Hotel is currently being renovated so take this review lightly as it might change. From my experience it's fine, most rooms have a nice view with balconies too. However slightly dated and the breakfast is appalling.

Good hotel not far Nijo Castel and just 5min from the metro. Good point to visit kyoto.

The hotel is near the subway and very convenient. It is close to some major attraction and restaurant, a lot of convenient store around. The staff were very good and provide good service, English was not a problem. As for the rooms, it was a very standard room and a bit small. Overall we have no complaints and was very satisfied with our stay.

Although the bathroom is old, but the counter service staff attentive, close to the Umaru Royal Pond subway station, is a very good CP value of a hotel.

Excellent location right in the centre of Kyoto, very friendly staff and the attached Italian restaurant does good food. Rooms are a bit dated but otherwise fine for what I needed.

The room size is general, the bathroom facilities are older. The main disadvantage is that the style of breakfast is insufficient, and expensive, to East Butte Scenic area is inconvenient. The advantage is from four very close to the shopping side, as well as to the Kyoto Station and Kinkakuji convenient transportation.

The hotel is nice and clean. It is in a good location, on foot you can get to the Gion district. Very friendly staff. The rooms compared to other hotels are a little larger and this allowed us to move better. The breakfast unfortunately was not buffet and unfortunately there was not much choice and things to my liking.

Rooms are compact and small. But well organized and maintained. Staff is friendly and professional. The only downside is that the hotel is having renovation at Ground floor and expected to be completed in end March 2018. Other than that, the toilet has not exhaust fans and they provide you an air purifier within the room. Overall experience is ok.

Comfy. Near to main atractions as Kyoto museum. Near to Subway station.

Convenient, 2 minutes walk to the Umaru Royal Pond Station, hotel service cordial, to provide luggage and collection of parcel services. Rooms are neat and comfortable, not too small, live very comfortable, this time have lived to a good Street View room, you can see a whole row of red leaves Oh!

An old but very elegant hotel in the heart of downtown Kyoto. Perfect start for enjoying Kyoto’s shopping and night life district. The river is in direct walking distance for a nice picnic. The staff is very friendly and speaks good English. The rooms are very small but tidy with every comfort. Only the doors are a little bit thin so you can hear people walking and speaking on the hallway. The housekeeping is really early, starting rumors at 7:30 a. M. Which had been a little bit annoying.

Friendly staff, clean and in a good location. We had a great time there.

Great location, 2 mins walk from city hall and subway station, national manga museum is also nearby.

Good 3 star hotel, a few improvements could be made if you are being picky. But the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stayed there for four days. While stuff were old they were working. Room was small but comfortable, thin walls tough. Bathroom even smaller, clean and working. However toilet seat was way to small. For some reason they have a open smoking area next to the reception so sadly you are met with smokesmell when you leave the elevator. Mostly all shortcommings were made up because the wounderfull personal there. They tried hard and succeeded to create the most enjoyable stay of our trip.

Wasn't very happy with the Hotel. Has a lovely entrance and two options of restaurants to eat at if you would like, staff are super friendly but there a section in the reception area for smoking, which made me feel sick every time I wanted to go up to my room. Just be aware that every time you leave the Hotel you have to give your key to reception and recive it again when you come back. Hotel room was ridiculously small. Both my partner and I struggled to stay there for the whole 7 nights we booked. Suitcases didn't fit anywhere and there isn't much space for storage at all. Probably would prefer to not have the small Japanese tea table to have more space in the room. Every single room has its own Wifi so as soon as you leave your room there no Wi-Fi at all. The elevators stink of Cigarette Smoke. The general hotel room are super out dated and bathroom really needs a renovation! The cleanliness of the room is okay, not saying the cleaning staff are doing a bad job but the hotel is so outdated it's hard to keep the old stuff looking clean all the time! Walls have a lot of scratch and marks, as well at the furniture. Theirs Laundry services were out of service this week? So the hotel staff directed us to the nearest coin laundry, which was Tint and had only three washing machines all full, at least it's 24 hour. These hotel beds are awful!

I really enjoyed my stay there. The rooms were clean and the staff was very kind. It's location is great right on the middle of everything you have to see downtown Kyoto without the need of any kind of transportation except your feet. The subway is just two blocks away and you'll get anywhere in no time. Great hotel!

Nice place to stay. Convenient location (we had a rental car, but walked to the river and the Imperial Palace, good nearby restaurants and huge covered shopping area). Room was nice, large compared to some hotels we stayed in in Japan, staff was friendly, helpful, spoke English well. There was also a newspaper available in English, which was nice.

The room was clean, somewhat old decor but a good value. Staff is very friendly. It is about 2 blocks from a subway that connects you to the public transport system. We could not find a decent place to eat near the hotel… except for the convenience store across the street. Stay away from the Italian restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. I would stay there again but most likely I would spend more and get something with a little more comfort.

Quiet hotel and this very well. Elegant and comfortable to rest. Spacious rooms and economicas. Would repeat.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Was very close to the central square, a 5-minute walk to! We spent 10 minutes in the Verona by bus! Bedroom was spacious with a pleasant shower. Breakfast every morning was our favorite! Enthusiastic staff often to food supplements, foods rich in style, to meet everyone's taste. Will definitely come again! Good times! Hotel in quiet, located in the Heartland:)

The best part about Gimmond is the fact that it is centrally located. Its walking distance from Nijo Castle, Kamo river and Yasaka shrine. All must-visit places in Kyoto. The side streets behind Gimmond are quaint and show you glimpses of the old city. You can also rent bicycles in one of the back streets. In case you miss your green tea latte and sandwiches, there is a Starbucks and Subway close by. Rooms are small (but all living spaces in Japan are small) but clean and have good views of the city. Taxi drivers kept calling the Hotel 'Gimmondo'…

The hotel is located near the Nijo Castle and Imperial Palace. The hotel is comfortable and reasonable prices. Maybe a little bit old. The staff speaks English. The only con is there is 1 powerplug available in the room.

Near nishiki market, shijo shopping area, karasumaioke station. The hotel is quite old but have spacious room and the staff also speak fluent english.

The room was clean and cozy, and the location is good to commute to any other place either by train, subway or even bus. A lot of stores worth visiting as a trendy and modern biz area. Also visited some good restaurants without any recommendation just 2 blocks away. Guess u can go into any of them and find it surprisingly good in the neighborhood.

The good points first. The room was clean and spacious and there was a few OK English speakers on the front desk. The amount of rooms is limited by the two lifts. I spent more than 10mins on numerous occasions waiting for a lift. I would have used the stairs but that wasn't an option given. Its close to a tube station but not the end of town where all the food and activities are occurring. Probably best for coach tourist groups rather than individuals on this front. My final point has to be about the breakfast. A western breakfast should offer cereal and other items such as toast. The gimmond presented each guest with a plate which was mainly lettuce, 1 piece of toast, 1 egg (how it was cooked varied each day), ham, bacon and a crossiant. Just random and since most of it was lettuce, not really worth it or what I was expecting. Clean but on the outskirts.

It is not bad. Air conditioning, fridge own, a few minutes from the metro. Very attentive and polite, they know English and help you to find anything in the city. Good room service. I have not found any hits. The size of the facilities comes with the country, so I have it in mind. More than enough to leave the luggage while visits the city and temples, sleep and take a shower.

Cheap and confortable. The thin walls might be a problem depending on what kind of neighbouring hosts you have, but it only posed me a problem once, and was easily solved.

Near to oike station. Exit 3. Room rate is affordable. Carpet floor.

Clean and convenient location, as long as you don't mind thin walls, slamming doors, lots of little kids, and no sleep.
