Staying at Abbadia Sicille Relais felt like stepping into a dream. The moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the charm of this historic village surrounded by the rolling hills of Tuscany. Every corner of the property tells a story — from the ancient stone walls to the peaceful gardens filled with the scent of rosemary and olive trees.
Our suite was absolutely stunning: spacious, beautifully designed, and overlooking the most breathtaking landscape. Waking up to that view every morning was magical. We even had a private jacuzzi, which made our evenings unforgettable — sipping local wine under the Tuscan stars.
The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. They recommended the best local wineries and hidden gems to visit around Pienza and Montepulciano. Their attention to detail truly made us feel at home.
We spent our days exploring the Val d’Orcia and Valdichiana, and our afternoons relaxing by the pool, surrounded by silence and nature. It’s the kind of place where you can completely disconnect and just enjoy the beauty around you.

Sure, it's a picturesque ancient abbey. The rooms are ancient too — unfortunately they only seem to date back to the 1980s. No porter for your bags, as others have said. We were upgraded to a 'royal suite', which was big, but then the impressiveness kind of stops. This whole place needs a face-lift even more than I do. Pool water was clean, but the surrounding area generally grotty — muddy grass etc. We avoided the communal jacuzzi, as the water looked kind of milky.
We had a jacuzzi in our room, which seemed about as enthusiastic as we felt. I mean the jets wanted to give up and go home. There's a pound shop Dyson in our room, which is just weird, even for the royal suite. The breakfast sounds minimal, and is brought to your room. Fingers crossed the Fondo restaurant shortly does not disappoint. I'm just really glad we only booked one night here.
… and Fondo did not disappoint. The best meal we've had in Tuscany. I get the feeling both the restaurant and the hotel have seen better days, but the food, thankfully, is still excellent. (Although I do note that the Abbadia and Fondo are now separate entities. )

A very interesting experience staying in an old “castle”. The room was clean and very spacious. The breakfast was very basic and maybe small, but it was served in a very interesting way. I wish these guys could let people stay in the actual castle, this would be nice. This was confusing on booking cause I thought it was actually the case. Instead, you stay somewhere else.

Loved our stay at Abbadia Sicille Relais. I will always stay there whenever I visit Tuscany.
It's a bit of a drive to the main towns, but it's so worth it. It is located at a nice and quiet road, so you have the peace and quiet and relaxation after exploring all day.

Wow! What a beautiful place. Super welcoming and felt like a real treat. The views were amazing, the breakfast was well thought out, simple and delightful. The jacuzzi bath was the icing on the cake! Everything was spotless and a nice sprinkle of Christmas arrived midway through our stay 🩵

The stay in this place was incredible. We booked this accommodation for only one night, but immediately after checking in, we were delighted with this atmosphere in the 13th century castle and extended our stay for another night. Very beautiful area and breathtaking views. The room had everything you need for a comfortable stay. We really recommend everyone to stay here.

Your facility was one of the most amazing places we have ever experienced! The grounds were stunningly beautiful, the history of the buildings was fascinating, your staff was warm and friendly and welcoming! We especially loved the breakfast boxes! How quaint and charming and such a good value! We didn't want to leave! And I made friends with Gigi the cat!

I was fortunate enough to stay here for two nights with my husband, and this spot is so magical and special. From the pleasant staff, to the grounds, to the special touches in the room; we had an unparalleled experience here. The lovely woman who welcomed us at the front desk (whose name now escapes me) spent considerable time and effort finding a truffle hunt for us, along with a truffle lunch, and I will remember this experience fondly for years. There is attention to service and detail here, and that makes this spot a wonderful gem when exploring the countryside! We loved the breakfast box!

Really nice accommodation in the middle of nowhere :) swimming pool and romantic atmosphere with wine from Montepulciano area. Possibility to have gluten free breakfast and gluten free dinner in the restaurant in the castle.

Disappointing stay. 1.5 stars, rounded up to 2. The air conditioning was broken, which management knew about but didn't address proactively. We had to switch rooms nightly due to various issues, yet staff never offered this solution — we had to request it repeatedly. One room's bathroom reeked of urine, another had cigarette smoke seeping in from a neighbor. Wi-Fi was unreliable throughout. The lack of proactive service and failure to resolve these problems was frustrating. While the location was convenient, the numerous issues and poor customer service make it impossible to recommend this place.

I stayed here in late May. Upon arrival we were unable to be allowed to take our vehicle to the entrance of our room. (They are no rooms in the main body of the original house only buildings scattered room the gardens) this made humphing all our luggage over stone chipped driveway a real pain. I would suggest that either a wheeled cart or golf buggy would be a great asset to the services available.
The rooms were tastefully decorated, keeping with the age of the building. I would say that the seats could all do with being replaced as they have all seen better days with fabric covers now in place.
They were no breakfast room at this hotel, only baskets delivered to your door at pre-arranged times in the morning. They were ok…
They are also no bar at this location, possibly as it used to be a monastery. There are also quite times in the evening where they wish the location to be silent. Just things to be mindful off.
The restaurant on site run by anther company however was great and enjoyed some four nights dinning there and I would defiantly recommend visiting.
Your are located in the midst of the countryside, however they are attractions around that you can visit and another tip, make sure you have plenty of fuel in your car as unleaded petrol (E10) is hard to find.
I would return to this hotel as it is nice and relaxing.

Great staff, lovely rooms (we had an apartment), fantastic views and gorgeous surroundings. The restaurant is fantastic too, just don't order the 'Noodles' dish 😉

Unique experience. It was a very peaceful and clean place. You must stay a minimum of 2 days to enjoy it. There is nice swimming area and classy restaurant. You can have a breakfast if you like to have. Ideal for relaxing in a quiet place, also close to centers such as Pienza.

I liked the swimming pool and the jacuzzi so much. The check-in lady was extremely friendly and always helpful and smiling! Thank you once again. I'm here now. Amazing Atmosphere, crazy place marvelous silence and enveloping. Breathtaking views over the val di chiana… In a former monastery in the high middle ages. What can I say. Stuff by the Name of the Rose. Top.
