La Gemma

We had a wonderful time at La Gemma. The B&B was centrally located in the city and was on a main street. Gemma was warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about her city. Getting to the B&B was tricky. After you took the lift to the third floor you still had a flight of stairs to carry your luggage up, then you had to cross a rooftop terrace. Gemma was extremely helpful with our luggage and in navigating our way to the B&B. Once inside everything was clean, comfortable and inviting.

We had a wonderful stay at La Gemma for 5 nights.
Even before our stay, the owner Gemma was already very helpful. She not only requested what we would like for breakfast, so the options would be tailored, but she also informed us about vegan restaurant recommendations. That was very helpful.
The location is ideal, right next to the city centre and the metro.
When we arrived, she welcomed us personally and also made sure we had the best trip. With recommendations about restaurants, day trips and transportation.
The rooms are perfect, and have everything that you might need. The surrounding streets can get busy but you don't really notice the noise inside. Only when the window was open, so we aired before we wanted to sleep. It was a world of difference with the other place in Naples we stayed at.
Breakfast is good, and personalised based on the info you provided beforehand. Gemma also makes great fresh vegan cakes. She wants everyone to feel included. She even has a vegan gluten free chocolate cake recipe on hand.
Next time in Naples, we know where to stay.

Le Gemma BnB is perfectly located in Piazza Dante just around the corner to the Naples historical old town. The metro is there and allows an inexpensive way to get around town. Gemma is the owner and has been running the BnB for 8 years. She is a wonderful hostess and was SO helpful giving us advice on where to go and eat. She was in constant communication with us before and during the trip. The BnB is a small operation with just a few rooms which allows her the chance to be involved with her guests if you want it. The breakfast was really good too. Recommend without hesitation. — This is our second trip to Naples. Steve & Janet (Iowa).

Our stay at La Gemma this past week was really wonderful. The accommodations were so very nice and clean and peaceful and Gemma provided a warm welcome and great advice about Naples based on our interests. She was available to us throughout our stay and answered all our questions right away. The breakfast was just what we wanted. There really couldn't be a better, more central location for exploring Naples. We heartily recommend La Gemma and hope we may have the chance to stay there again in future.

I stayed for 3 nights at this wonderful hotel for a work trip over the weekend. Gemma is a very kind an amazing host. Very welcoming, informative and kind. Her communication throughout my whole stay and even prior to me arriving was very professional. As I was in Naples for a short work trip, I only had one day to explore the city and upon arrival, she had already mapped out all the places to visit and see and even gave suggestions on all the best places to eat. On the day I checked out, I was leaving first thing in the morning and she even managed to rustle up some items for breakfast before the official opening time. The room was lovely and cozy. It was in a good location as well being close to many areas and right next to Dante Metro station. Thank you so much Gemma! I'll be sure to return if I'm ever in Naples again.

Everything about our stay at La Gemma was outstanding. The communication on finding the location, including the photo was so helpful. We were well informed that we needed a coin for the elevator and that there would be a set of stairs as part of the entry process. We were met for the final entry. The registration process was a breeze. We were then given wonderful information on the city, restaurants (based on our interest) and pointers for our visit to sights. A full tour of the room including how to operate the windows and air conditioning was provided. Our breakfast preferences were requested and an outstanding breakfast was provided — including homemade sweet breakfast cake. Our second day we needed to leave very early in the morning and breakfast foods were provided to start our day. The communication about and help booking airport transportation worked out great.
Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well stocked. There was no noise and we were able to darken the room for a great night's sleep.
The location was good for us with the Metro, major walking streets, and restaurants all close by.
I would look to stay at La Gemma again should we return to Naples. The friendly atmosphere, great location and good price make it top notch.

