I have stayed here twice and historic as it may be, the breakfast is poor and don't expect them to do dry cleaning during any Italian holiday, inlcuding the ones which last a full week, bring extra underwear. Given I'm half Italian I consider it to be an embarrassment to my own citizenship.

Historic luxury hotel, located on the sides of the cappuccinos in a fairytale setting, in Syracuse, about 2, 5 km from Ortigia. Private parking very convenient, to get to the center you can call a taxi contracted with the hotel. Nice pool with sunbeds and umbrellas always available and convenient bar where you can order sandwiches and drinks. Great cleaning, if you take the standard room at the back be careful because at night you hear a continuous noise like a generator. The staff are especially nice about the pool guy who takes a lot to do to please the customers.

The potential in this hotel is crazy. We enjoyed our stay, and the facility has most things you can ask for, but it feels a little bit like the hotel seen its best days. Can still recommend people to go here because its beautiful!

Price is more than correct and the hotel is lovely. A mix of 1860's and modern style with a huge calm swimming pool. We highly recommend to stay here for your visit of Syracuse!

Almost the heart of Syracuse but discreet and quiet elegant clean with competent and nice staff, in the pool then a really kind guy and ready to satisfy even the impossible… only sin the bathroom… a foam bath a shampoo. Really few.

The exteriors are interesting but not very well kept. The pool area is very nice and convenient. The location is not very good (20 minute walk to Ortygia thru very strange neighborhood). The interiors are mix of very nice old furnishing and very cheap reconstruction. The rooms are nice, but not very clean or comfortable, the bathroom was awful (everything plastic turned yellow ages ago, everything was damp, mold in the tub), the AC is very loud. And the breakfast was average (good selection, average taste) but with the most disgusting coffee I've ever tasted (even outside Italy). Overall the hotel really needs a big investment otherwise it will fall apart. If you get a good deal (less than €100 a night) go for it as sort of Grandhotel Budapest experience.

Beautiful Hotel, very historical and picturesque. My sister-in-law made her wedding dinner here. Fine dining, very bright rooms, then the Hotel offered him the suite as a wedding present. Toilets, clean and very efficient and equipped with every comfort.

Charming structure just outside Ortigor and the archaeological area, wonderful the bike path along the sea that starts from the latomia of the Capuchin, excellent dining rooms and swimming pool, service a bit ' youthful.

Place accessible for tourists, not far from the old Town (about 15 minuntes on foot) and at the same time very close to two places of tourist interest such as the Capuchin Latomie, and the square where there is the monument to the fallen… plus the hotel is close to the Bike path that offers walks with sea view. Services of all kinds (even for the most demanding), wide spaces. The hotel is also equipped with a great restaurant.

This hotel has style. Good breakfast. The staff very friendly. I can totally recommend this hotel we come back with certainty.

Luxury Hotel of 1862 which boasts illustrious guests, including Winston Churchill. Elegant and equipped with all comforts (swimming pool, suites with balconies, 2 bars, restaurants and rooms with Wi-Fi, ample private parking). The rooms are not always up to the luxury boasted, due to the maintenance and modernization required to maintain the standard. It is built on the Tomie of the Capuchins, an archaeological site of the Greco-Roman period, where the characteristic local limestone used for building and fortifications was extracted in blocks. Later the places, deep with respect to the road plan and for this easily controllable, were destined to prisons and Lazzareti.

Always at the top we know you for about 4 years and my stomach enjoys good health with your kitchen, I adore you…

A very nice hotel located in an old quarry where you can enjoy the view of the Tomie of the Capuchins, staff at the friendly reception is available, internally the villa to its charm with beautiful sofas a large staircase, in the restaurant you eat well.

Located on an old quarry, the surroundings and the views are unparalleled. Hotel of aspect and luxurious services in relation to the price, not so high. Relatively far from the tourist and archaeological areas, but very well connected.

Wonderful place outside but not recommended experience. Tiny rooms (measured the double is 14 sqm, the minimum of law), with beds stuck with hole in the middle (at the reception they say they are all like that). Sad breakfast with packed products. Take a ride, but don't book to sleep.

This is a great choice to visit Syracuse the hotel is about 30mn walk from the historic center. It is built in the centre of a natural amphitheatre the Capucini and near Neapolis Place laden with history in a beautiful setting. This sumptuous high-end hotel renovated in the years 60 to the charm a little outdated very well kept warm multilingual staff to your listening impeccable rooms with however a very small downside regarding the condition of sanitary equipment shower joints between Other. The restaurant offers a very good evening food only the menus are different every day and a very very good value for money. It is a hotel to recommend without hesitation.

