Dar Yacoub Hotel

The location is amazing but room standard of cleanliness is very bad and the bathroom is disgusting. The smell from the bathroom drain was horrible. I intended to extend my stay at yacoub but I had to move to beirut. But Sidon is very beautiful.

The hotel is very well located, right in the middle of Sidon’s old souk. It is an old house with beautiful and atmospheric rooms. Wi-Fi was provided and at the time of our stay electric power was off between 2:00 a. M. And 9:00 a. M. (which can be a problem on hot days, especially when the aircon is not working). It is definitely not the cleanest, but we paid 20 dollars so I guess it wouldn’t be fair to complain.

It is surprising how expensive hotels are in Lebanon and how difficult it is to find budget ones. But then, when you find them, they are very old and bad.
This is applicable to this hotel, where we still got a discount and paid 50US$/night after bargaining. But this is still a very expensive price for the service we got, as there was no hot water, the bathtub was dirty (there were hairs in the hair catcher), the room was very spartan, Wi-Fi was weak, there was no breakfast, and it was noisy, as in the evening we could still hear from the second floor the conversations from the reception.
The only positive points were the good location and the young guy who attended us, who was kind and nice enough.
Talking about the location, we can recommend the Falafel Abou Rami "restaurant" (absolutely delicious! ) and Sharqy Cafe, while Sidon's old town and its ancient highlights are really worth visiting.
