Brandon Hotel Tralee Brandon Hotel Conference & Leisure Centre

I had to travel down to Tralee from Dublin at very short notice and needed somewhere to stay, B&B, for three nights. I found the Brandon Hotel to be very satisfactory in all regards so I am surprised to read many of the criticisms which, in my opinion, are unfair and based upon unrealistic expectations.
(1) my bedroom was quiet, clean and comfortable with a good bed that was easy to sleep in. Importantly, although not cold, the bedroom was not uncomfortably hot. I slept very well. The room was properly serviced and cleaned in good time each morning. Water was consistently hot for showers whenever I wanted;
(2) breakfast was excellent, with good service, good orange juice, nice breads, nice tea and a very tasty freshly cooked hot meal;
(3) premises has fast, reliable, working Wi-Fi (my bedroom did NOT have a Smart TV) ;
(4) overall the premises are kept clean and well attended to;
(5) the secret gem here was the gym — this is one of the biggest, best, most well equipped hotel gyms that I have ever come across and use is free to residents. This really made the trip for me, a real surprise treat;
(6) I did not have lunches or dinners in the hotel but the location, directly central to Tralee, leaves a wide range of restaurants within quick walking distance all of which were perfectly good.
Well recommended and I look forward to returning.
Hotel does not operate a "room charge" for residents so all teas, coffees, drinks, snacks etc must be paid for at the time of order.

Shockingly bad. We paid €750 for 2 nights for 2 adults and a child and couldn’t wait to get home. The hotel on arrival was old, dinghy and appeared to need a full face lift. The lobby is shabby and has 2 filthy couches. The receptionists are unfriendly and don’t like to be bothered with any questions. They were so rude. We were told on arrival that a deposit was to be paid if we required towels but they wouldn’t accept cash and we couldn’t get cash back in the bar. When asked if there was somewhere close by with an atm she shrugged her shoulders. The towels would need to be returned (dirty) to reception upon check out for our deposit to be returned. There is one lift for the whole hotel so it is always busy. We were staying on the second floor beside the stairs and the walls were like paper. There were kids running up and down the hallway until 2/3am every night and hammering on guests bedroom doors. When we entered our room it was Baltic and the window was wide open with a storm outside and the curtains hanging outside the window. There was NOTHING in the room. No bath mat on the slippery bath base for showering, no kettle, no valance sheets covering the ancient dusty and stained bed bases. It was truly awful. The carpet was filthy, the mirrors were filthy and the surfaces hadn’t been cleaned in weeks by the looks of things. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. There were several missing bulbs from lamps in the room.

Terrible breakfast and group dinner. I brought a group tour of 20 people for a 2 night stay. Our group dinner was atrocious with very small portions, limited choices and dried out mains. The room was large and felt like we were eating in a high school cafeteria. The breakfast was even worse. Powdered scrambled eggs, no other egg choices. Dried out sides, coffee in a pump flask. I had numerous complaints from my group. The rooms were adequate and the bar was fine. I will never bring another tour to the Brandon.

A great location for Tralee high st. A wonderful little Cafe called Christina's just past Tesco. Got a wonderful recommendation from hotel staff to local pub called Kirbys Brogue Inn, huge meals with great atmosphere.
Brandon Hotel itself had great rooms but no air-conditioning or fans so can be still and warm.
Staff were really professional and helpful. Special call out to young Evan and Isabel who made our time relaxed and enjoyable with their professional and friendly service… their a credit to the hotel.
Be aware if your touring with a group you may need to reserve a table for dinner in bar… which is despite its size really cosy and relaxing.

The rooms were well maintained and a good size. The property looks to be in generally good maintenance. The rooms are a little old fashioned but very functional. The shower is a bath combo. But easy enough to get in and wide enough.
The Wi-Fi when we were there was atrocious. They said it was due to to many people being there. We had to put up with it. The on house bar also gets busy. I found it hard to get service there. Other options in town.

Check in was OK if the parking situation was more defined things would be easier.
Went for a meal in the bar waited at "Please wait to be Seated " sign for 10 minutes no one arrived. I walked up to a young lady and said I would like a table please for my family DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION? WAS THE QUESTION ABRUPTLY MAY I ADD … The bar was completely empty. A reservation I replied? I'm staying at the hotel if its a problem I will go elsewhere? No please sit menus given. The attitude was lazy ignorant and absolutely appalling. Don't know the name but a young lady with glasses with absolutely no manners whatsoever. I have worked in the industry for over 25 years and by god this was shocking. It was like we were a burden, I overheard her speak to a regular customer apparently and some colleague was late for their shift so this was the attitude? Management what the actual hell this is madness. We paid a fortune to stay we expect at least a but of respect. Investigate your staff absolutely appalling.

Very good price great location. Staff very nice rooʻms clean and comfortable. Breakfast a bit disappointing. Cooked breakfast no fried eggs or beans. Some fresh fruit salad would be nice. Coffee not great at breakfast. Very close to town. Free parking at back of hotel. Leisure facilities available.

