My husband and I spent this past weekend (2 nights) at the Hotel Jafferau buying a deal on groupon … what to say! We should have realized something was wrong when, by calling to alert our arrival, we said we had seen on the site that they had rooms available and were told that the rooms reserved for groupon were not those that you could see on the site. We had to leave the car down the road because the garage is free of charge, to reach the Hotel you have to be careful because you must cross the ski slope. Upon check-in you'll be charged 5 euro deposit for the room key.
We were placed in a room in which the bed was actually a sofa bed (but joking! A 4 star hotel makes us sleeping on a couch! ), but the most shocking thing is that the room is connected to another, this means that next door were other guests (in our case a family with two children) who appeared to be in our room since the soundproofing was guaranteed by a door. There were enough but very few minutes to figure out that the problem of the soundproofing was not only due to the dividing door but walls of plasterboard probably since we could hear the conversations of all neighbours, especially at 7 in the morning when we were hoping to get some sleep but we were woken up by neighbors who wanted to go skiing. Of course the sofa bed was uncomfortable! Satellite TV took very few channels and it was a very old and tiny tv, free WI-fi was free but with a bad signal.
We thought we'd loosen up going to the SPA, so I ask the reception where the SPA and the lady behind the counter looks at me as if I had uttered a word invented by me, so I ask her where the pool and I was directed to the dungeons. We find them a decent sized pool and hot tub where you're forced to "stuck" with other guests due to the small capacity (of course operate the tub is not easy and you have to ask the help of the lifeguard who presses a button dangling), as soon as you get the lifeguard warns that the headphones are mandatory and so are sold at 3 euros each. If you need the robe you have to pay 5 euro for hire, otherwise, if you're lucky and not passed, they give you towels towels. The pool walls dripping with moisture and you realize that this is really in decline. The sauna and the steam bath are out of the pool area and contain about 4 people each, you can imagine the waiting queues.
When you go to the restaurant for dinner you will find a menu of appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes and desserts (I state that we went half board which included breakfast and dinner) and you have to pick only three courses, if you want anything else is extra (just as water and a half cup of Red poor paid 5.5 €). The food is not the best but you leave eating, the problem is that all the courses are slightly salty, but since the cost of the drinks you will understand why! The buffet breakfast is quite varied (Sundays there was so many people at breakfast that our table had been occupied by other guests, so the Manager escorted us at another table, took the cup of someone else, he banged the table cloth, he turned and put back on the table, obviously it hasn't brought the silverware which we had to ask the waiter).
The movie room is a room with a television where a girl connecting a pc and transmits the film you choose (in our case the cartoon "the Emperor's new Groove", maybe only funny of the holiday).
Being a family place forget the relaxation, more than half of the guests was under 10 years.
At the time of check-out arm yourself with patience because you need to do a beautiful tail.
The staff is friendly but not put in the condition to work properly.
