Sakata Hotels

If you’re looking for accommodation in Sakata, look no further! Keita-san and all the staff at Wakaba Ryokan were unfailing in their warmth and hospitality during our stay.

Stayed here in February 2025. Was warmly welcomed by the staff who were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The room was great and I was given an extra long futon as I’m tall.

This is a cute Ryokan based in the heart of Sakata which makes it easy to reach with the connecting bus from Shonai airport. The room I stayed in was traditional and beautiful.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The bunk beds were comfortable. However the best was the owner himself. He reached out to the guests to invite everyone to a conversation.

I often drop in for a day trip to soak in the hot springs.
The downside is that it's quite far from the city center, but the trade-off is that the location is outstanding.

It was the end of summer. It was 35 degrees and humid, so I decided to visit Chokai Sanso for a day trip, hoping for a little cooler weather. Despite its high altitude, it was no exception.
