Regency Mount Kenya Hotel

A serene and relaxing resort with stunning views of Mt. Kenya. The location is ideal close to Ngare Ndare and not too far from Timau making it a great base for exploring the area. The resort offers a wide variety of cuisine, including both African and Indian dishes. The rooms are well maintained, adding to the overall pleasant stay. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Great place, really well maintained. Cleanliness was top notch. Rooms were clean. The food was good. Views were amazing. The staff were good and friendly. Although the 11 Kilometre road from the main road to the hotel was rocky, so if you have a small car it will be quite a ride.

We had a wonderful stay at Regency Mt Kenya Hotel, a peaceful and scenic hotel near Mt Kenya. The food was fresh, delicious, and to order with excellent Kenyan and Indian cuisines. Our spacious room had beautiful views of Ngare Ndare forest and Mt Kenya, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed meditating in the mornings listening to the birds chirping. The hotel is family — friendly with a large playground, trampoline slides and swimming pool that my son loved. Highly recommend for everyone visiting Mt Kenya region.

My stay at Regency Mount Kenya Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink, and lunch was ready upon arrival — such thoughtful hospitality.
The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained, with consistent hot water for showers. Our balcony faced the forest with a breathtaking view of Mt. Kenya — truly heaven on earth.
The environment is serene, peaceful, and filled with tranquility. If you're looking for a complete shutdown away from the noise and hustle of city life, this is the perfect escape. There is no Wi-Fi due to the remote forest location — which honestly adds to the digital detox experience.
The food was excellent and well-prepared. It gets quite chilly at night, but they offer a cozy bonfire option and even provide hot water bottles — such a comforting touch. The hotel also features a swimming pool, children’s play area, conference room, family room, and prayer room, making it ideal for families, retreats, or group stays.
They offer flexible accommodation options — full board, half board, or bed only — and it’s very pocket-friendly.
If you make it this far, a visit to Ngare Ndare Forest is a must. The blue-water river swim is absolute bliss, and the canopy walk adds such a magical experience to your stay.

Was amazing place with great scenery. The rooms wer spacious n had everything needed. Thou no Wi-Fi in rooms. But we had indoor games available at the place to keep the group entertained. The food was excellent n service was to our likes n times. It's away from the city and the rough patch is to be considered but with the right vehicle it shouldn't be a problem. Thank u to the staff n organisers.

We chose this hotel as it was right next to Ngare Ndare Forest which we wanted to explore when on our self drive safari. (We found it difficult to find out much about it from in the UK. )
The rooms were excellent with good beds and they had balconies with perfect views over the trees to Mt Kenya. The pool looked very pleasant but we didn't try swimming as it was a bit chilly. Set meals were rather uninspiring but perfectly adequate.
The sounds of birdsong from the forest at dawn were quite magical. We wished we could have been on the canopy walkway then rather than mid morning after opening.

I would rate this as fair not good experience, maybe ok for youngsters but not for mature adults, the ride of 12 kilometers to the hotel is very treacherous, uncomfortable and highly dangerous for people with disabilities, arthritis or any other bone related condition, after reaching the hotel felt like all my bones were broken. Plus once in the rooms you are totally stranded as there is no Wi-Fi so plan to carry your on Wi-Fi — overall bad experience would not recommend anyone with health issues or to any elderly person.

This is what you call a true hidden gem, the hotel has a country side vibe, it is nested by the valley overlooking the forest and with beautiful views if Mt. Kenya. The staff are the most hospitable, gave us all the attention, ensuring we were comfortable, providing extras that we didn't ask for, w. G. Giving us warmer bottles for the bed at night, setting up the bonfire 🔥 when we requested in day 2, the chef would always want to know what we'll have for lunch or dinner way beforehand to prepare, it was amazing. Very relaxing atmosphere. Now the cold ❄️ 🥶 at night is out of this world, be prepared with warm clothes, gloves 🧤 etc. They do provide extra bedding for the cold. During the day the ☀️ was perfect for swimming 🥽. They also have a proper kids playground, I would say it's perfect for families.
Hotel is next door, right by the gate to Ngare Ndare forest so perfect activity to do while there, enjoyed the skywalk and hike to the blue pool.

Pros:
This hotel has beautiful views of Mt. Kenya.
The staff were helpful.
The rooms are big, but some of them had problems with toilet flushing.
Cons:
The hotel is located on a murram road that can get really muddy when it rains and you might need a 4x4.
Not enough vehicles were arranged for our game drive, though we had already informed them about the number of people in our group. Also the vehicle arranged for us was faulty. This delayed our plans during our stay.

Best place to stay before/after visiting Ngare Ndare. Meals are huge and tasty. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The view from the window is amazing! The pool could be a bit cleaner and there's no Wi-Fi in the rooms. Apart from that everything's perfect!

Very peaceful and serene environment. Excellent and friendly staff, excellent service and amazing food. Owner was very friendly and on top of things. A must to go for nature lovers.

The best hotel in nanyuki in my opinion, great food too.

Worst resort ever at the billed price. The owner receives phones like he is talking to his clans men, the rooms smell of cheap lodging, towels are old that the color has changed from white to almost brown.
Tissues is what was left by the previous guest.
No toothbrush, toothpaste, showercap…
There's no swimming pool, it is neglected and dried up.
Breakfast is horrible. Tea and a few old bananas and semicooked sausages.
Please avoid at all costs!

Visited after Christmas last year with family. The hotel was busy. The location is awesome. My daughter, my mum and I took a walk through ngare ndare forest to the blue green waterfalls. On the way back we did the canopy walk. It was awesome. I'd say the hotel is a good base to engage with nature. On food, mostly Asian cuisine but ok. The view of mount Kenya is visible from the room balcony and also from the pool. Why 4 star? coz they need to improve on cleanliness. I'd go there again and again though. I highly recommend it.
