La Residenza del Reginale Hotel

Excellent location in the heart of Ortiga. The room was large, bed comfortable and the air conditioning effective. They served a good breakfast on their balcony. There is a good system that enables you to arrive at any time of day: you just call or text the proprietor when you arrive and he opens the door remotely. Your keys are then waiting inside.

I decided to publish here because Tripadvisor censored me because they earn comissions from places like Residenza del Reginale. It does not please me at all to write a very negative review on a place, but Residenza del Reginale e Vanessa fully deserve it. I had booked a room through a specialized booking site for our stay in Siracusa this May on November 18th. Asked about the hour of arrival I mentioned that most likely we would be coming to Siracusa by bus from Palermo arriving at lunch time. I cancelled the booking in the site on April 23rd, more than three weeks in advance of my arrival and many days before the headline because I opted to stay elsewhere. The B&B was certainly notified by the booking company. For my utter surprise, I got an e-mail from Vanessa saying that was not educated from me (sic) not to show up in the b&b as booked. This message really annoyed me. I do not know about being educated or not, but I was certainly not impolite at all! When I said I had cancelled the booking three weeks before, she said I had not booked through the site as I had indicated. I painstakingly sent her all e-mays showing the original booking in November and its cancellation in April and she neither apologized nor bothered to answer me. The irony of it all is that I had sent a Merry Christmas e-mail to them in December that they never bothered to answer. What a nerve to talk about politeness! Incompetence and discourtesy are a dangerous combination for a hotelier.
