Il Borghetto Resort & Spa

Il Borghetto is genuinely beautiful, well designed, pristine clean and immediately relaxing on arrival. The pool is a salt water pool (no salt taste by the way) with no added chemicals which makes for a very fresh and soft water experience. Complete with a shaded reading area and kiosk bar serving drinks and food. We stayed in a superior room with balcony overlooking the pool area and out to the sea (I believe they all do unless you select a garden view) which was modern, well laid out with great functional air conditioning and a large bathroom with walk in shower. Spacious bedroom area with high ceilings adding an additional layer of comfort. Supplied with a fridge full of soft drinks (chargeable on use) and standard kettle and beverages.
Practical considerations, you do ideally need a car to make the most of the area to.
Visit the centre and the beach / port. There is no restaurant at the hotel, so go and enjoy what are a selection of incredible and varied eateries with the Romano restaurant associated with the hotel which is a cut above the rest with exceptional local cuisine and taste. (you pay a little more but you don't have to dine there every night). There is also a very good restaurant/ pizzeria within 5 minutes walk of the hotel called the Locanda if you wanted to stay local.
If you like walking then walk to the centre but it gets humid, taxis are available and parking is best achieved earlier in the evening.

What a find! After traveling extensively, I can confidently say this hotel in Calabria is a hidden gem. The fact that it's family-owned and operated adds such a special warmth and quality to the hospitality that you rarely encounter.
Our family absolutely loved our two rooms, perfectly situated with a lovely view of the pool and the stunning ocean beyond. And the breakfast? It's a highlight you won't forget! Freshly made by the owners each morning, it was so incredibly tasty and comforting that we savored every bite.
We're already planning our return for a longer stay because we simply fell in love with Calabria, and this hotel was a huge part of it. A heartfelt thank you for making our family feel so welcome and cared for!

This resort is a wonderful respite from the busy town of Tropea. We moved here when our original accommodations in town didn’t work out and are so glad that we did! The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the pool is gorgeous with a small lunch menu and bar available throughout the day, chill music playing, and very friendly service. There are several day beds under some palm trees and seating areas throughout the property. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern. We had three rooms and the best one was which was sea view with a very large patio with lounge chairs and seating area. The best part of the stay is how friendly the service is. Manuel took great care of us and shows a great deal of pride in the resort and his family business. His grandmother’s house is the original structure of the property and is now where they serve breakfast to guests each morning. It as such a nice blend of family heritage with modern amenities. My only regret is we found this at the end of our trip and could only stay for one night. I hope to be back for a longer stay one day!

Borghetto Creative Resort was recommended to us by a good friend who was staying there 6 years ago. We were not disappointed. It was absolutely the right decision to stay at this cozy and lovely place. We have been staying at this hotel for one week.
The highlight of the resort is the pool area, swimming pool with the salt water and amazing garden with a lot of beautiful palm trees. You are feeling a bit like in jungle.
We also liked the daily breakfast with local specialities which has been prepared with a lot of love. The rooms and the hotel area incl. Swimming pool have been cleaned every day so everything looked tidy how it should be.
The hotel staff was always very friendly and helpful even as we have asked for the late check out, they allowed us to stay longer at the hotel room without any extra charge. We really appreciated it. You just feel welcome at this resort.
We definitely recommend this hotel and would come back again.

We recently stayed at Il Borghetto, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service fell short of our expectations. During check-in, the receptionist completely ignored my wife, addressing all information only to me. It was not only awkward but also very rude.
The pool, supposedly a highlight of the hotel, was unavailable until 10 AM due to “maintenance. ” When we asked for an explanation, the staff informed us, unapologetically, that it was a pool with salt that required cleaning up every morning. For a hotel of this caliber, one would expect a pool available from early morning.
At nearly €300 per night, we expected a certain level of comfort that was unfortunately lacking. The room had curtains that did little to block out the light, waking us up at the crack of dawn, and the walls were so thin that we could hear our neighbors walking and plugging and unplugging their devices! The lack of soundproofing is truly disappointing.
Lastly, we were excited to sleep in a round bed, but that excitement quickly faded when we discovered the sheets were as rough as hospital linens. A bit more softness would have gone a long way in making the experience more comfortable.
In summary, this hotel seriously lacks attention to detail for the price it charges. With better service at the reception, improved soundproofing, and higher quality sheets, the experience could have been much more enjoyable.

There was no restaurant. The restaurant was in town, 10 min drive, but was very good.
Food & Drink forbidden to be brought into the hotel, even though there was no bar or restaurant. There was a small kiosk by the pool for drinks and snacks. 12 noon — 6pm.

This lovely resort run by the wonderful Romano family is beautiful and peaceful. The pool is lovely and breakfast each morning in the garden is wonderful. It is just a short taxi ride away from Tropea and a nice break from when Tropea gets busy.

The hotel is lovely and calm. Nestled in the hills just outside Tropea old town (not even 10 minutes to town on foot), this is an oasis. The team are so lovely. We were served by Federica, who greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly buongiorno 👋 We will be back for sure.

This was truly one of the best hotels of my stay in Italy. Francesco and all of the staff are so lovely and welcoming and accommodating. They let me stay by the pool after checking out and had the most delicious breakfast everyday. What a gem when I was feeling a bit sick and needed a break away from travelling. The rooms are beautiful and well kept.

Our family were fortunate enough to stay at this lovely resort for 5 days in early July. On the whole our experience was fantastic I would recommend to anyone who wants to relax outside the hustle and bustle of Tropea. Our room was spacious, with a good size bathroom. The room had a balcony over looking the attractive pool area and views out to the sea. The hotel grounds are meticulously landscaped with beautiful plants, flowers and trees. The pool was immaculate and clean with comfortable loungers and towels provided. There is a pool bar available and snacks accompanying the drinks. There is a small selection of toasted sandwiches / salad's available for lunch. Breakfast was a highlight with traditional Calabrian fare as well as the option for eggs / omelettes etc housed in a beautiful outdoor setting. The service was excellent — the property is family owned and you can see the care and attention & pride they put into their customers and work. A couple of things to note that maybe useful — none of which affected our experience too negatively largely due to the boutique nature of the hotel. There's no laundry service, so if you need to wash clothes, bring some laundry powder! The resort is just outside Tropea and not practically walkable (no paths and quite hilly) — as we didn't have a car we had to get a taxi to Tropea each night for dinner — dinner not available at the hotel (budget 5 Euro per person each way — no shuttle provided).

A lovely place, where kindness is the master, we thank Federica sweet and also her husband, who immediately advised and welcomed us.
Clean, beautiful, stylish rooms and we loved the atmosphere of the garden and pool.
Thanks to those who delighted us with the super breakfasts and to the girl who brought us cappuccino and latte macchiato every morning, a kiss.

Beautiful new newly built hotel.

We had two relaxing days here. Beautifully designed building and rooms in Italian modern luxurious style. Breakfast is served in the open air on a very picturesque setting and something to experience. The host was the nicest guy, gave us the family history of the borghetto. Planning to return again.