La Gemma B&B is an absolutely incredible choice for a place to stay in Napoli! Gemma is a gracious host who provides wonderful tips from a local and makes you feel right at home. She truly is a gem, as is this apartment! :)

There are many travel agents who warn about visiting Naples because of criminal activities. My friend and I experienced nothing but friendlines and politeness. We stayed out until 10 pm sitting in the wonderful Piazza where the building was located and never felt threatened or insecure. LaGemma B&B was much better than staying at a hotel because the bedroom was large and the breakfast area large and well equipped. Our host served the breakfast we requested and she made homemade cake, other sweets and suppled fresh fruit in addition. Further, the B&B was on the 3rd floor and the top of that wing of thebuilding, air conditioned and had nice skylight windows that could be controlled with a handheld to be opened during cooler days and had shades that could be electronically closed on sunny days to keep the room cooler. The bathroom was much larger than those we experienced in hotels. The one thing that we experienced in hotels and in this B&B, which is typical in most European countries, is that the shower stall was small with two sliding glass doors to retain the shower water. However, the floor was very smooth and slippery. The owner/host provided a towel to put on the floor of the shower, which solved the problem of slipping. It was a perfect solution because my friend was much older and unsteady on his feet, so I was worried that he might slip.

Gemma is a wonderful host. La Gemma is perfectly located in Piazza Dante, and Gemma was kind enough to point out the must see/visits. Not one recommendation missed!
The rooms are fantastic, the beds are so comfortable. It’s such a peaceful stay in the middle of it all and such amazing value.
Next time we come back to Naples, we are definitely coming back to La Gemma.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights and it was a great stay. Gemma was a very welcoming host, offered a great breakfast and had a lot of good recommendations for places to eat around town. The location was convenient to the attractions we wanted to see and very close to the train. There were a lot of stairs to get to the hotel and a tiny elevator. We travel with carry on backpacks so the stairs we not a big deal. We quickly learned during our travels around Italy that all cities and most hotels have stairs so it is just part of the experience. I would highly recommend!

La Gemma is a wonderful, quiet B&B in the heart of Naples, right next to the vibrant old part of the city at Piazza Dante. It's easy to reach by metro and taxi and although it is very active and quite noisy outside, La Gemma is quiet and cozy since its in the patio and on top of a building. The host Gemma is super friendly, helpful and our room was all clean and comfortable with AC, nice noice cancelling Velux window and a spacious en suite bathroom. Gemma takes your individual breakfast orders and she can help you with all your questions you have about Naples and to get around. We loved to stay there and definitely recommend it to our friends.

Really nice place where we have stayed in 5 days.
Gemma is a wonderful person that will do the ekstra so you get the best experience.
We will most definitely come back when we travel to Napoli again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was modern, clean and bright. Breakfast was excellent. The central location opposite the Dante metro was very convenient for exploring Naples.

Gemma is an incredible host — genuinely one of the best B&B hosts I've ever had. She is extremely accommodating and incredibly helpful with trip planning. The B&B is very cozy and has everything you'd need on your trip. Cannot recommend Gemma and her B&B enough!

I loved staying at this bed and breakfast located on the roof of a building in Piazza Dante. Gemma is a wonderful, friendly host and the location is excellent for exploring Napoli. It is right near a metro station. There were plenty of vegan options for breakfast (as well as non-vegan). Gemma bakes a cake every few days and brings it in for her guests! I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Gemma!

Gemma was very responsive and arranged a shuttle and had a to go breakfast prepared for us since our departure was so early. The air conditioner was cold and the bed was comfortable. Gemma made us feel at home. La Gemma was very conveniently located — I did not realize just how convenient it was. We were only steps from the historical section and the archaeological museum. We were able to see everything we wanted to see in the short amount of time we had allotted. Felt very safe as well. I would stay here again and will recommend to my friends and family.

This is the perfect bed and breakfast stay in Naples! Gemma was an amazing host, going above and beyond to help us navigate our way through this lively city. She offered great recommendations for dinner and provided clear detail on how to transport around the area. The rooms were great sizes and very clean. It’s located in the center of town which is very helpful when wanting to explore. I will be recommending La Gemma to future friends who travel to Naples.