Politi Laudien 2, practically on one of the most evocative archaeological sites in Sicily, the Tomia dei Cappuccini, with a fantastic view of the sea and a single walk away from the historical centre of Syracuse. Because of its proximity to the Capuchins, this elegant Art Nouveau villa in Syracuse boasts a truly enviable location. The Tomia dei Cappuccini is part of the impressive network of natural quarries dating to the 6th a. C. Which characterizes the city of Syracuse. In some of them the Athenian soldiers were imprisoned in the Battle of 413.

Comfort, quality of service, restaurant quality, unique location and setting… A place filled with history with a distinguished and welcoming charm.

We decided to visit the beauties of Syracuse while enjoying a bit of relaxation. We then booked for one night at Villa Politi.
Satisfied with everything. The Hotel is a wonderful and luxurious Villa of mid ' 800, in the city, but immersed in the quarry of the Thom of the Capuchins, almost overlooking the coast and with a fantastic view of the Sea of Syracuse. The Hotel is equipped with a beautiful swimming pool and a private solarium on the rocks. The rooms are cosy, elegant and equipped with all comforts. The staff… great. Careful to the customer, very kind and professional.

A gem of a hotel. Independent. Quietly efficient. Clean. Friendly. Efficient. Beautiful pool. Good food. Reasonable prices. Iconic.

Comfortable room with great view. The hotel is out of the Syracuse centre however. Huge pool. The hotel needs a coat of paint externally which would really lift the hotel.

This place is really run down. The lobby has some old classiness, but the rooms are in dire need of some work. Poorly cleaned and broken details. The shower is the smallest one I ever showered in and the water temperature fluctuates wildly at times. As for extra costs (July 2017) : pool towels are €2.50 to rent and the money goes to charity. You can use your own. The pool is free to use, big enough, and has good sunbeds. The nearby seaside section goes for €24 per session! (2 sunbeds and an umbrella. ) At breakfast they try to sell orange juice for €2 extra and remind you this is a good price, as it should be €4… All other breakfast items are included and it is of decent quality. Eggs or plates might run out though as it seems understaffed. In the evening the free Wi-Fi speed seems to go down and it can hardly be used anymore, probably a shared connection over many people. You can walk to the old center of Syracuse in about 30min if you're into walking, but it is not a particularly nice walk. Not shady or dangerous or anything, just boring and dirty at times, but perfectly doable. In summary: this hotel has lost the class it once had, and it desperately trying to make extra money off its guests in a pathetically obvious way. In my opinion it is not worth the €125 a night I booked for.

Lovely old world traditional hotel set in quiet part of Syracuse but close enough to walk into the historical old town. Nice rooms, pool area and good food at on site restaurant, with helpful & friendly staff. Ample parking, avoid parking under the trees though birds & berries will mess your hire car!

Splendid location, overlooking the Tomie of the Capuchins, a place of captivity of the Athenians defeated in the siege described by Thucydides.
The room is very quiet and comfortable.
Exemplary cleaning, impeccable staff, view of the Bay of Ortigia, magnificent Hall covered by a boiserie of precious essences, extensive parking.

Nice charming hotel on a very special and very beautiful site.

So far so perfect. Second day here and everything is stunning, not only is it located a 20 minute walk from the beautiful town of ortigia but it is central to 3 or 4 supermarkets in a beautiful friendly residential area, eateries surround it as do beautiful views. Hotel itsself is a beautiful picturesque slice of Italian history, even though the rooms are still finished with a modern touch. The pool area is quiet and private, and is a lovely spot to relax and swim. Staff are brilliant, friendly and pay attention to detail. The restaurant menu is small, but the food that was served to us was exceptional. Would highly recommend to those who are looking for some luxury with their authentic sicilian holiday.

It was a lovely experience. A Grand Hotel in the true sense of the word. The premises are old style palatial… my taste. The reception was more than warm and friendly and obliging. The room was more than adequate. Abundant hot water. Cleanliness 5 star. High ceilings and large luxurious drapes. A feeling of being treated like Royalty. The dining room had a beautiful buffet. Fresh fruit sald fresh local cheeses. No banana in the bowl a guest requested. 5 minutes later it had been sought and presented. If you like old comfortable hotels this is a darling. A winter visit.

Refined and elegant hotel. The bed was fantastic. Clean and well maintained and, crucially, recently modernized. Exquisite cuisine and excellent facilities. Highly recommended!

Nice place but don't stay here if you expect to use the pool. We came specifically because they advertised they were one of the few hotels with a pool but on the very day we went to use it, found it closed because they were cleaning it. Poor decision on their part since it was last day with a sunny forecast for a week. They should have at least waited till end of September. Won't be back. Without the pool, better to stay closer to Ortigia.

4 star who looks more like three and a half. Beautiful, well placed, with parking. The shower was a bit small and the breakfast.
