Wanderlust Hostel

Really nice hostel with a good vibe and very well situated to see the main spots of Almaty. Wi-Fi was good and there is a smell shop outside where you can buy snacks and coffee.

This is a charming hostel, cozy enough, except our room was right next to the open terrace, and there was a bunch of people chatting away till the wee hours. Otherwise it was a great stay. The location is the best thing about this hostel. Bang in the middle of the city everything is accessible by a short walk/e-scooter includingthe major metro station, markets, restaurants and bus stops.
The beds seem to be comfortable, but I got one which was hard on one section, so I slept on the other side and it was fine. My wife got a good one though, soft and wide beds.

Basic room with very good location but quite area! A bit hard to locate especially when you arrive at night. No soundproofing at all so you can hear people walking on & off in early morning and late at night. Toilet needs a refreshment as the facility is tired. Cleanliness especially toilet needs to be pay extra attention. Cats are very nice but people who don’t like cats might feel annoyed. The manager Duman is extremely supportive and nice to us.

Generally not very welcoming. Noisy till around midnight, glass doors on rooms mean that quite a lot of light comes into your room at night, thin curtains that cause sunlight to wake you up early. People sleeping outside in the upstairs seating area, so you couldn’t sit there in the morning. Nice artwork on the walls — feels a bit like it was once a previously loved hostel but not so much anymore.

The only positive thing is the location. Now about the cons. Availability of cats. In general, cats can cause allergies. So it would be worth writing about their presence. In addition, these cats are extremely arrogant: they scream when you eat and jump on the table. Customers who steal products. A pack of butter won't make me poorer, but it's still unpleasant. But what was most outraged was the administration. Initially, I wanted to omit all the negatives and write a positive review. But the administration’s attitude ruined all the positives! Now more details. I didn't have time to finish my business. And I made a reservation from 29 to 2. I paid on the 28th. However, 29 they told me that they could not extend it for me because the clients verbally complained about the noise. I have epilepsy and have had several seizures. However, the clients mentioned by the administration did not say anything to my face. On the contrary, they offered help. She barely persuaded me to extend it. After the hypocrisy of the mentioned clients became clear, I was told that I could stay until the 2nd. However, 30 themselves canceled my reservation on Booking and they informed me that I had to check out because they complained about me that because of my seizures they did not sleep all night! It was a blatant lie. I don't have seizures at night. My roommate came while I was already asleep and left while I was still sleeping.

Dorm were ohk we were given bed sheet towel quilt cover and pillow cover comfy bed POV: made of 🪶 feathers. Do not have bidet. Overall stay was good 👍 perfect location to cover nearby attractions such as university, the flame and wooden church with beautiful gardens. Ps. Dont miss the police parade.

Very good place to stay and very near to sightseeing places in Almaty. Stayed here in mixed dorm for 4 nights and the stay was pleasant. The weather was awesome just before the snow and its very near to the Indian restaurant Spice Mantra. Do stay here if you are in Almaty.

Superb hostel. Fellow at front desk is the best, chill, organized, and informative. Nice common areas to chill, indoor and outdoor. Comfortable bed. Bathrooms kept clean. I had no trouble accessing one of three showers when I wanted it. Lockers. Great location near Paniflov Park. Appreciate male dorm option.

It just made me appreciate the other hostels I stayed in more. I'd say it's just okay for a budget option, but it wasn't even that cheap compared to other budget alternatives.
Not quite clean, multiple things are broken, fridge is a mess, Wi-Fi is bad (which was important at the time as I got an important call from home).
You still have everything you need though, just in a véry basic manner.
Short summary: It's barely okay, but honestly they could step up their game compared to the competition. Especially for what they charge.

I stayed in a single private bedroom. The toilet was shared between the residents. The shower had no door — something to keep in mind. Facilities are very basic and cleanliness of the place is average. Can get busy as there can be quite a lot of residents staying there.
Not many places offer a single private room for the price (6k per night). But if you can increase your budget a bit, there are hotels in Almaty which have better facilities and hygiene.

Looked great in the pictures but it was very dirty. Common spaces are tiny as well. I highly recommend their other hostel: “Wanderlust Boutique Hostel”, not that centric but much much better taken care of. Really, unless you don’t have another option, avoid this place. The cat would take our bed and leave excrements on it.
