Overall it was an excellent experience. As others have alluded to the hotel itself is slightly old but everything was fully functioning for us. The service, particularly at reception, was excellent and the food and drinks options served at breakfast and in the lounge were highly enjoyable. The only improvement I would make would be to have staff available to greet customers with bags on arrival.

We shared at the InterContinental Almaty for 5 nights during our visit to Almaty.
Our rooms were comfortable, and spacious.
The service of all the staff was very nice, and warm.
The breakfast buffet was also quite good.
We also used the swimming pool and spa, which was nice.
Overall good experience.

The rooms are slightly outdated, but they still give a luxurious and comfortable feel. The staff is very friendly, polite, and helpful, which makes a big difference in the overall experience. The breakfast is absolutely outstanding — easily one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. The spa facilities are sufficient, and although the massage is on the expensive side, it was still a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.
