beef as it was so chewy. The pool was dirty as well. Avoid this place at all costs. It would be cleaner sleeping on the Beach.

A very pleasant stay. Had a very warm welcome from the staff but the reception we received from the waiters was not so pleasant, it’s like they were in a rush to just get over and done with the orders and on top of that the fish we had on the first day was slightly going bad. Also when we asked if they had cake for desert the waiter said no but when we asked for what deserts they had during dinner this waiter said she should check if the cake is still available, this out me off. (Mind you these were different waiters) other than that it’s a great, quite place, the bar man was very friendly. Also would highly appreciated it if management could consider buying a different brand of tomato sauce 😃 and adding a little more variety on their food menus. The highlight of our stay was us swimming during the night, which was very therapeutic. The rooms was very spacious, plus the bed was very comfortable, we had hot water, air conditioners worked properly.
Definitely worth visiting.

I enjoyed staying at Annie's Lodge. The location is amazing and the staff is very friendlyand helpful. The lodge is good, not luxury, however I was not looking for luxury. The room and bathroom was clean, hot water on tap, the bed comfortable, the WiFI worked very well. The food was excellent, and the service was friendly. The bar shuts early, 10 pm, but some other nearby places sell drinks later and are within easy safe walking distance. The beach is lovely and looks like paradise. Certainly there are a few beach sellers doing their thing, but I found them to be generally good natured and not pushy. I would strongly recommend this hotel to travellers seeking a more intimate Malawi experience than some of the more expensive lodges.
