Cranes Haven in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

Where is Cranes Haven holiday home located, and what kind of view does the property offer?

The property is located in a secluded countryside setting near the town of Kitale, surrounded by bamboo forest and farmland. Guests can enjoy picturesque panoramic views of Mount Elgon and the surrounding nature. The location features an amazing variety of birds and delightful morning bird song. Travelers highlight the opportunity to relax in hammocks in the fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Is the internet connection reliable in the rooms?

There is no Wi-Fi internet access on the property. Mobile network coverage in this area is also extremely unreliable, with a weak signal. Guests emphasize that it is not a suitable place for remote work. Additionally, some tents have only one functioning electrical outlet for charging electronic devices.

What is the atmosphere like at Cranes Haven holiday home, and how quiet is it?

Most guests describe this place as a haven of tranquility and a suitable spot for a peaceful family vacation. The atmosphere encourages relaxation thanks to the natural sounds of nature and the privacy of the tents. At the same time, some guests experienced loud, repetitive music from a speaker during the daytime, which disrupted the quiet environment and interfered with birdwatching.

What is the condition of the tents and bathroom amenities?

The property features five secluded tents; however, their condition receives mixed reviews. Guests reported the absence of mosquito nets on beds despite prior promises. In the bathrooms, guests found traces of mold, snails on the walls, faulty bathtub plugs, and weak water pressure. Hot water in certain rooms was either unavailable or required waiting more than twenty minutes for the water to run hot. Travelers also mentioned non-functional heating on cold days and stained furniture.

What is the quality of food and service offered by the on-site restaurant?

Guests' impressions of the local cuisine and restaurant service are mixed. Some visitors praise the delicious local dishes and warm atmosphere, while others complain about modest breakfasts made with less-than-fresh ingredients, missing dinner menu items, and a lack of certain soft drinks. There were also instances of two-hour wait times for orders and dishes being served that did not match their menu descriptions.

Is there a swimming pool available for guests on the property?

The complex features its own swimming pool, which blends harmoniously into the surrounding natural landscape and complements the countryside amenities. Guests can enjoy a swim while taking in the picturesque scenery.

How does the staff at Cranes Haven holiday home handle guest requests and complaints?

Some guests speak positively about the responsiveness and friendliness of certain staff members. However, there are serious complaints regarding staff indifference to reports of broken amenities. In one instance, guests were refused check-in under a pre-paid booking made through a third-party service, forcing them to pay again upon check-out. Management completely ignored subsequent attempts to resolve this financial issue via email.

Are guests provided with complimentary gifts or souvenirs?

Upon visiting the complex, guests receive complimentary locally produced items. Visitors are gifted branded blended coffee and locally harvested natural honey. Guests note that these treats make great souvenirs.

A little pocket of heaven. Peaceful & serene. Service is friendly and personalised. I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

Booked a stay with the girls for a night. The location is nice and quiet. Unfortunately for the price paid we expected more.
No Wi-Fi & great network.
Only one charging port working in the whole tent.
Breakfast was average, food tasted and looked not freshly prepared.
Bathroom had moulds on the wall. Lack of hot water and water pressure minimal.
No mosquito nets on the beds despite promise from front office prior to booking.
We explicitly requested for the rooms to be heated, room was freezing when we checked in.
Snail identified on bathroom walls.

Ordered their haven special beef fillet described as a beef steak served with mushroom sauce, cheese and bacon. We waited for 2hrs only for them to serve us plain dry steak. On returning the food the chef grated cheese on it with tiny pieces of mushroom and sent it back.
