Susafa

This is a luxury working farm, and a piece of Sicilian history. If you have the good fortune to drive here in middle of the countryside with wild horses on the road. You will be blessed. So much attention to detail in every step you take. The staff was friendly and welcoming, it is not the Pullman in Paris so keep that in mind, it is a working farm with lovely accommodations. The food at dinner was clean, healthy, satisfying and delicious but small portions. The breakfast was by far the best breakfast of any hotel that I have stayed in the world. The chef was there to cook your farm fresh eggs any style you desired, Everything was local and super fresh, such as — nuts, fresh produce to juice, cakes, tarts, croissants, meats and beautiful local cheeses, home made butter, home made breads & cookies, fresh made yogurt, it goes on and on everything made on sight or close by local. The hotel is quite maybe to quite, needs music by pool for my taste. I felt very special to be able to be part of history staying in this labor of love in the resurrection of this family farm. They loan you a small book to read in your room, the story & history & significance of this beautiful place in Sicily the book is written by the owner. The rooms are cozy and decorated so beautiful clean lines. The bar room a converted working room was magnificent, comfortable with a large fireplace. I could have spent days in this room. With the fire going.

This is our second visit to Susafa and it’s every bit as good as it was the last time, 5 years ago!
Very friendly, very attentive staff, lovely relaxing rooms and public spaces including the gardens and swimming pool.
Most of the main open public areas have views over the surrounding countryside and the only noise you hear is the local fauna. Birds and goats mostly! 😁
The food is all locally grown and superbly prepared and/or cooked…
You can just relax all day or go out and visit whatever local sites take your fancy. The road into Susafa is… interesting… but that is part of its charm!
We love it and will be back in another 5 years. If not sooner!
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in… very highly recommended!

We stayed here for 8 nights for our honeymoon and even though we had a wonderful time, there were some details that could have been better for our experience.
Theres one thing that definitely marked our experience negatively. The owner’s dog, Bruno, is very well cared for, but very sadly, Bruno’s two puppies are kept in deplorable conditions, under the sun all day, in a dirty area and very neglected.
Overall a beautiful hotel with positive and negative things.
Positive:
The service from Martha, Ita, Francesca, Giuseppe, and Michaela was excellent—always helpful, kind, and professional. The property itself is beautiful, offering a peaceful, rustic yet upscale atmosphere with stunning landscapes.
Room:
Clean, spacious and very comfortable. The fact that they don't have a minibar is very negative.
Food and Drinks.
The location is remote, so you naturally have very limited food options. Breakfast is top-notch with plenty of options and fresh food. While the €30 lunch buffet is consistent with 1 pasta option and different salads and small veggie plates, it lacks protein options that you expect with the price range and barely any variety from day to day. On our last day, I mentioned to a waitress that I was tired of the same menu, and she kindly offered to make me pesto pasta, which was a very nice gesture.
Dinner is interesting, with some nice options and a tasting menu. The portions are particularly small-You could say that the size of the main dishes is appetizer-sized.

Susafa was absolutely stunning. The grounds were perfect, and for mid-August, the weather was mild. The attention to detail here is impeccable. Both lunch and breakfast were delicious. We can't wait to come back.

I loved Susafa! Wonderful setting. It's a bit remote, but that made it more special. The food is delicious (and fresh! ) and the bar and public spaces are lovely. The room could be a bit damp at times and the Wi-Fi was spotty, but for a vacation Susafa is wonderful. Also, check out the pool, which we loved hanging out at.

Our stay at Susafa was an absolute dream from start to finish! Nestled in the heart of picturesque Sicilian countryside, this charming hotel exceeded all expectations.
Firstly, the rooms are beautifully designed, blending rustic charm with modern comforts seamlessly. Each detail was carefully curated, creating a cozy and romantic atmosphere perfect for honeymooners like us.
One of the highlights of our stay was meeting Bruno, the adorable courtyard dog who greeted us with such warmth and friendliness every day. His presence added an extra layer of charm to the already delightful ambiance of the hotel.
The food at Susafa is nothing short of exceptional. Every meal was a culinary delight, showcasing the best of Sicilian cuisine with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The chefs clearly have a passion for what they do, and it truly showed in every dish we enjoyed.
The pool area was another favorite spot of ours. Surrounded by lush greenery and offering stunning views of the Sicilian countryside, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring.
Overall, our experience at Susafa was perfect in every way. The combination of impeccable design, delightful company (thanks, Bruno! ), incredible food, and relaxing amenities made our honeymoon truly unforgettable. We cannot recommend Susafa highly enough for anyone looking to experience the best of Sicilian hospitality in a breathtaking setting.

Susafa wasn’t what I expected. I had high expectations for this place, having looked forward to visiting for two years since I first noticed the hotel. Unfortunately, the property is not well-maintained, from the landscaping and rooms to the restaurants and more.
The service was okay but not great for the rate we were paying. The owners walk around but do not greet guests; instead, they just stare. The rooms are very small and have a bad smell, lacking amenities such as a mini fridge or adequate services. Guests are even advised to limit water use.
It seems the owners do not invest in this property as a hotel, showing little concern for the customer experience. The only positive aspect was the swimming pool area with its beautiful view. However, there is not much to do, and the pool area lacks service, requiring guests to fend for themselves.
The location can get very cold and windy, especially at night, so dressing warmly is essential. I believe this place has potential if the owners invest more into it. Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend this place.

The hotel is set in the most magnificent place. It is as if one has stepped into a painting from a bygone era…lush, rolling hills, quaint farmhouses, and nothing but the sounds of birds and industrious bees to distract one from the sounds of nature. The food matches the landscape-natural, wholesome, and bursting with colors and flavor. The staff were welcoming and professional. The pool area is absolutely stunning. It is a little oasis and a nature lover’s paradise.

We stayed for a night after travelling around Sicily and wish we had longer. This property is exceptional, and the rooms / buildings deserving of an architectural magazine. I loved the sounds of the birds and being away from the crowds after spending a week on the east coast. Our room was just beautiful (bed was hard as were pillows but that seems to be the custom in Italy), with 'make your own' tea-bags and a delicious sweet treat for afternoon tea. The bathroom was stunning, complete with tub. They have a huge common room with bar and open fire/sitting area in which you could while away hours in. We ate dinner there and found the meal very disappointing, but sitting in front of the open fire in that incredible building made up for the food. Unfortunately, with a long day of travel ahead we could only stay for a quick breakfast, which we are still rueing as the fresh croissants, apple tarts, cook to order eggs, fresh juice etc looked to be one of the best breakfasts you could imagine. Staff were just lovely. If you drive in, do go to the gates and buzz to drive through to reception to unload. We didn't realise and saw the closed gates so drove to the carpark and it was a bit of a struggle over the stone path down with our bags. I am not sure I will ever make it back here, but it truly was a stay I won't forget.

Excellent hotel. It’s worth the drive on slightly broken roads to reach this beautiful resort.
