Booked a 2BR/2BA, got a hotter-than-outside room with no AC, no hot water, no elevator, and a downgrade to a studio at full price — avoid this place.
Our stay at Lu Leccio was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
We booked a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment for our family of four. Upon arrival, the elevator was broken, so we carried all of our bags up to the second floor. When we got to our room, the air conditioning wasn’t working. The owner’s response was dismissive — he told us to “just open the windows” in 92°F heat.
We were then downgraded to a much smaller studio with only one bed and one bath, but charged the same price. The following day, we were moved again into another two-bedroom unit, but that room had no hot water in either bathroom. When we raised this, the owner simply said “cold showers were fine” — unacceptable, especially with two young children.
We were forced to leave mid-vacation and scramble to secure another hotel during the holiday season. Instead of delivering the accommodations and amenities we booked and paid for, we were inconvenienced, downgraded, treated poorly, and left feeling uncomfortable. Ten days later, we are still fighting with both the hotel and Booking. Com for a refund — even for the two nights we endured there under these conditions.
As I told the hotel: this was like paying for a pizza and being served half a frozen pie with no sauce or cheese.
I strongly caution anyone considering this property.
Such a great place, a great location right at the entrance to the historical district of Lecce.
Not super fancy but very clean. Some things need replacing and updating but what.
Makes this place so incredibly special though is truly the small staff. Specifically Flavia and Carmen really made us feel welcome and appreciated us. They really treated us like they’re extended family and I can tell you that when you are so far away from home it’s nice to feel welcome and appreciated.

An elegantly restored palazzo next to the Porta Napoli. Chic and comfortable with easy access.
We received a very warm welcome at LuLecchio — The staff and owner were very helpful and made us feel at home when we arrived. The apartment was very elegantly decorated and comfortable. Roberto, our host renovated the entire building and did so with much care and attention to detail. Every space in the hotel is beautifully restored. In the morning, we were welcomed by the chef and started the day with a few delicious coffees. The breakfast service included freshly baked torta di mela, fresh fruit, and eggs from the owner's farm cooked to order. Our children loved the pancakes and fresh orange juice.
Roberto provided us with a number of recommendations — we followed his advice and visited a few beautiful towns that were not part of our original plan. There are many scenic drives and nature walks nearby to Lecce that we were happy to explore. His restaurant recommendations were great. We also followed his advice to visit a local antiques market and found a small, beautiful sculpture from the 7th century that we were able to purchase as a memento of our stay in Salento. We were very happy to have landed at LuLecchio and would certainly stay here again on our next visit to Puglia.
