What a wonderful experience this was for me, my wife and the couple we were traveling with. We not only learned a lot about cooking guided by Letizia’s warm and loving approach to her students, we learned about her beloved Umbria. We enjoyed the fruits of our labor on the patio overlooking the magnificent valley below. It was a highlight of our trip.

The cooking class we took was one of the highlights of our trip! My husband and I have taken multiple cooking courses but they are not as thoughtful, engaging and hands on as the Alla Madonna del Piatto Cooking School. Letizia is simply the best! She is like an Italian mother I never had. She is so kind and generous! I have made the dishes we learned in class a few times now and everyone loves it. Highly recommend!

Letizia is a fabulous host and cooking teacher! Her passion for the best fresh, local ingredients, cooking from scratch and her beloved Umbria inform everything she does. Cooking in her kitchen with friends old and new is a one-of-a-kind experience. If you're lucky enough to stay in her beautiful inn, you will enjoy an unbelievably warm and welcoming experience.

Such a wonderful place to stay! The location outside of Assisi is gorgeous; the rooms are comfortable; the food is fabulous; and Letizia and Gerd are wonderful hosts. We regret not participating in one of Letizia’s cooking classes while there but we did follow her suggestions for local restaurants and enjoyed two very memorable meals in towns that we probably wouldn’t have even visited. We hope to visit again with our children and take a class! Meanwhile, we can cook form Letizia’s cookbook, A Kitchen With a View, which we highly recommend as well.

The charm of this B&B is surpassed only by Letizia and Ruurd’s warm hospitality. Plan to take a cooking class from Letizia, and follow her personalized recommendations for things to do and places to see (many run by her own good friends) while you’re in the area.

Really a wonderful, wonderful place. I have visited 4 times and cannot wait to go back. Gracious hospitality. Simple comfortable rooms. A lovely property with sweeping views of the countryside and Assisi nearby. The lovely homemade breakfast every morning is perfect. The cooking lessons are hands on and wonderful. You will want to buy her cookbook! Letizia and Ruurd offer gracious hospitality that makes you feel as if you are visiting dear friends. They can arrange all manner of things to do and transportation at reasonable prices. Not to be missed!

A charming small B&B in the hills above Assisi… with a great view of the town and church from the terrace. I have stayed here, and have sent clients over the years. Letizia and Ruurd are both academics (who speak perfect English) but left that life years ago to pursue a dream — — and they have it! Letizia's cooking classes and cookbook are wonderful as well. Great hospitality, comfortable inn, knowledgeable hosts!

Our experience here was MAGNIFICENT! Our stay with Letizia and her beautiful family was the highlight of our 10 day trip to Italy. Her hospitality is unmatched. She provided us fresh baked bread each morning, along with a delicious breakfast. Her warmth and love radiate through her food and the way she interacts with her guests. You will need a rental car if you stay here, as it is atop a tall hill outside of Assisi. The views of the city are breathtaking from the porch top of the B&B. If you want an authentic, intimate and beautiful place to stay, this is it! Be sure to take a cooking class, too! It's worth every penny!

Recently returned from Italy to the States, after one of the high points of our trip — an afternoon cooking with Letizia at the Alla Madonna del Piatto Cooking School. While it is listed as a "school" we were treated to a completely private cooking lesson in her kitchen. Letitia was very patient in answering even our most basic of questions and revealed several "chef's secrets" in cooking great Italian food. We requested special insights into cooking eggplant and how to make great sauces. We were treated to a wonderful, yet simple-to-prepare, eggplant parmigiana dish that was out-of-this world. She also demystified fresh pasta and made us a great cream and white wine based sauce with sausage. A great fresh salad started the meal and an elegant panna cotta completed it. As we ate all of this superb food, we were treated to a wonderful view from her home over the valley near Assisi. 100% recommended for anyone with a a few hours to spare when in Umbria.

My husband and I have stayed several times at Alla Madonna del Puatto and it is always delightful! The owner, Letizia, is so warm and welcoming that you truly feel like your a special guest in her home. We have also taken several of her cooking classes and trust me — you need to treat yourself to one! They are so fun and you will go home and make the recipes you learned in class over and over! After cooking you get to eat what you made on that beautiful terrace overlooking Assisi. Doesn’t get any better than that!

Do not miss Alla Madonna del Piatto B&B. Wonderful place to stay and the cooking school featuring Letizia Mattiacci is fantastic. We have visited her several times and will be back again in 2019. Letizia also has a wonderful cookbook, "A Kitchen With A View", which is a must have for all that love to cook Italian food.

Not your ordinary B&B or rural hotel, but a true Agriturismo with distinctive rooms, breathtaking views across Assisi and the surrounding areas, and charming hosts who can't do enough for you. The cooking classes are fabulous and not to be missed!

Magical Retreat in Umbria — Letizia, Ruurd, and Google (the dog) are so welcoming in every regard. We enjoyed a very comfortable 3 night B&B and a cooking class. It was such a pleasure to share a real slice of heaven in such a fabulous location with beautiful food and great company. Even my husband remarked that he enjoyed the experience much more than he had expected. Result! Couldn't recommend it more if you want to have a genuine Italian experience with gracious hosts. Letezia guides you through the Umbrian menu of the day with heart and soul, like your Italian momma for the day. Simple ingredients, easy techniques are taught, and there is group participation to learn these fantastic skills. Cooking is in a small, controlled environment. Anyone can enjoy this beautiful day in the Italian countryside. The meals prepared are uncomplicated so you can bring your experience home!

This was an amazing cooking experience even for an experienced Italian cook. Latizia has so much wonderful information to share and is an amazing chef and teacher. Her English was amazing and helped us to enjoy this amazing bucket list item in a way that will change our cooking forever. We highly recommend her class in its amazing location overlooking Assisi and the valley!

We had such a wonderful time! Amazing recipes and food, gorgeous views, lovely new companions and fantastic instruction and information from Letizia. We cannot wait to make some of the dishes at home.
