It's OK if you are backpacking and traveling… Rooms are fine, it's hot specially in summer and fans are useless… The price it's good, but they charge you 15E for the pillow and blankets… So stupid but wherever…

The hostel in if it is crappy clear and the behavior with customers to know that we are Spanish was lousy go nothing advisable would look for another hostel although it was more expensive because this did not feel comfortable.

A slum. Room of a horror movie. It is more comfortable to sleep on the floor than in those mattresses. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely a mess.

The rooms are good to stay for a couple of nights. Location is also good. Bus is available to the central station easily. No toiletries provided. There is a small cafe where you can sit and have some food or coffee.

Good location. They charge you for absolutely EVERYTHING, bed sheets (this was not written on any place when booking) and keeping our bags in the hostel after 4pm. The staff was not helpful, our shower kept leaking and they didn’t do anything about it. We couldn’t close the windows in our room completely and the banister from the stairs was about to fall off. We didn’t spend that much time at the hostel but if it’s for a short stay it works. We know that the price was so high, because of the design week… but we expected more quality in general and a more helpful staff.

Bettlake are clean, that's it with the positive. The sheets must be used as a base and at the same time as a blanket, something else is not offered. The staff is incapable and unsympathetic. The lounge area is quite ok but is like a Sauner as it is under the roof.
The toilets fall apart and a bathroom molds. The price is not justified in any case for this accommodation.

If you could give 0 * I would. Very bad place, rooms with mopped bathrooms. I thought I was in an old abandoned house. The sheets I used full of stains of all kinds that just think about it I get vomiting and ah I advise you not to shower them otherwise you will come out that stink even more. For breakfast I had to wait 20 min because the bartender if so you can call, was busy talking. Breakfast with coffee stained (bad) and brioche of those of the supermarket. Very bad experience!

We are a group of 11 school pupils and stayed 4 nights at the hostel California. It was a great stay! The working staff was extremely nice to us and provided all necessary services, so our stay would be pleasant. Mario cooked Pasta and it tasted great! So if you want to order meal, ask Mario to cook for you, it is worth it! ) Thank you all from the Hostel California and stay well!

The staff was very helpful, very poor and very small, but it was very small.

The hostel has its flaws, but it's really cheap. It is not very clean, it is old, there are many beds in the rooms, you can not cook in the kitchen, but it is a really warm and comforting place. The staff were very kind and helpful. They are all very helpful and pleasant. The hostel is pretty well located.
To avoid on the other hand if you want to calm, that you have light sleep or that you need a lot of comfort.

Maybe the worst place I have ever slept. The beds are not comfortable and they have bed bugs. They clean whenever they remember.

Hell is probably more comfortable, actually, I don't even know how to stay open. The staff are rude especially if you are polite, the beds are dirty and the linen recycled, the bathrooms are seldom cleaned the rest ever… But the NAS that do… If you are desperate and without money can be a viable alternative, but only if the alternative is to sleep in the street.

Worst hostel experience until date! Dirty stinky linens bathrooms and beds. They call it a room but it's just a terrace place with a sloping roof inside, converted to a room with 12 beds and a bath. No door to the room. Every noise from downstairs is heard with echo and disturbs sleep. Not worth a single penny and was as such very costly place to stay. Safety is unheard of. Not so great staff. Had to wait for very long time everytime we wanted some help from the reception guys. Do not stay here if you have a choice.

If you like cleanliness, friendly and helpful staff, or you just want to feel safe, don't go here. They also charge more than advertised online, saying that tax isn't included on the advertised price (which is illegal). I really regret staying here, if you don't care about any of the above, feel free to go there, but if you don't want to sleep worrying about everything getting stolen, pay a bit more and stay somewhere else.

The title really speaks for itself here. My trip to Milan was a very impulsive, last-minute decision. Hence, finding a good hostel was unlikely. We only booked this hostel because it was cheap, and it seemed 'close' to the centre. In terms of location, it is not really that 'close' to the centre of Milan. Luckily, my friend and I walk everywhere, so for us, it was not a huge deal. It was around a 20 minute walk to get to the centre. However, I can see how this would annoy other guests. Moreover, the hostel itself isn't in the best area of Milan. No, it's not a dangerous area, however, you can tell that it's not the most wealthy, not the cleanest. At no point did either I or my friend feel as if we were in danger. It is also quite difficult to find at first, but it is safe in the sense you seem to ring 2 bells for 2 separate doors to get in. In terms of hostel quality, it is quite disappointing for European standards. When we first walked in, our first thought was 'Wow, this is dirty. ' The hostel is very run down, and has not been renovated in years. The lockers still require lock and key, and are very small. I don't know about other rooms, but the room my friend and I were I was very cold. We had to ask for a second blanket, as we couldn't sleep because of the cold. And yes, everything was closed, but it was poorly insulted. The bathrooms are very outdated and dirty. As for price, it was cheap, but it didn' include half as much as other hostels I've stayed in in Europe.

