Positively, the food quality was excellent. And the staff were professional. But we were pretty disappointed by the high level of noise emanating from the function room both nights we stayed. No soundproofing. Staff offered to change our rooms, but (a) just want to sleep not shift at midnight and (b) we paid a premium for our seafront views. So my advice is to avoid these rooms, especially during weekends or other times with music/band functions taking place.

I attended a wedding here the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were beautiful and not to pricey for the location and each had a mini fridge which was great. The food at the wedding reception was outstanding, would definitely recommend this hotel.

A great classic hotel, too classic. The common areas very nice but the rooms a little obsolete.

Beautiful hotel with views of the harbour. Rooms are extremley clean and possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. We loved the cream teas in the morning and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff, and great food, we had a room with a beautiful view over the harbour. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the only downside was an event on, that kept me awake until the early hours of the morning, on one of the nights. I was not expecting this at all given the location.

A really lovely hotel with wonderful staff. Great views over the bay. Everyone in my business stays here and reports the same great experience I have had. We all go back to the Royal Marine for a reason. A special shout out to Rachel the Reservations Manager whose customer service is second to none. Recommended!

Came here for the Sansana spa experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. The therapists know what they’re doing and my stiff shoulder was noticeably better after! Will definitely be back regularly for the Voya Deep Tissue. Didn’t enjoy the dry flotation though, not to my taste but it was recommended so I went ahead, also the water in the hot pool irritated the skin on my face quite badly and I’m definitely not going to be using that facility again. So all in all, the massage itself, along with the relaxation beds and sauna/steam will keep me coming back.

Spent our last night in Ireland here. Had dinner on site. Tasty. Loved the location! Wish we could have spent more time. Nice rooms and service.

Unfortunately did the hotel not meet our expectations. The bed sheets were not changed and the staff weren't willing to change the bedding due to the late hours till eventually they did after the third call to reception. The hotel also needs a refurbishing and repaint. Location is good. We didn't eat there so we can't comment on the standard of food.

Fabulous mix of old world charm and modern facilities. Having stayed in the hotel in the past, and regularly attended events there, I can say the staff are friendly, polite and helpful, the food is excellent (I personally enjoy the pasta and fish dishes, but I know the Hardy Burger is extremely popular) and the hotel works hard to create a truly enjoyable atmosphere. The lobby is very comfortable, ideal for afternoon teas and the like, with an additional seating area near the coffee bar. The Bar & Restaurant area is spacious enough to allow one to enjoy a meal is peace and privacy. In terms of location, the hotel is 1 minutes' walk from the main street and all the local shops and amenities. Equally nearby, you have the Maritime Museum, the People's Park, plenty of scenic walks, the DART station for hassle-free travel into Dublin's City Centre or elsewhere. There's also a large Antiques & Vintage Fair hosted in hotel every two months (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec) and plenty to see and do in the local area.

Great place to stay! The hotel is very close to so many things, Friendly staff, free Wi-Fi and Hardy's Bar is connected right to it. What more can I say about this place. If your coming to Ireland I believe you'll be happy with it too.

Great hotel! Front reception staff have been wonderful, the room has been very large and comfortable. Beautiful hotel, would recommend and would stay again.

When I went to Ireland for 2 weeks we stayed in he royal marine in room 355, which is a special suite. When I was leaving Ireland we asked to stay in this room again as we were coming back for two more nights. Unfortunately we got a small room, with no space for our family. It had a great view and was fine, but the sleeping arrangements were not good for our family of 5. We called the service desk and they were very helpful, and moved us into our original room of 355 with no fuss. I really recommend this place as the breakfast was fantastic and there were parks and museums nearby to occupy the kids. The pool, although a little chilly was fine and nice for the kids to play in as well. There was a great pizza place close by that was great for dinner, and an excellent ice-cream place nearby for those all important desserts. I rate this place 5 stars! I love it!

Had been "placed" at the Hotel due to storm Emma. I Would like to thank esp all reception staff who Had been Most helpful and still friendly and welcoming, although they probably heard the same questions a thousand times. Probably would have enjoyed the stay under different circumstances. And the bed was exceptionally comfy.

Older hotel, but it has a great "Grand Budapest" feel to it. Great view of the ocean while having breakfast, staff was friendly and professional… maybe a little less so in the bar, but you've got plenty of options for that nearby.

