Even as a Japanese, staying at Kyoto Machiya ryokan is special thing. An amazing house and good surroundings. The trip became very calm and grounded because of the stay here at Sanjoku, even though Kyoto is a big city and crowded.
➜ Very good house ah, just in the alley in front of the two cities, three minutes walk from the subway station, on the way to the subway station can see the walls of the two cities, feel great. The old lady is very, very kind, people are very nice, the room is full of things, we set the first floor with a small yard room, very mood. The beginning of this kind of and style of accommodation feel more hesitant is that the bathroom needs to share, but later found that it is not a big problem, because the bathroom and toilet are quite good, the toilet and three. Luggage, before check-in and after check-out can be stored, very convenient. All in all, very good! Completely exceed the expectations of a stay experience, if there are friends to play in Kyoto will certainly recommend!

A very good and memorable experience!
The house is from the 19th century. For a foreigner (perhaps also for a native Japanese traveller), the traditional architecture, customs, and atmosphere provide something truly unique.
If you have physical challenges with climbing or moving in confined spaces though, Sanjojuku Machiya is not for you: there are several tiers and rises which may give you grief when moving about.
No hotel staff could be any friendlier than the lovely lady looking after Sanjojuku.
A small but for some guests maybe significant characteristic of the inn is the lack of beeping, talking, buzzing and otherwise signalling machines. Japanese cities do abound in these sounds, but here in Sanjojuku Machiya, you will not be exposed to so much as the sound of television sets or radios. Thus it is one of the most peaceful nooks in this city of about 1, 5 million residents.