The usual hostel is worse than average, but within walking distance of the metro and half an hour walk to the center.

The rooms are very good. There is no word to describe this gloom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pity there is no zero to put and that much. Absolutely not recommend!

Staff very friendly, clean, professional staff, mr. Magdi reception always helpful and polite, I recommend everyone to spend a few days in this place if you visit Milan in addition to the mobility is very dynamic and well-connected. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL! I have been to many hostels and usually leave pretty generous reviews, but this hostel was just ABYSMAL! Very unclean, no toilet paper, no bin in the bathroom, mould on the ceiling, NO WORKING STOVE, very unfriendly and unhelpful staff, very shady, overall very uncomfortable, and way too expensive for what you get! The prices listed online do not include city tax or linen, so you pay about 5 Euro more per person per night than was advertised. Horrible!

Far too expensive in view of the benefits (especially as additional taxes are added for no reason), inhospitable reception, no comfort, hygiene leaving clearly to be desired… in one word: NO GO ZONE.

Little welcoming, rustling, filthy piled up to 14 in a room of 50 square meters. The photos don't match the reality. Do not advise.

Avoid! The hostel is not only dirty bad located and overpriced, but the owners are criminals! They (all from Egypt) work together, spy on the guests (always one 'worker' in the rooms as well) and try to sell a parking spot for the car for 20euro/day and will organize that your car gets broken up in the exact 15min you go into the hostel to pack your stuff. (and after ask you about it, and if you've got stuff left to steal;). ) just report them to the police and flee.

You get a bed and Wi-Fi. The restrooms are filthy and the kitchen is basically a sink and a fridge. Good for one night but I wouldn't stay there again.

AVOID AVOID! Worst hostel I have ever stayed at AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The staff are really unhelpful has a strange vibe as soon as you walk in really dirty, the rooms are filth. The price will be completely different when you arrive to the one you confirmed, when you confront the reception about it the man got really aggressive. Not safe for women traveling alone.

Worst hostel service ever. Rude, arrogant and unhelpfull workers. Once I asked for simple help in new city I got dressed-down. Definitely not worth staying there.

Female travelers alert! Please stay away from this place. It is a total joke. Don't waste your money even though it's the cheapest you can find. We didn't feel safe to stay there at all. None of the room can be locked, including bathrooms. Male receptionist walked into the female dorm should not be allowed but they did. They are rude and ignorant. You will be charging additional fees which were not listed on their website. Constantly noise inside and outside of the hostel. Our bathroom was very filthy and bedding were yucky.

Don't even think about going! It's horrible, they charge you extra and they force you to rent the towels by night and you don't even see them. The deal is awful and to sleep they give you a simple blanket. I will not go back and really or go!

I have already encountered several hostel where you do this type of practice, deceiving guests, offer beds for 7, €0, when arriving they say that there are no available when online you still see that they are available. I have encountered this type of practice in several places in Italy.

The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Typical cheap hostel with common rooms. They do not allow to carry a sack and you have to pay the sheets but it stays at a suitable price. Breakfast is Industrial pastries but good to get out of the way.

The basic room cost are fine, however they add 2 euro city tax and 3 euros for the linen on top of it, making this way too expensive. The showers don't quite work, the staff is unfriendly and not good with English.

The site is horrible, but the worst is the owners. They change you the price. We stayed one night and the next one they told us because was weekend the price was increasing to more than the double. Also the employee were friendly but very stressed cause are a few and then make everything. This must be your last chance although maybe the street is better.

We went up the rate a week before you travel. We ask you to return the money of the deposit and still have not returned. THIEVES take months to give excuses and never return anything.

The attention of the hostel was very poor. Very bad bias in the treatment and in the responses to the questions/doubts. Cleaning leaves q want, just barren rooms x where you see and in the bathroom only to empty the trash d garbage. The sheets only change the top. It covers the mattress on which the person is lying down) do not take out, and that's what they did in 3 beds q ended d do check out. Has No kitchen or space to eat if you buy food out. There are more beds than lockers.

