The Onsen by the river really pays off, although there is a public natural Onsen by the river also just a few meters from the hotel. But I have eaten better paying less in Ryokans in Takayama. They offered a shuttle to the ropeway staying I just had to call them when I would return. Well, I did this and they just had sad that they couldn't do this. The bed was not comfy. For a supposed 4 star hotel this was surprising.
Room is big and clean~and the food here is delicious too~~Must try the local taycoon beef! Besides, u can try the natural hotspring and foot spa.

Very enjoyable experience, great view, bath and food (although some not to my liking). Only complaint was the futons, a bit thin, and the sheets a bit short, but otherwise excellent.
