Hotel Barbieri

Amazing views, very polite and friendly family run hotel.
Nothing is to much trouble, nice clean rooms, great breakfast, on site bodega.
They ran a free shuttle to a local restaurant with local music and owned and run by the same family, lovely evening out.
Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place to stay! I was there as part of a Titan group holiday last week. Such a welcoming family and idyllic location and wonderful food and views. I had a room with a view across to the old town and it was so lovely to sit on the balcony and admire the area and the spectacular sunrise. A real treasure!

This is not a luxurious hotel but the surroundings are stunning. The food has been good and the staff are so friendly that they can’t do enough for you.
We are on a saga trip and have been made to feel so welcome.
The views from the terrace are astounding.

A gem of quiet elegance on a rugged mountain top. Understated and accommodating. This was a perfect stop for me driving from southern Italy to Rome. The waiter in the excellent dining room watched me devour my dinner pasta. Seeing there was only a taste of sauce left on the bottom of my plate, he said, “Would you like a little piece of bread to soak up that last bit of sauce. ” What a thoughtful gesture!

We loved the welcoming friendly interaction with the family Barbieri and their employees! Great service, Great food, Great place!

First time in Altomonte and had a fantastic stay at the Barbieri. All of the staff and the family are very welcoming and accommodating. We had a great dinner in the restaurant served family style. We did not take advantage of the pool but it was very nice looking. Highly recommend and will be back again Grazie Mille Barbieri.

We were on an “all inclusive” tour when presented with this hotel, first impressions were good. It scores on its location high on a hill opposite the town itself on the opposite hill. However, on detailed inspection, the hotel is dated. The rooms were small and basic. Ours was gloomy and the TV didn’t work nor the air conditioning.
You can never be certain how much a tour company dictates what you receive but whilst we found the food acceptable it was not great. There was a limited menu, all pre-booked the day before and served plated. The included wine was little more than “petrol”, absolutely undrinkable. The wine on offer for sale is little better. It is family run and they work like Trojans and are accommodating and friendly. We were looked after very well. Perhaps we were at the end of the season but the hotel looked undermanned with areas blocked off and all in all, uninviting.
There is absolutely nothing in the vicinity and to walk to the town on the opposite hill is a hard “slog” and it has very little to offer other than a small church and a viewing square at its peak. The bar was frequently unattended and the lounge gloomy and uninviting. A nice terrace invites but here the service is erratic. Three nights here was more than enough.

Stayed here for three nights as part of a Titan tour. Apart from the group, there appear to be few other guests staying. Staff were great really friendly, not all could speak Italian though this wasn’t a problem. Swimming pool was good, though sunbeds had seen better days. As it was so quiet the pool bar wasn’t open, so if you wanted a drink you had to go up the stairs which was a shame as I’m sure if we had had pool service we would all have drunk more if served by the pool. My room had a beautiful view over the town. Room was clean, shower was a bit small but at least the water was hot. Food was good, one night we were taken to the hotel’s restaurant in the old town. Food there wasn’t great but we had so traditional music for entertainment.

Recently paid a visit to this hotel and had an excellent stay. The big plus point of this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The hotel is on the edge of the town with a 10 minute walk to the centre. Very picturesque town but also very hilly. If you have walking problems then avoid.
Excellent swimming pool and the food was good. I would thougherly recommend this hotel, really enjoyed our stay.
The only negatives were the size of the shower which was minute. I understand some rooms are being refurbished. Keep up the good work.

The hotel gives the appearance of being lifted from a film set. It is 500 feet high and situated on one side of a valley. The town is on the other. There is a terrace over looking the town with seating and large umbrellas. Several bedrooms have a balcony providing a panoramic view of the countryside. And town's church on top of the hill. There is a lovely view of the town in the evening when it is lit up. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere as it is family run. Items for breakfast suit all tastes. You pre-order your evening meal. The pool area is a good place to relax.

This is a family run hotel, perched on top of a hill in the village of Altomonte. You need transport to get anywhere. The views from my balcony were stunning, I could see the sea on my right and mountains in front and to the left of me. The food was satisfactory, staff were pleasant. Tea and coffee making facilities available in everyone’s room. Every evening we were there, there was a party on the terrace. The parties could get quite loud but I just put my earplugs in. The family own and run the Cantina restaurant on top of another hill and we had a very pleasant evening there with entertainment provided by 2 more members of the family. Although it was mid June and Italian school holidays, the hotel was very quiet. Old fashioned room keys with heavy fobs made sure you left them when you went out or didn’t take them with you when you left. We didn’t have to pay a tourist tax at this hotel.

Lovely family run hotel. Cost hotel, well run by the family. Rooms slightly dated, but this added to it's charm. Wi-Fi is spasmodic, but the beautiful scenery and hotel outlook more than make up for this. Would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing holiday.

Thanks to a tennis tournament we discovered this fantastic Hotel surrounded by nature equipped with every comfort.
A wonderful reality Altomonte small village in the mountains of Cosenza, between Castrovillari Cosenza.
The family Barbers with all the staff excellent in hospitality, in the kitchen (almost all at km0) with a variety of appetizers, first courses, second courses, desserts. Anti-covid presidi19 constantly adopted in all internal and external areas. A four-star hotel with attention to detail especially in the areas of the. Lunch / dinner on beautiful and well-kept terraces. Hearty breakfast. Hotel with a large swimming pool and various green spaces where you can spend moments of relaxation. The only noise is that of cicadas. Breathtaking view of the castle of Altomonte, the Church of San Francesco and the whole village with the Church of the year 1000 in the historic center that with its Rose Window in the central facade makes it Queen.
a scenario that at nightfall becomes even more scenic and romantic.
With the hope of returning next year we strongly recommend this four-star excellence (even if you have the impression of being in the family) since excellence should be praised and made known to the whole world.