A very classy, comfortable hotel to stay in. The staff was utmost friendly and always helpful, the rooms are beautiful, clean and well kept. The bed was amazing. The train is just around the corner so getting around is super easy, and there are shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants galore. A perfect place to stay.

Lovely hotel in a good location facing the harbour in Dun Laoghaire. Staff were very nice, except one barman who was just not happy in his work unfortunately, but all other staff were happy to help, polite and friendly. I found the hotel bar, Hardy's Bar, to be a lovely warm and cosy place to relax. There was live music in the evening then too which was good. Room was spacious and clean. My only criticism is the old fashioned hair dryer stuck to the wall in the bathroom. They should get rid of them and put proper hairdryers in to all the rooms. I called reception and they sent a hair dryer up to me quickly. Lobby area was very comfy, a really pleasant place to stay! Great access into Dublin city too with the dart trains.

Awesome location and great facilities. I've visited the Royal Marine for its spa which is great. Super friendly and helpful staff, the spa facilities are amazing and the hotel underground car park is excellent, with direct access to the hotel and spa, free if you're a guest or a customer of the spa.

This is an elegant hotel, it's a historic building with a great view of the harbor. There's several things to do within walking distance, the marine museum is close by as well as a huge library. It has a sauna, and hot tubs, 2 restaurants that serve delicious food and the staff here are amazing.

I would need to improve the service to match the price. In the rooms they only put a shower gel, nothing else; The spa is correct but nothing from the other world, they give a mini towel, no bathrobe or anything.

Very poor service in restaurants and old and neglected facilities. The card must be activated every you exit otherwise you will not be able to enter the room.

A four star hotel with a reasonable menu. Mid range prices. Service can vary a lot. It seems short staffed from its original staffing. Staff often fly by as if they are under pressure of multitasking. They are very pleasant when engaged. Functions seem to absorb staff from the various eating restaurant areas. I have never over nighted there… yet.

I've been there twice and both times got a full refund. First time, they gave a room key for our room to a very drunk wedding guest, whom we noticed when he was groping the party of the bed my wife was in, fun. We now always block the hotel doors of every place we stay, just in case. Second time, we went there to swim/relax and the hotel was apparently hosting a party, so there was music blasting the place from 8pm to 1.30 am, we had left before that time. It's an older building, and they are going for a old world feel. Sucks that they are too greedy/incompetent to run a good hotel, I'm sure we are outliers, but at least then understand how badly they can fail, and plan accordingly. To the people who ask why we went again to a place like this, we just didn't think that they could screw it up again. Safe to say that there will never be a third try from our end.

Lovely views over the bay. Pleasant meeting place or to have a lingering gin n tonic. Staff attentive. One of the grandest buildings in the area, harking back to more elegant days.

Lovely hotel close to the centre of the town. The DART station is only a 5 minute walk for easy access to Dublin city centre. I stayed for business reasons in Dublin it was the perfect location to base myself for ease of access to Dublin. Plenty of options within the premises for meals from a coffee and sandwich to full gourmet experience. The pool was very clean and was a perfect place to relax and wind away an hour or two. Rooms are well equipped and spacious, I was in the new part if the hotel and slept soundly for the night. Would stay again.

The food was lovely & the staff were really nice. However we weren't noticed when we wanted to order food & had to go to the bar to ask. The manager couldn't have been nicer when he realised & he was very friendly. In fairness they were quite busy as the antique fair was on.

The hotel has an amazing view. Walking distance to several nice pubs and great jetty walk out over the harbor. The room was nice and mostly clean. The shower area has mold issues around the ceiling and peeling paint but the stall basin and walls were clean. Mold probably due to lack of fan. Staff was very friendly.

Very comfortable hotel with some beautiful original features. We attended a fantastic wedding reception here. The staff are very helpful and the food is good, the only downside is the size of the place but that's just me — I prefer smaller, more intimate hotels.

I stayed at the SPA, it was really nice. Otherwise the hotel is also very beautiful from the outside.

Great location. A special thanks to Roy on reception. He went out of his way to help me out. Food in Hardy's bistro was delicious, although it was booked out we got a table quite beside the bar. So, some advice book ahead or prepare for a slightly noiser dinning experience. An enjoyable stay in a beautiful area.

Grand Hitel at 30 mn from Dublin to old-fashioned charm.

Convenient location with own parking. Food and beverage good. Room upgrading being done could be hurried up. Existing old style rooms still ok but.