Awful place. Don't go! I went with a friend doing biking and they told us that they had a safe place to store bicycles and charged us $ 5 extra to each one by a space that turned out to be nothing safe or special bike. In addition, the staff is rude and unfriendly. The rooms are for 14 with only one bathroom! And the bathroom was a dirt; the shower was clogged and it was flooding and there was no toilet paper. The breakfast is a piece of shit. Only advantage: cheap price, but that changes like the wind.

Good location, 10 minutes walk from M2. The hostel is pretty clean and the front desk available. But the dormitory is very small and we had to sleep with the Windows open wide for the Funk. Overall, pleased enough at the price I paid but I don't think I will be back.

Okay, the price is now the cheapest and the receptionist is unfriendly. Keep to good to them that has been renovated. The location is good with subway connection, and you must go there just long (ca. 15 min. )

Very, very unfriendly receptionist! I called to tell you that we will come to later, the elapsed night, but of course you have to pay. Then course he's 60 euros in cash for two nights, we had paid before. I understood because of his poor English, not exactly, as the cost. As a result, he was very rude and hung up! Friendly staff and a nice, colorful, and quiet place. You pay €3 extra for the bed linens. Unfortunately there was no locker with key in the room (you can bring one yourself). Also no toilet paper. But if on a budget, would still recommend.

Although at this price I expect not much I am very very surprised in the bad sense of the word, I would have to take a tent it would have been more comfortable and welcoming.

I would give zero stars if I could. Worst hostel I have ever stayed in. They advertised a low price online but when I arrived and asked for that price later they said that their 10 person room was full. They upcharged for another room. Then they doubled that price saying I had to "rent" bed sheets for the bed. I said I brought my own sheets but they said I could not do that and charged me for sheets. Then I went to the bathroom where there was no soap and no toilet paper. Later that night I arrived back at the hostel and they informed me that they had to move rooms on me because the heat was broken in the first room. By the way, they moved me to a ten person room that was empty except for one other person. That was the only other guest I saw in the place that night. I arrived to this room and the heat was broken there as well. It didn't work anywhere in the hostel. Tried to get a refund and they refused. I had to stay there with a couple of blankets because there wasn't another place to go that I knew of. FYI they are not close to the main station like they advertise. I ended up getting sick because of the broken heat. I would advise that everyone stay clear from this hostel!

No. Of safety lockers are not equal to no. People in room. Best thing is availability of kitchen and vending machine. Super market and bus stop is available in 5 min walk. Bathrooms are not so clean. So far this is the only cheaper accommodation available. Worst thing is check in is at only after 2:00 Pm. If you are looking for group accommodation this is ok option. I feel bit over priced. Staff is not so friendly.

This hostel is a scam. It was recommended to us by the people in Domus Guesthouse/Milano Station. They cancelled our reservation and kicked us out, saying there was nothing they could do but recommend this hostel. Starting from the price of 75€/night for 3 people, the people at Domus told us it was going to be 100€/night for 3 in California. When we called, they told us it was 47€/person per night. When we finally arrived at 2 in the morning they asked for 85€/person per night, obviously trying to take advantage of the fact that there was no room available anywhere else for the night. We stayed on the street that night. Police should be informed as I am sure this is an illegal operation.

Apprehended the hostel due to negative reviews on the web, staying there was actually very nice: one of the cheapest prices, near many conveniences (subway stations, railwaystation, stores…).
I came in september and the staff man I met was welcoming and helpful.
In fact, there were some extra fares due to tourism taxes, they are common in Italy.

I received their cancelation the day before my arrival to Milano. That was three months ago. The email was rude and without any explanation. I tried to call hoping for some answer… nothing! Well It was partly my fault as I booked there despite bad reviews. Now 155€ is gone! I guess their business model is to steal bacpackers and budget travelers' money. Thanks Ostello!

Extremely unfriendly staff. Very unwelcoming, unaccomodating and rude. Would not advise you to stay here, at all.

Horrible experience. You reserve by 18 euros and when you arrive is 22. Unfriendly staff, no lockers (only if you bring one from home), really hot in the summer. I took 2 nights and the guy told me tomorrow to go talk to him before going out because maybe I'll need to change! WTF.

