Barking dogs… all night, every night. The review could end there.
There are 4 outside dogs next door. They bark constantly. Their owner. (who I'm sure will appreciate this review) throws their food on the ground for them to scarf up… at about 8:00am. Classic abusive relationship. He thinks they appreciate him… cause he feeds them. Idiot. What a wakeup! Then they bark at the other 8 dogs in the valley… back and forth at each other all day and night. Would not be such a huge problem, and I'm a dog lover, but you have to keep the windows open to get air flow. The only air conditioning is newer circulating fans in each room.
With very little money, this could could be a first-class establishment… easily. The owners, and especially the host Antonio, who lives next door, are very attentive. He is a great guy. Any issues that come up, they are quick to address. It is a beautiful villa and I'm sure it was really something in its day. It is in much better shape than most of the buildings in Sicily. 2 of the rooms with queen beds have their own bath. The other 2 rooms share one. Bidets in all. Beds were comfortable enough, as were sheets and pillows.
Minimal kitchen stuff. Pots and pans were not nice to use. Some stuff in disrepair. We scrubbed it all before we used anything. Teflon pans with no teflon left. Unuseable pans as well. Maybe we all have ourselves to blame for taking advantage and not taking care of things that are provided over time. You get what you give.
