WARNING hotel will not permit you to bring a friend to your hotel room. During a storm my friend and her children (ages 2-9) were on the beach nearby and I invited them to see the storm from my room (which has 2 beds and a beautiful view and balcony) rather than stay out in the cold. The hotel receptionist stopped us and told me they had to stay downstairs. I couldn’t believe it and said they should call the manager, and I heard the receptionist describing that my friend had her three girls and baby boy with her. To my disappointment and surprise the manager confirmed my friend and her kids could not come upstairs with me and we had to stay downstairs in the lobby. While we waited out the storm one of my friend’s girls had to use the bathroom and they were told to go down the street. We were also told that one of the girls could not eat our own banana. Finally, the hotel staff removed candy from the lobby after each girl took a couple of pieces. When the baby boy wet his diaper they at least did let us change him — just in a public bathroom rather than the privacy of my room. In other ways the hotel and the staff are very nice, and it has Wi-Fi which is the only reason I chose it, but folks should be aware of this strange rule and distainful attitude toward families (why not let a little girl eat her own banana? ). Edit: hotel provided a brief written response with no apology noting that only the registered guests are permitted to be in your room at any time.
