The issues with our stay began when the renting entity would not respond to our completion of the automated check-in form or our multiple emailed requests for instructions as to how to receive the keys/check in to the property. Over four months, we tried at least eight times — not one received a response. Our first response from the renting entity arrived an hour prior to the rental becoming non-refundable — and then only indicated that they'd not received any of our prior contact attempts. We should have known something was up. Upon check-in, we were charged the cleaning fee a second time (this had already been charged upon making the reservation). We were then requested to stand in the apartment for the next ninety minutes, in a corner, while the cleaning crew came and cleaned. The twice-paid cleaning was remarkably inefficient, serving only to move dirt around. The cleaning crew did, though, help themselves to our bottle of Prosecco. Why the cleaning had not occurred prior to our arrival was inexplicable — as was the remarkable filthiness of the floors, bathrooms and bedding after the nominal cleaning. The blanket and the upper sheet of the bedding were also not changed. On the afternoon of our first full day in the apartment, the hot water heater blew out leaving us with no hot water. The renting entity did not respond to any of our emails to the service email address, forcing us to spend the following day attempting to contact them at one of several service numbers.
