Warm. And cosy. Friendly staff.

Arrived in after a gig at the Olympia. Friendly barman. Great sounds playing. Toilets could have done with some attention. In disarray. And a bottle of bleach wouldn't go astray. Strong smell of pi**. A scent diffuser on a timer would help. Just saying.

Beautiful place! As it was mid afternoon & they allowed us to Split an entree & even plated it separately at no extra charge.

I was at xmas party last night here and the service of the staff from the bar to the staff serving the food was amazing. Reall friendly staff the food was amzzing with plenty to go around. Would highly recommend going we all had great night. Great food great service.

We had wonderful time staying at the Mercantile. Suzette thoroughly enjoyed it also. Anita was fabulous at the front desk. You are blessed to have her. The Pub and breakfast was great. Eoghan & Paul were courteous and most helpful. Thank you, will return again.

Lovely atmosphere, good food and drink as well as good music! it’s the second time we’ve visited Dublin and have been to the Mercantile on a number of occasions and will definitely return.

Had an Irish dancing lesson and it was brilliant. Jen, the teacher, was amazing! Would highly recommend.

Previously hosted arsenal supporters club but on several occasions kicked out members of the club for smaller games if they were at a loss to show the game or had a more attractive offer of renting a venue. Staff friendly for the most part, but they have since been taken over and lost many people. Would not recommend going here — their standard prices are extortionate (club members had discount)

Very Rude staff. Had to ask twice for menu's any question we asked was just answered with a "Ya" with the staff walking off. Sat there for 20 minutes and no one came over. Place was pretty much empty. Walked out and I do NOT Recommend anyone to go anywhere near here.

Nice local, not crowded and without the smells of the kitchen. Great refueling of beer I'll be back.

Service was great, really friendly staff. Very clean and tidy rooms. A bit noisy at night but ear plugs provided by the hotel is a very handy thing to have. Right in the centre and not to far from anywhere you would want to go. Over all a fab stay and we would definetly come back.

Very disappointing. Waiting close to an hour And when meal finally arrived it was not what was advertised. I and my friend ordered lamb, 16 hours cooked! Was given tough undercooked lamb.

Really disappointed, stopped in this hotel cause it’s close to everything and have done many times but this weekends was unexpected… after 2 amazing nights I got to my 3rd the guy on reception was in no way polite when he answered the door, infact he sounded like he had a drink, once being let in I went to my room and then came back downstairs and the same guy was sat with headphones on, I went to go get some food and let “myself” out to then come back to have the door answered to me like I’m some sort of criminal by I think was a doorman “even with a room card in my hand” I was in total shock made to feel like I did something wrong in somewhere I paid to stay!

One of the worst bars I have ever been to. Firstly we were waiting over 20 minutes to be served at a counter that wasn’t very busy, the bar staff had more interest in having a conversation between themselves than serving customers. Secondly the quality of the drink served was atrocious, the bottled coke was flat along with a whiskey that was watered down to a point where you could drink it for breakfast. Lastly the price charged for what we got was ludicrous to pay so much for so little really put the last nail in the coffin. I would strongly recommend anybody thinking of coming to here to avoid it like the plague.

Yesterday me and the girls came into here and were firstly served by a lovely fella and everything was good my other friend also got food and that was great we decided to change from prosecco to cocktails as there was a promotion of 2 coctails for 12 we were served again by the first lovely barman. Onto the next round there was a new barman behind the bar in a different uniform to the others plain white tshirt he bearly as much said hello can I help you an just looked at me until I ordered I order 2 strawberry mojitos and handed him 20 euro he also never said please or thank you, I was standing with my friend when he handed me back my receipt and no change I asked him if the cocktails where actually not 12 euro not 20 he didnt even look at me shrugged his shoulders and goes is it?

Come here a few time for food during the day after a bit of shopping in the area. Food always good and not expensive. Very clean and tidy place and staff really friendly and helpful. Been here a few times in the evening for drinks. Gets very packed and load. Never end up staying the whole night here gets a bit out of control.

This hotel is in the very best location you can be in, everything you want to see is within a ten minute walk. The staff is super nice, check in was easy, and dinner spots are abundant. I would definitely stay here again.

