Bellinter House Hotel & Spa

Extremely disappointing experience. We spent over €1, 000 on a one-night stay for a special occasion and were made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment we arrived.
A wedding reception was taking place, and it seemed that hotel guests came second. We were told we had to leave the bar at 2pm, despite our room not being ready until 4pm. When we asked where we were supposed to go in the meantime, nobody could give us an answer.
The most shocking moment came when a member of the wedding party asked a staff member when we would be leaving the bar. The staff member looked directly at us and replied, "Hopefully soon. " I have worked in hospitality for over 10 years and have never witnessed anything like it. To be treated as though we were less important than other guests was completely unacceptable.
I raised these concerns with reception during our stay, yet no meaningful attempt was made to rectify the situation at the time.
Following my complaint, the only resolution offered was 15% off a future stay. I had made it perfectly clear that, based on our experience, we would not be returning, making this offer of little to no value to us.
For the price paid, I expected far better service, professionalism and customer care.

Stayed at Bellinter House recently in a Boyne Valley Suite and genuinely cannot wait to return. Lunch in the Spa was delicious, the spa itself was beautiful with stunning views over the countryside. Our room was stunning and had a private decking with our own hot tub which was honestly the perfect way to end the day (and start it in the morning).
The whole stay really felt like a proper treat from start to finish.
Can’t praise the staff highly enough, warm and welcoming and clearly well trained.

Had a superb weekend in Bellinter House, escaping from it all with my husband and close friends, another couple. The trip from Dublin was so handy in less than an hour but on arrival you couldn't feel further from Dublin. The old country house experience is wonderful and it's so great to see how much of the original features have been preserved.
All the staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful and the team atmosphere is lovely.
We ate in the drawing room on Friday night and in Prestons on Saturday evening. Very well thought out menus and excellent quality food in both locations. And such beautiful surroundings that can't be replicated in any kind of modern buildings.
The spa is spread out around the grounds and the view from the outdoor heated pool is lovely. There are saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, plunge pools galore. The private pods are a great option with massage chairs, seaweed baths, saunas, fresh fruit snacks and prosecco. Kevin and his team in Bellinter have got the delicate balance between high quality and friendly service just right.
Many thanks to all for a lovely weekend — we didn't want to leave. Would highly recommend a trip for an escape to the country.

Myself and my wife took our young Labrador for her first trip away this week and I must say from start to finish the experience was amazing.
The room was great and the staff left bowls and a towel for our dog.
The food was great in both the restaurant and the bar and the Spa was amazing.
We were nervous taking our dog away but I must say the staff were amazing. Very friendly and very accommodating, she loved all the attention.
As you can see she made herself comfortable in the bar.
We will certainly be back.

I recently stayed and dined at Ballinter House in Meath and had a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely amazing, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of flavour. What really made the stay special, though, was the staff, they were completely out of this world: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I’d highly recommend it and would happily return.

My fifth visit to Bellinteer speaks on itself about how good this hotel is. Its everything a classic estate house can offer. Magnificent rooms, fireside drawing room. The staff are a great compliment to the house. A new spa area is a added extra. Visit number 6 won't be far away.

Very disappointed with the spa experience overall.
The massage itself was good and helped relieve tension in my back, although the pressure was lighter than the firm level I had requested. The therapist was professional, so that was a positive.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell well short of expectations. When I entered the men’s dressing room, there was a toolbox left on the floor and I stubbed my toe on it. A maintenance worker was present but there was no signage, no warning and no acknowledgement. It felt unsafe and uncomfortable having to change while work was happening.
The outdoor thermal area also appeared unfinished. There was visible rubble, plastic and building debris scattered around the landscaped area. More concerning, one of the wooden slats in the sauna was loose and nails were sticking out, which is a serious safety hazard. There were also no buckets or ladles available.
The dressing rooms were poorly maintained too. Both showers had no shower gel, the conditioner was empty and the shampoo bottle was sitting loose without a lid. It was clear the area hadn’t been properly checked or restocked.
Overall, while the massage was good, the condition of the facilities, safety issues and lack of attention to detail made this a very disappointing visit. I would have expected much higher standards.

My daughters booked me a night here as a birthday treat. We had our own pod in the spa area complete with hot tub, seaweed baths, massage chairs ans prosecco. It was so relaxing and great fun along with a gorgeous view. Our top floor room in the main house was charming and dinner in the restaurant was very nice with impeccable service. We had a really lovely night.
To top all that off, I got home to realise I had left my glasses there. On contacting the hotel, they found them promptly and put them in the post for me. A few days later they arrived safe and in perfect condition after been packaged perfectly. ☺️

Food and food service amazing! Rooms clean. Spa lovely, but heated pool felt cold but I think it may have been down to it being 0 degrees outside. All very clean and new.
Only small improvement that would’ve helped us was when we arrived it was dark and we were staying in the school house. We struggled to find it in the dark. Maybe a sign would be helpful. We went back to ask the guy at Reception for directions again and it seemed like we were a real inconvenience to him. We found it eventually. Thanks for a lovely time.