It is a lovely hotel, old but great location and nice leisure centre too. But the food menu and portion size should be looked at. I also think the bar needs a bit of attention. Staff are very nice and friendly but I think the design of the bar and service should be looked at as you could be waiting for ages to be served. I don’t for one second blame staff, I think owners / management could easily address it with better training!

This hotel is perfectly located in Tralee, a walk from all amenities. Unfortunately that's the only positive I have. This hotel looks Majestic from the road, but once you step inside it all goes downhill very fast. The rooms are Very dated, dull and uncomfortable. I'd hate to think how old the mattress was (🤮) the TV didn't work, we asked for it to be fixed but it wasn't. There was No air-conditioning, the room was like a sweat box. So after all this we weren't expecting Breakfast to be much better… we were right. The bacon wasn't cooked, people were going through it looking for the actual cooked bits, fruit in a bowl (not chopped) that has seen better days, 3 croissants on a plate in plastic wrappers. Then the duty manager in the corner discussing the rota with staff and an angry staff member, giving out about hours. All while patrons ate. Disgusting n disgraceful. Lastly, don't be fooled by pictures on the hotel page, they're definitely false, especially the bathroom.

Where do I start…
The good points.
1. Location to town centre is very good.
The bad points.
1. First room we were put was very small and very dated, smelled musty and bathroom badly in need of a lick of paint.
2. Moved to another room which was larger but again still dated and needing a touch up.
3. Our room couldn't be locked from the inside as latch wouldn't turn.
4. TV didn't work and after asking reception to have someone call up … well it still wasn't working when we checked out after our 2 night stay.
5. Mattress was sunken and definitely in need of replacing.
6. Breakfast was such a let down, bacon was hardly cooked and the sausages and pudding didn't look any more appealing. Fruit option was a couple of apples and blackened bananas. Had a cup of tea on the first morning and we skipped breakfast on second day.

Used the Brandon Hotel as my base camp this weekend for the Kerry Camino as it’s very well situated in Tralee, with the car park opposite and the ease of access to all routes in and out of Tralee. The hotel is very comfortable and clean, all the staff encountered were friendly and professional.
Rooms are a decent size, bathrooms perfectly appropriate with all the essential amenities. Breakfast is buffet with Tea and coffee served at your table. I will definitely stay again on my next visit to Tralee.

A really nice place child friendly. Staff were all amazing apart from the bar manager he was rude and anti people! The bar man was lovely though made sure we were well looked after and so polite. The rooms were nice bur very hot as the windows didn't open far! The views weren't very nice but a good location for shopping. Only 2tea bags 2 cups etc… but there were 3 of us.

Stayed here recently for a stay in tralee.
Walking distance to town and GAA grounds is a major plus. The hotel was clean throughout each section.
Rooms was spacious though personally thought it to be too warm and the beds were comfortable.
Staff were all very friendly and professional and only to happy to help.
The only downside to the stay was that the swimming pool doesn't open until 10am on Sunday and considering breakfast finishes at 10am it meant only doing 1 or the other in the morning when I prefer to swim.

Review of the Hotel's Sports Complex.
I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team for their excellent service at the hotel's sports complex. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff is always friendly and attentive, making each visit enjoyable.
However, I would like to suggest conducting deep cleaning in the aqua zone more regularly.
Overall, the sports complex is a great place to relax and stay active, and with a bit more attention to cleanliness in certain areas, it could be even better. Thank you again for your hard work and dedication!

Very central, 10 minute stroll to town centre shops, pubs, cafes. Free, secure carpark. Staff were extremely friendly & obliging. Room was very hot at night but clean & had everything we needed. The 1 thing I would suggest is water, there was no bottle of water in the room which doesn't seem like a big deal but would have been very welcome during the night when I woke from the heat. Breakfast was good but wouldn't say the sausages, etc were hot, more like warm & the puddings were gone a bit hard. Food had been cooked with a while before being served I would say — and we were literally the first people at breakfast at 7.15am. Fruit, cereal & yogurts were fresh though.

I love the Brandon Hotel. Staff are always so nice and helpful. My mom and I had a lovely lunch for Daughters Day yesterday. The soup was lovely. The restaurant is lovely and warm. I added the Brandon hotel restaurant menu which is in the bar section called the blue door restaurant.

I stayed on business for two nights midweek. Check-in was easy and friendly. However, the covid shield was still in place over reception, which I found uncomfortable.
Meals in the bar were good, first night staff were friendly, helpful, and experienced but with different staff the following night I did not enjoy the experience as much. I was on my own as I was waiting to be seated. I was asked if I was a driver, tour guide, or guest? The different floor staff ware being shouted instructions from the bar manager about where to seat the guests, although the restaurant was busy I was brought to a pillar with a mirror on it with a small area for food and I told the wait staff that I would order a drink and sit at the bar while waiting for a table. While I was at the bar, I was not approached for service. I found my own table and requested a menu. Staff were very unhelpful due to their inexperience, unlike the staff the previous night. I found the room comfortable and quiet but a little dated and no sockets beside the bed to accommodate a medical device I use. I decided not to have breakfast on either mornings although it was included in my booking due to the bus loads of other guests congregating in the restaurant and reception area.