Fucking hostel. Fucking staff, Fucking service. if you choose this hostel, you'll surely regret. first, they wanted more cost than I've seen on the Internet page. when was second day, they requested me to change my room suddenly. and didn't work toilet light, and one fucking staff was very unfriendly. i really regret to that choose this hostel. 절대 가지 마세요. 지금까지 10개국 가까운 나라를 돌면서 최악의 호스텔입니다. 일단 직원이 개싸가지없구요. 인터넷에서 본 지불해야 할 금액은 2박에 22유로인데 31유로를 요구했습니다. 뭐 이건 제가 세부 비용추가 내용을 꼼꼼하게 읽지 않았다구 치구요. 화장실 겸 샤워실은 2개인가 있는데 하나는 불이 안켜저서 밤에는 이용 못하구요. 사람은 많은데 샤워실 겸 화장실이 하나니 씻을때도 몇 번이나 문을 두드려서 짜증납니다. 가장 최악이었던건 하룻밤 자고 나서 이틀날째에 저에게 난데없이 방을 옮겨야 겠다고 해서 또 귀찮게 옮겼네요. 저는 그때 자리에 있었으니 망정이지, 구글 후기보니까 어떤 외국인은 자리에 없었는데도 불구하고 지들 멋대로 방과 짐을 옮기다가 물건도 잃어버렸는데 배상도 안해준다고 했습니다. 싼값에라도 아쉬워서 가지 마세요. 하루에 그깟 10~20유로 아끼겠다고 이탈리아에서 우리 국민들이 이런 대접을 받아야 할 이유가 없습니다. 이런 호스텔은 손님이 끊겨 망해 봐야됩니다.

NO GO, never ever again. Dirty, unfriendly staff, we had to move to an other room almost every night. We came back one night and they have brought our luggage in an other room, without asking us. Some of my things were missing and they didn't find it and didn't replace it. Worst hostel ever.

Nightmare — HOSTAL A NO GO — Worst Hostal unfriendly staff, dirty, in the barracks style. In my entire life. I travel with my backpack for 15 years. It was the bad experience of all time. I should pay 15 € per night, 10 euros per night I booked. I had a discussion with the owner, so I went. Hostal in California, I should stay for 15 euros in a 16 bed dorm? Is that cheap? I got a private room for 20 euros per night in a guesthouse. I prefer hostels, but Hostal California is not a Hostal it is a barracks.

WORSE HOSTEL EVER! It´s more like a ZOO! Beds and walls full of bedbug and flea! I had to move out at midnight because I denied myself to sleep on those conditions. So after been told by the staff that I brought the bugs and fleas on me, I got them to book me an other hostel (Black and White — which was way better for the same price), because they were full (but I really belive that they knew they would have the same problem in all beds, as I checked myself other two beds and they were infested! ). If you mind about your healthy, dont cross even in front of it.

I had reservation on the internet by paying 10% of the room rate for 2 people. The Egyptian who holds the reception, refused me the room and refused me the refund, he try to blackmail by offering a room at 65 euros, stored a few minutes after at 45 euros. It is a thief and a con man. To avoid, hotel entrance full of dirt. Presence of tramps in the customer. Musty smell.

The disproportionate price quality. Dirty beds and bathroom not as hygienic. For 18 € per night is definitely worth it. Located in an area of Milan far from the station and dangerous at night, especially for girls.

They charge extra once you arrive, sleeping quarters are 16 to a room and the bathrooms are not as clean. Common area is ok.

My girlfriend and I recieved a bad case of bedbugs while staying here, we are still trying to get rid of them and the itchiness is very uncomfortable. Although it is cheap, the staff are unfriendly, do not speak very good english, (if that matters) the showers leak, there are no seats to the toilets and the only breeze available is when you open your windows to the night air, and insects. Although no smoking signs are posted everywhere everyone smokes, including staff and cleaning ladies as they trundle along with linen. The kitchen is tiny, if functional and the metro is about 5-10 minute walk away. The building itself is patchwork and you will find exposed wiring in most hallways and bare, mudded drywall is quite common to see. The doors do not lock, so after the initial door (which requires you to be buzzed in, it sometimes broke through the day leaving you stranded until it started working again or someone let you in) anyone is free to go anywhere. The Wi-Fi is also rather terrible. We were able to figure out that if anyone is ever at reception it usually dies until they leave, requiring multiple attempts to reconnect only to die again. Fortuneately they are rarely at reception, but we were unable to book a room elsewhere because of this.
