The Rif - Boutique Hotel

We have just returned from a 5 night break at The Rif and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotels location is superb as it is only about 300 meters from The Miracle Square, which includes the tower, the cathedral and the baptistery.
We stayed in the suite, which was huge and had a fantastic balcony/terrace which had two sunbeds and chairs and a table. We used this every day when we returned from our daily sightseeing trips. It was a great way to wind down and relax before we headed off for dinner.

We loved this hotel, staff very friendly & welcoming. Set in a beautiful garden and has a lovely terrace with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine. Breakfast was very good, so much better than chain hotels. Bedroom was comfortable. Great location, 10 min walk to The Tower of Pisa and the main town & restaurants. We would highly recommend this hotel. A little bit of paradise in the city of Pisa. We only stayed 1 night but wished we could’ve stayed longer.

Great location, right next to the main sights, which makes it comfortable and convenient even on a hot summer weather. The rooms are very cozy with air condition and very clean. Staff is very attentive, friendly and professional. Great breakfast also with an amazing terrasse to enjoy it at (big shout out to Samantha for the great breakfast service! ). Totally recommended if you are thinking to visit Pisa and looking for a great, convenient location!

Stayed recently in the family room with two doubles. The room was quite small but that’s to be expected in Pisa! The room was very quiet and the air con was very effective. The car park onsite was convenient and very secure.
The location is top class and it is only a few minutes walk to the leaning tower. There is an access code on the main gate in which makes the location quite secure.

A very nice hotel, large cool rooms and located well if you want to visit the leaning tower and various restaurants and bars.
The breakfast is not good value. There is not a lot on offer and the bread toaster is pretty useless. Parking charges are also excessive at €22 per night.

My wife and I visited Pisa for the first time and we are happy that we stayed at the Riff Boutique Hotel for four nights. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Good breakfast, very comfortable area with a fountain, and most importantly, very professional and friendly staff — from the front desk administrators to the room cleaners. There is a designated smoking area where you can enjoy a cigar without disturbing other guests. I definitely recommend it.

Super cute hotel, was previously a stately home. We stayed in a family room at the back of the property. It had a great patio with comfy furniture. 5 minute walk to the Piazza where the Leaning Tower is located. The neighborhood is slightly sketchy so I recommend paying for their parking, which is gated. They do seem understaffed but the staff were all super nice. We ordered room service and it was not very good. More like they purchased food from a grocery store and heated it up in the microwave. It was a perfect location and good nights sleep for the family so it suited our purposes.

Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff need a pay rise! The way they looked after us was beyond exceptional. The receptionist was always on call for our requests and helped us all the time for our queries and asks. The chef/waitress of the restaurant for our breakfast and dinner was very welcoming and always asking us if we were okay and looked after. She really made us feel at home. The location of this hotel was amazing as we could literally walk to the Tower of Pisa in about 5 mins and close to the train station to get to Florence. The facilities and cleanliness of the rooms were beyond expectation too. Sometimes the owner when passing by would stop to have a chat with us. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed at and we will definitely come back. If you want an amazing stay and experience in Pisa please stay here. 100% recommend! 😊

Very Lovely-stayed here one night in May 2025 service was excellent and the place was very charming. We loved all of the decorative touches. The breakfast was fresh and really good and the bed was very comfy. The walk to dinner and the leaning tower was also very nice from here.

The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Miracle Square and 20 minutes from the city center. The staff were super friendly, and the vibe was relaxed and quiet despite being so close to the main attractions. The only downsides were the poor noise isolation and a rather basic breakfast.

The hotel is in a super location only a short walk from the Leaning Tower and Cathedral. The rooms are modern and clean with all you need. The staff were pleasant and helpful during our stay. There is a lovely courtyard area for sitting outside and having a coffee on a sunny day. Would strongly recommend this charming little hotel.

The hotel is located in a very convenient area, close to the tower and train station which is well connected to Pisa Centrale. The area is very quiet. The hotel offers good size rooms which are modernly furnished, equipped with coffee machine and full mini bar. Unfortunately the mattress could have been better but apart from that all is super good. The receptionists were super friendly and ready to help us. The team also sent well detailed information on how to access our rooms since we arrived late at night. The hotel is super clean!

Lovely and friendly hotel ideally situated a short walk from the leaning tower and cathedral. Out of the main tourist walking rout so very quiet.
We did not eat in the hotel because there is so much choice locally.
The room is very comfortable, the bathroom is lovely.
There is a beautiful garden but it was too chilly to be outside on our visit in February.
Highly recommend this hotel for value, comfort, position for tourist and assistance.

The Rif absolutely exceeded expectations, the staff were absolutely fantastic and really made the stay for us. We stayed in the suite and wow couldn't recommend enough. There is the most stunning of balconies with this room which I don't think is given justice in the pictures but it really was just fabulous. We travelled with our 10 month old and it was just perfect. Breakfast again was brilliant and a lot to choose from. I couldn't honestly give any sort of fault to The Rif, the location, the room, the staff and the stay was just what we wanted.
Will definitely be returning!

I would not recommend booking a stay at The Rif Pootique Hotel, especially not at the price they are asking. While the location is quite good, being close to the tower and within walking distance of the center of Pisa, the overall experience left much to be desired. The staff members were friendly and helpful, but we paid 189 euros for a room that did not live up to expectations.
The most significant issue lies with the hotel’s management, who seem indifferent to the quality of their guests' stay.
Firstly, we were given a room next to the reception, which, at 189 euros, was not soundproof. This is particularly problematic for a room located near the reception area. Although the building is old and it's understandable that not all rooms are perfectly insulated, the door of our room was positioned right in front of a wooden cupboard used by the cleaning staff. Starting at 6:30 AM, they would loudly open and close the cupboard doors, resulting in a very poor night's sleep.
Another problem was the constant unpleasant odor in the hallway outside our room. The smell seemed to emanate from an open cellar door, likely due to sewage issues. Given the age of the building, this may be difficult to manage, but it was still quite off-putting. Still decided to coin the name The Rif Pootique Hotel nonetheless.
Additionally, the shower drainage in our room was not maintained, causing the entire room to flood while we were showering.

We stayed in The Rif Hotel October 2023 and fell in love with the place. The fact is was so close to the sight seeing areas and more so a few minutes from Pisa airport. Having loved the time previously, we had we booked again for October 2024. We spend a week or so in Florence and the Rif hotel was so handy to stay the night before our flight the next day.
We have just arrived from Florence and checked in to The Rif hotel. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We were told our room was upstairs and having been here before we knew that it was going to be like our last room or of similar quality. After going up and then through a door, then another 21 stairs to get into our room, we are absolutely shocked as the room is basically an attic. The hotel states on its website it has 15 boutique rooms and this is by far anything boutique!
Under no circumstances would we have ever booked this. Like the last time, we had booked a double room, we thought it would have been like the last time. We mentioned this to the front desk who advised they were fully booked. That would be acceptable however to be put in a room such as this is a disgrace.
We were told we had booked an ‘economy’ room but there is no reference or images to show what their version of an economy room looks like on their website.
There is no phone to contact reception, and the only windows in the attic are unable to be opened due to their height.

Delightful boutique hotel super close to the historical centre. Easy to explore on foot. Gorgeous rooms, lovely staff, would highly recommend if staying in Pisa. It is rated 3 stars but this might just be because it has no restaurant or lift. It feels more like a 4 or 4 star. There are lots of restaurants nearby which the hotel recommends (and it didn’t disappoint! ).
