I would say it’s a very location first and foremost… 2 minutes walk from the station is excellent if you have luggage.
Service at check in slow — only is but the phone kept ringing and the lady kept answering and talking… took about 15 minutes — but hey, no problem.
Rooms — I had single room and it was by far the smallest I have ever had in Italy. My colleagues a couple had a double room which was 2.5 x bigger than mine. I would recommend a single books a double room. Everything worked well although as others reviewers say the shower is small.
Breakfast is adequate not wonderful or amazing as others say. Coffee though is very good from an automatic machine. Breakfast from 730 (the caffe bar next door opens at 6am and serves illy intenso for 1.20e)
Wall into the old town is 2-3 minutes — 10 to the Duomo.
Hotel is clean and newish.

If you get room 28, immediately request for a new room. Only 1 outlet works at night and having a physical key to lock the room from the inside seems like a safety hazard. All of the showers in this hotel are TINY. Breakfast is great.

The hotel is very clean and quiet. You can actually sleep at night without hearing your neighbors. What more does one need? The hotel is steps away from Pavia railway station and a short walk from the city center. This is an excellent hotel, I highly recommend it.
