The level of hospitality and personality in this place feels like something from a bygone era, something not easily encountered and to be treasured. This is exactly the sort of thing we seek out on our travels. We had booked the full experience, a room with the ensuite rotenburo and meals included. The staff pulled out all the stops and we were delighted to see okami-san perform. The meals showcased every possible thing we could want to try in Yamaguchi. The content of the courses could be better explained especially since they featured all the Yamaguchi specialties, but it was not difficult to figure out between asking and Google. We had a really great time. It is an old inn and yes sometimes things break. They probably need to update some of the plumbing/pumps as the hot water supply sometimes doesn't distribute evenly across the outlets. Our rooms were old but immaculate and very confortable. I think people should read the reviews and decide if this place is for them before they book. This was a highlight of our Chugoku trip and we will cherish this memory. I wish okami-san stays healthy for a long time and continues to be able to perform.