Very nice food here. Good selection of beers. A little pricey, but usual for city center. Quick staff also. I would recommend this place for an afternoon bit of food, or a decent night out.

I went here for the final match of the 6 Nations, England Vs Ireland, held on St Patrick's Day. As an Englishman in the Irish capital you could imagine a level of tension and potentially hostility from the hordes of Irish fans; however, that was not seen at all in the Mercantile. The patrons were all welcoming and jovial and happy to have a laugh and a Guinness with me and my friend. I think this is testament to not only Dublin, but also the clientele that The Mercantile Hotel attracts. The grandeur the decor displays really let's you know you are in a decent establishment, and the well-presented staff are friendly and courteous even whilst facing the drunken hordes of one of the busiest days of the year. I will definitely visit again when I'm next in Dublin, and maybe even stay this time!

A good spot for meeting a friend near dame st. It's always buzzing but plenty of space for all. Love the interiors here as well, makes the place cosy!

We went to have drinks with a group called "Backpacker pub crawl" They have good drinks specials, the environment is nice. Darkroom with antique details.

Lovely hotel. Very central and very reasonable.
Have to give a special mention to the receptionist there called Nikki.
My daughter was very sick on our night away there recently and Nikki was so friendly, and attentive to us… she really did do everything to help us… even bringing me up extra milk and biscuits. And been very concerned about my daughter… Mercantile you've got a gem there… Thank you Nikki.

Arrived at 11pm after traveling a lot to have to get directions from the bar's bouncer to the hidden hotel entrance. Around the corner got to see police force ably arresting a drunkard not even ten feet from the entrance. You have to press a button to be let in the front door location — no card access even after being checked in. I'm sure this is for security purposes but wow. A supposed 3 star hotel that it seems realistically does needs it? I've only been in a few hostels and no hotels that use this system before. Two twin beds were horrible with a very noticeable dip in towards the middle — should have been replaced a long while ago… you can feel the springs. I expected some outside noise per the other reviews and when reception was semi quiet on the ground floor I was hopeful, but this room's windows are old and do not in fact close anywhere near fully thus letting in almost unfettered street noise that is still loud on the 3rd floor. While the location looks central, great online, and I expected a general bar vibe in the area it is so much more seedy at night around the hotel than I thought possible at a 3 star hotel. Seems that if you go 3-4 blocks away it is much better. I would not stay here again and will shortly be leaving 1 night into our 3 night stay to move to a different hotel. Would like to get the 3rd night refunded, but I am not very hopeful.

A great late bar to socialise with colleagues, and meet new people.

Came here for drinks at the bar downstairs, very large venue with nice decors. TVs were showing some very old boxing/wrestling matches which was a bit random. Shame that there wasn't any live music.

Love this place for lunch! Been a few times and doesn't disappoint. Chicken wings rock.

Great hotel, right in the Temple bar area, everything is pretty accessible downtown. The hotel and bar workers were very nice and attentive. The bar stays open later for hotel guests! Breakfast was basically anything you wanted off the menu, which was wonderful and a pretty good discount if you bought it with the room. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it! (I would bring earplugs because it is an older building and it can get loud on the streets, but that's not the hotels fault! )

Excellent 4-Star Hotel. Excellent value for money In the middle of Av. DAME and meters from Temple Bar. It also has an exceptional bar.

Very cozy, great food, pub is very big with great beverage selection. Rooms are clean and tidy.

Great central location. Rooms are clean and have everything you need for a short stay. Only downside is that it can get noisey in the early hours but this shouldn't put you off too much. The hotel also supplies earplugs.

Love the Mercantile. Was introduced to the bar upon my visit to Dublin, 6 years ago. Recently returned and enjoyed another nice night. Classy aesthetic, affordable drink prices and great atmosphere. Will return!

Had a full Irish breakfast here and it was lovely. The bacon while being a bit fatty was done perfectly with a slight crispness to it, white and black pudding adding all kinds of flavours to the breakfast.

