The Refuge Uttolo is an authentic oasis of peace immersed in the wild nature of the supramonte of Baunei; Here the time seems to have stopped, goats and calves of the surrounding shepherds graze freely careless of the cars and tourists who stop to observe and photograph them.
Located outside the Baunei housing complex, the refuge is located along the road that leads from the village to the Pedra Longa, at the foot of the Golgo plateau.
The refuge offers some rooms (4 if I'm not mistaken) and a restaurant, entirely managed by the owner, the very kind Mr. Mariano.
The rooms are simple, but always clean and welcoming and offer a large terrace with wonderful views of Monte Oro.
As for the restaurant, while being half board, Mariano has always offered dishes of the Sardinian tradition of both meat and fish, prepared with great passion and always very good.
In the warm evenings it is possible to dine in the open air under the ample porch of the refuge, while in case of more rigid temperatures the refuge offers an internal room in which to dine.
Il ristorante si trova sulla montagna quindi bello fresco nelle giornate d'agosto. Ha pochi tavoli ma il servizio è impeccabile. Abbiamo assaggiato il polpo e le fregole veramente buone e saporite, anche I dolci molto buoni. La spesa media è di circa 25 persona.