My two friends and I visited the Bellinter House Outdoor Spa over the weekend, and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Every detail is so thoughtfully considered. From the umbrellas and towel warmers to the bobbins and under-eye patches. The spa itself is spotless, peaceful, and beautifully maintained, which really adds to the experience.
The staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating, making us feel relaxed and welcome throughout our visit. A special mention to Kevin. You can genuinely tell he enjoys his job, and his positive energy really stood out. We left feeling completely refreshed and already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!

We had a quick overnight visit to Bellinter House but it was very enjoyable. Our room was very clean. In fact, the whole place was immaculate. Bar food was excellent. We could not fault the atmosphere either. We sat in front of a big log fire with a Christmas tree, soft lighting and Christmas tunes playing away. If there was an issue then it was that we were not aware that we had to prebook the Spa. It was unfortunately booked out so we did not get to use all the facilities so make sure it you are going to rebook. Unlikely we'll be back. This was a treat to ourselves and what a treat.

Went for afternoon tea and the experience was lovely, the room it takes place in has a lovely atmosphere and great views of the gardens, the afternoon tea itself was affordable and the food enjoyable. However the teapot was chipped, the service could have been better and the selection of tea was disappointing — especially for it being afternoon tea. Overall I do recommend the experience as it is affordable compared to many afternoon tea experiences. Bellinter house itself is lovely both inside and outside, there is life size chess to play outside and inside the atmosphere is cozy and luxurious, would definitely recommend a visit and would be eager to check out their spa offers the future.

Absolutely loved my get away from it all before Christmas and Bellinter was perfect. Wonderful, friendly and very helpful staff. The new thermal area was exactly what I needed to relax and the food at dinner was delicious. The attention to detail from the doggy welcome stand, robes, towels, flip flops, nespresso in the room, you name it, it was the perfect recharge.
I stayed in the 'Stables' with my old pug and explored the area which is so rich in our ancient heritage.
Fantastic place and genuinely dog friendly. It’s the kind of place that feels special whether you’re there to fully switch off or to share a quiet, romantic escape. Highly recommend and definitely will be back for both.

We recently stayed here to celebrate an anniversary and overall had a really lovely experience. The setting is absolutely fabulous, especially at Christmas — the hotel is beautifully decorated and has such a festive, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very friendly throughout our stay. We had dinner in Preston’s, which was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed.
We also tried the new outdoor spa trail, which was a real highlight. It’s been done so well and felt relaxing and special.
A few small details stopped the stay from being quite as exceptional as it could be. Our room wasn’t ready at 4pm and there were a number of guests waiting, which, while not a long delay, was a little inconvenient for a hotel of this standard.
Before dinner we hoped to enjoy a drink, but all tables were reserved, so there wasn’t anywhere to sit. For a hotel of this size, it would be nice to have a few more casual or cosy seating areas for guests just popping in for drinks.
There are also a handful of minor touches that could elevate the experience further — things like lighting candles, a bit more attention to staff presence in public areas, and updating some of the spa facilities (the hairdryers in particular).
Also a note to those booking the Bellinter Express, it is located on the main driveway coming in so you can hear every car going in an out as staff leave and arrive during the night — and the hot tub is not private.

I recently visited Bellinter House and had such a wonderful experience. I used the new thermal area, which is beautifully designed and felt like a true oasis of relaxation. The setting is peaceful, the atmosphere is soothing, and the location itself is stunning.
Everything was thoughtfully provided—towels, slippers, and the loveliest robes. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit even better. I also enjoyed a light lunch in the café beside the spa, which was a perfect addition to the day.
Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a personal treat, a couples’ escape, or a relaxing get-together with friends. Highly recommend!

We stayed at Bellinter House on Friday and Saturday and were genuinely blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome — not just us, but even our dog Sooty, who was treated like an honoured guest.
Every member of staff we met, from the front desk to the restaurant team to the management, went above and beyond to make our stay special. A particular thank you to Kevin, the General Manager, whose warmth and attentiveness set the tone for the whole property, and to Jill, who looked after us so thoughtfully at dinner.
The newly opened spa and infinity pool were a highlight — beautifully designed, relaxing, and genuinely exceptional. The estate itself is stunning; the grounds are peaceful and immaculate, and the house has so much character. The food throughout our stay was also absolutely delicious.
We left feeling rested, cared for, and already planning our next visit. Thank you to the entire Bellinter House team for such a memorable stay!

Myself and my husband recently stayed in Bellinter house, actually on the day that the new thermal area officially opened, and I can't fault anything about our stay.
From check in to check out the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were extremely friendly and extremely professional, nothing was too much bother.
We ate there on the Monday night and the food and service was fabulous, as was breakfast the next morning.
We used the thermal area for a few hours before heading home having been given a tour by the general manager, what a great hands on person to have on your team. The thermal area was amazing and we can't wait to return.
