Staying at Olive Tree Hill is like staying with friends in an incredibly peaceful haven. Real talk: you haven’t scheduled enough time to see everything in Rome that you want to see. Ivano will help steer you right. You’ll get to see Rome through not only local eyes, but native eyes. And then you’ll wake up in an olive grove to birds chirping. If you want a cookie cutter tourist in Rome experience, this is not for you, but if you want a magical stay and a new way to see the eternal city, this is the place.
We first stayed here 9 years ago. We were driving through Italy and wanted a place to see Rome from without dealing with the car. This was perfect. By the time we left we felt as if Ivano & Tehri were old friends and hoped to return just to see them. This visit (without the car) was all we hoped for and more. After ticking all the "must see" sights on previous trips, Ivano managed to open new windows through which to see and enjoy Italy. History discussed over breakfast, local wine tastings organized, exploring the center of Zagarolo and meeting the people who live there, enjoying a midday beer together — it all added up to more than a stay, it was an experience. And on our last day Ivano introduced us to an amazing restaurant, and owner Guilio, that surpassed all expectations. As seasoned travelers it is rare to be surprised by genuine hospitality like this. Thanks, Ivano and Terhi, for once again extending your insights, knowledge and warm hospitality to us. We plan to return!

Cordial thanks to Terhi and Ivano making our 5-day holiday memorable. It was so nice to have Olive Tree Hill, next to historical Zagarolo, as our base to learn about Italian history, culture and cuisine. Ivano, a true historian, walked us through the interesting local history of the neighborhood. We learned much more about our interests having the accommodation outside of busy Rome city. Rome city already early March was too crowded for us. We visited Zagarolo town, the weekend market at Zagarolo guided by Terhi & Ivano. Wine tasting and tour at the vineyard we also highly recommend. We got lift by to fascinating Palestrina and Tivoli and had self-guided tours there. Transfer service to and from Zagarolo train station was most useful and made our movements efficient. Train to Rome city took only 35 minutes, where we spent 2, 5 days walking long distances and making some well planned shopping. Last, but not least, I took Ivano's cooking class. We made eg ravioli and ragu, chicken and Mont Blanc as dessert. I learned a lot and got nice boost and further inspiration to my own cooking from Ivano — thanks a lot. I already cooked using my learnings.
Warm thanks to Terhi & Ivano.