Great buzz here in the evening. Pricey but worth it if you get the right seats. Lovely interior balcony seats. It was an old bank. " I think"

I can only comment on the pub and Q I stayed in the hotel. It's big, nice and lots of people. But the staff didn't seem very nice. Accustomed to how friendly Q are in Dublin here nor help you to look for a table or come close to attend you. Q You have to go to the bar to ask… and will not be XQ no staff…

Room was great, had everything we needed. Wifi worked well in rooms and in the pub. Door staff was helpful, and the restaurant and breakfast was great. It was very loud at night however! From 10pm-3am. But that is expected for the area, and the hotel even gave out ear plugs, although I did not need them to be able to sleep.

I was here last week. I found the staff friendly the drink good and the music fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Visited today for food with my other half and 2 kids must say the food was fab the chef made lovely pasta dish for my daughter whos quite fussy only likes pasta and sauce, it was so fresh and tasty she loved it. The burgers were the best I've ever tasted staff were so friendly will definitely be back to try more on the menu.

Cheap (for Dublin) and cheerful. Great location. Lovely view of a wall from our bedroom. Good bar downstairs.

Dear Mercantile. Let me introduce myself. I am the person who had their party booked with you for last night but you decided to cancel the party with little more than 24 hours notice. I don't know if you had double booked the venue and quite frankly I don't care. The manner in which you handled this was awful, put yourself in my shoes for a second and imagine the stress you caused. Thankfully we found another venue at such short notice and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. To anyone reading this, think very carefully about giving your custom to a business that clearly don't place any value on their customers. You have one less customer to worry about today anyway Mercantile, job very well done!

Can have great music. The food isn't that great though unfortunately. Good atmosphere in the pub!

Only visited for a drink with my girlfriend. Was a nice place, nice staff and very relaxing a atmosphere. We visited late afternoon on a Friday, however I'm sure it would get really busy and lively later on a Friday. Would go again!

Very particular and with ample place. You eat and drink in a characteristic Irish climate.

The mercantile is in the centre of Danes Street. It's a very lively pub. But the best part about this pub it leads you out it back door to a surprising ally way with lot of different pub. It's like little Temple Bar for the locals.

Super location directly opposite the entertainment area of Temple Bar, who wants cheaper food and drink but should rather be in the other direction. Directly behind the Hotel (facing the entrance that is slightly hidden by an alley distance) is a nice, authentic Pub with Live music (Stag's Head). The beds were comfortable and the room sufficiently large. Friendly and helpful staff. For the more expensive Dublin, in any case (especially because of the location) a good price-performance ratio! One may not expect luxury, the Windows were thin and the street in front of the Hotel is much traffic, the night was restless. The bathroom could have been a bit better cleaned, but it was fine.

Nice structure and full of people. Pity that the courtesy of the staff and bouncers this time did not live up to the Irish people.

I think the mercantile really should teach his bouncers how to — be polite and respectful (I'm almost sure a 22 yo girl, 50kg, sober and smiling, is not any danger to a big tall bouncer) — differentiate someone genuinely smiling who literally had ZERO alcohol from someone who is drunk… I think I don't need to "evacuate all the drinks and go for a walk and come back when I'm better" when I'm just coming out of a restaurant and only had water… It is quite concerning to see how someone can be that bad doing his job and if I only have water to evacuate, this bouncer surely has some anger and frustration too. So please, learn to be polite and respectful with people doing so with you, and try to develop a better sense of discernment. If you are not able to do that you should probably be worried about your mental health and change job. If you want to enjoy your night independently of the bouncer's good will, don't go to the mercantile…

Hotel: Convenient located in the heart of the Temple Bar District. Very nice room and was perfectly taken care of. Checking into the hotel was a breeze too. At 65€ it was one of the least expensive places to stay in this area. Restaurant: I had the supreme chicken, soup and a slice of chocolate cheese cake. All three courses were perfect. The wait staff was very attentive to customers needs and provided a great service. Overall it was a perfect stay here.

I state that I only had lunch at this restaurant/hotel. Good food, nice setting.

We visited here for breakfast at 10am and were shown to the very nice cafe next door, still part of the same business. I had scrambled eggs and everyone else had cooked breakfast. The staff were nice and very helpful. This is good quality food so not reccomended for those on a budget. Returned in the evening to watch the football and they had loads of screens. Odd to have an assistant in the loos with everything from make up to hand towels, not used to such refinery.

