Incredible stay in Ono with really kind, welcoming and thoughtful hosts. We really enjoyed the common areas which were really relaxing and loved the accomodation. Needs a bit more planning for those without a car as not many buses to and from Ono but definitely doable and worth it! For those eating out we really enjoyed Shimomura katsudon nearby (delicious! ).
Wasn't a problem at all for us, but just be aware there is no communal kitchen for those wanting to cook but you can bring food in. We really loved our stay and would happily have spent longer there :).

Hosters were very kind and willing shared experiences with us.
Breakfast was delicious with homemade soup/juice.
I love the living room with Japanese style decoration.
Soundproofing is not that well. But, it's the condition had been told and all guests followed the rule: keep silence during 10pm~6am.

Café & Guesthouse Namakemono is a lovely, warm place to stay—full of charm, character, and beautiful wooden architecture. As you step inside, you’re welcomed by an open tatami room with comfortable chairs and a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It’s family-owned, and you can feel the care and thought that’s gone into every detail.
The owner (the dad of the family) is also the chef, and he made me a delicious panini sandwich with vegetable soup—especially catered to me as a vegetarian. That kind of personal touch is rare and very appreciated. The coffee was also fantastic.
I stayed in the shared bunk beds area, but I happened to have it all to myself, which was a bonus! They also have private rooms available. Just a quick note—the stairs up to the second floor are fairly steep, so take care. The bathroom area is modern and very clean. While the bath is only for guests in the private rooms, the shower facilities for the dorm guests are small but new and spotless.
The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful, making it a perfect spot to unwind. Overall, a wonderful experience. Highly recommended if you’re passing through Fukui and looking for something homey and memorable.

The owners are the sweetest people ever. They are very friendly and really good at english. They showed me restaurants and places to go in Ōno, it was really useful. They also lent me a bike and an umbrella and gave me candies and homemade food when I was leaving (the onigiri was delicious)! Thank you a lot to them!
Talking about food, the breakfast is very tasty!
The place is tidy and there is a very nice common area with kotatsu in winter. It's really peaceful and calm.
I stayed in the mixed dorm but I was alone so it was nice haha. I slept really well and there is a lot of space around the futon to put things.

The guest house is warm with relaxing vibes and very comfortable. It is run by a lovely family who were helpful and gracious.
We appreciated that we could get a car ride to Mt Arashima's trailhead at a very decent fee too.
The rooms were very clean, definitely one of the better guest houses I've stayed at for the past 1 month!

Not related to the guesthouse, but the onsen they recommended was a too hot for us 🤣.

Just a quick stop along the way but was blown away by this charming place. Loved the mix of old traditional house, cafe, and dormitory with all the modern amenities needed. The atmosphere was most relaxing with a creative cafe vibe. Private dorms, bathrooms, shower, common areas were super clean and comfortable. The owner was exceptionally nice and thoughtful.
