We have stayed twice at this hotel, once in the summer and once during the holidays. The staff were outstanding. The accommodations clean and the most comfortable beds in the three places we stayed during our vacation. The breakfast is delicious. We stayed in the basic room the first stay and it's very plain and basic. We stayed in the nicest rooms the second stay and they were outstanding. We liked the location as it was quiet and yet accessible to all. Our friends weren't such great hill walkers and were a bit fatigued walking the hills to the hotel. But they would have missed seeing some of the most beautiful parts of the city had they not had to walk back to the hotel. They also took taxis.
Nothing really stuck out for me at this hotel as being anything above average. I didn't find the staff to be overly friendly or going out of the way to make my stay ammunition special.

What a shocking hotel. Definitely not the 4 star as advertised. Firstly we were not contacted by the Hotel to inform us we would not be able to drive to it to drop off our luggage as there was a lot of roadworks and some of these were outside the Hotel. We had to park in the car park and drag our cases up the hill and finally up the very steep stone steps at the side of the Hotel. Very poor customer service. The room was supposed to be a superior room but it was very basic and the furniture and bathroom had seen better days. Our room was next to the breakfast room so we were awoken very early by crashing and banging of cutlery, plates, etc. All in all not a good experience and glad we were only there for 1 night. That said, the town of Gubbio is beautiful and worth a visit.