Hotel: Great location! However the room was extremely loud as the windows can't be fully closed and are very thin. The provided ear plugs hardly help. Bed rather hard and bathroom very old but still working. Could have been cleaner, especially the floor. Wi-Fi did not work most of the tine.

Didn't know it was actually a hotel until I read the reviews below. I rate it as four stars for the bar as it has good TVs which show football games and decent beer on tap. Good pub for those wanting to watch the EPL in Dublin city centre.

This should read "Huge noisy bar with small hotel attached for licensing reasons only". Only anyone who had never lived in Dublin would even dream of staying here. Bar is big, noisy, and very crowded.

Standard enough conditions for the price and area (Not the best, though certainly not the worst either). Room lighting rather dim. Great bar food available on-site.

Walked in and we were about to sit at a table for 2, there were 4 tables available, but had not been cleared, when we were Barked at don't sit, we have a queuing system in place, sorry we did not know. So we stood by the door like a couple of Lemons for 7 to 8 minutes, other tables were now empty, we did not see any queue, but there were 4 people waiting for a table half way up the restaurant. Finally we were asked if it was a table for 2, yes please, so a table was cleared… Same waitress who had barked at us came and took our order, Tea for 2 and we asked what scones they had, there were 3 different, so we asked for 1 of each, what you want 3 scones! Yes we can share them, can we have just cream with one, well cream is extra we were told, well we did not expect it would be free… Such a shame the way we were spoken at, The tea and scones were excellent and well priced.

Great hotel and bar. I was a bit nervous when they had earplugs in the room but the late night noise wasn't bad at all. Great location and great food downstairs as well.

Absolutely awful experience all around. The hotel staff was incredibly rude and seemed to have an attitude anytime we asked a question. We asked were the closet ATM was and the response we got was "Well they're everywhere. You can easily find one". Not exactly a helpful answer. And BE ADVISED, the hotel provides ear plugs as it is situated right next to three very loud bars and night clubs. Not exactly mentioned when booking a room costing over €250 a night. Our television was a partially broken Phillips from maybe the late 90's, certainly not a flat screen like advertised. Sleep was nearly impossible as we stayed over the weekend. Not to mention we were told we had a room with 3 twin beds which turned out to mean on double bed and a cot. The bathroom was spacious, but had no shower curtain and was covered in mold. If you are looking for a nice, or even just decent place to stay downtown DO NOT STAY HERE!

The hotel is ok. Its a bit old. But the food is good and people that work there are soo nice.

It's a mixed bag. On the plus side it's staffed by nice people and does a lot to support the local music scene. On the downside it's often so jammed that you can't get served, or move. Not a great place for a conversation on a Friday or Saturday night. Still, it's a nice place the rest of the week and not overpriced, considering the location.

Very nice. First bar we found open on the main street. Had a couple of pints nice and relaxed and friendly service.

We stopped in for breakfast while in Dublin and really enjoyed our meal. The service was really great, as was the food. It was a really cute little place to stop in.

We have been there for a night out and drinks. Bouncers were very rude and kicked us out without any reason. I would not recommend at all that place if you want to be treated nicely.

Let me just say. Breakfast was AMAZING at their connected little cafe and the breakfast staff was absolutely wonderful. . Everything else was crappy to put it nicely. I understand we were in Temple Bar district so there will be noise and lots of people with very little parking so those aren't considered in any part of this review. However, the reception staff was flat out rude. We checked in, asked where the best/nearest parking area was and were directed to one that was a bit of a walk when there was one (come to find out) so much closer and CHEAPER than the one we were directed too. When I asked for directions it was quite clear I was being obnoxious to ask her to circle it on the map. My mom then asked if there was a simple fan available and we apparently were being obnoxious once again as we were rudely replied to. Of course. The rooms were LOUD, VERY VERY LOUD. Until 6am loud. Certainly don't plan on sleeping a bit unless you don't return until then especially because the only way their beds would be considered comfortable would be if you were horribly wasted and without feeling. The rooms were absolutely tiny, barely room to walk much less place a bag and the bathroom was filled with broken tiles and shower. I understand the building is old, but it certainly wasn't what I would expect for their price point. The bar was packed mainly because the entire upstairs was reserved for one person or another both nights we stayed there.

Portions very bedsore and somewhat slow. The best, free Wi-Fi and a careful look.