Slightly dated rooms, and very little staff on check in Desk so took a little longer than expected even though there was only 1 person ahead in the queue. Rooms very comfortable and quiet, however doors slamming in the morning did wake me up. Bathroom smelling a little damp but it was clean. Would stay again.

We had a class reunion after 47 years in The Royal Marine Hotel A lovely venue to meet. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the meal was excellent. Thank you.

At Dun Loanghaire Ireland. Very nice and nice.

This rating is solely for the lounge area, not the hotel rooms. This is always a nice area. I love to meetup with people here as they have a cozy lounge where you can also enjoy food, coffee, or drink. And the sea view is always a perk.

We got a great deal for dinner and room on their website. Better than sites like orbits. Our first room there was an issue but the manager gave us a different room and treated us great. That's all you can ask for.

Wonderful hotel. Very grand indeed but guests are made to feel welcome by great staff. Lots of leisure activities offered to keep one relaxed. The spa and leisure centre are very good. Bedrooms are fine depending on how much you want to spend. Big spend means an ocean view large room. Low end rooms overlook the rear — as you would expect. Food was very good. Highly recommended can't wait to return sometime.

Its exactly like the pics! The place and services were great! I was actually there for an MUN conference so it was pretty crowded but the services were still excellent.

Great location and the hotel was cool and quaint at the same time. Great kitchen and staff as well.

Arrived on thursday 21st for four days. Very disappointed — a very very long delay checking in of about 2.5 hours no apology a complete lack of interest from the 4 receptionists behind the desk. This sullen attitude continued over the next four days. We asked if it was possible to upgrade no one seemed interested in this extra income for the hotel and when we did get a different room we had to lug our own cases!. The food was good and the waiting staff were superb but all this was spoiled by the reception we received. This was not our first time staying but will be our last — a pity.

My stay at the royal marine was lovely. There wasn't any disturbances or complaints. My only suggestion would be for them to work a way around the view in the standard rooms as the view wasnt the best. However everything else was great.

Great hotel, unfortunately the staff in their restaurant/bar — Hardy's — has to be the most sullen and obtuse group of people in Ireland. Avoid Hardy's at all costs. Terrible service! However, the hotel itself is clearly 4-5 star establishment.

An amazing hotel full of character and friendly staff, Phil the Bar Manager took time out of his busy day to write down restaurants and directions. The hotel is located just outside of the city, just a short trip on the DART Wonderful views of Dublin Bay, Dun Leary have some fantastic restaurants and bracing walks along the pier Would definitely visit again.

My favorite hotel when I am in Dublin.
Spacious rooms, a nice house and well located.
Convenient to go by train directly to Dublin in the Centre.
The shuttle bus from the Airport stops right in front of this hotel.

Checked in 31st January 2015. Room 635 On arrival we decided to have a light lunch/snack. Menu's were grubby and torn, food was just about warm. Because of this we skipped dinner and went elsewhere to eat. Room was o k, but was surprised to find there was no bath. There were two windows in the room but only three curtains which looked a bit odd. Bed was comfortable and room was very quiet and warm. There was no view what so ever. Corridors were very cold. Arrived down to breakfast to find buffet in area outside Hardy's bar. We were expecting breakfast to be served in the Dun Bistro restaurant. The plate heater was not working, when asked, a staff member did take two plates away and heat them for us. Food was just about warm but not edible. Bar was very cold as people were going in and out main door causing a gust of cold air each time the door opened. Tables were inches apart which made it very awkward when people tried to get into the seat beside you. You literally had to move your plate or their jacket would end up in your plate. Lighting was very bad which made it impossible to read a paper. Not what I would expect from a Four Star hotel.

The Royal Marine benefitted from a significant refit a couple of years back. This is not the drab and decrepit hotel I remember from my childhood growing up in Dun Laoghaire! I stayed there back in May of this year and was impressed by both the service and the quality of the room I had. Just a few minutes walk from the Dun Laoghaire pier and some lovely walks by the sea, it's also perfectly located for the local DART train station. Dublin city centre is just 20mins away by train. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to see more than the centre of Dublin. You'll appreciate the views out to the Irish Sea and should definitely consider heading further south to visit Dalkey and Killiney.

Stayed here many times. Wonderful staff, elegant rooms. Try Harry's, right across the street, for breakfast.

Gym was very high quality. . Almost 4 star. In some ways it's great but I think we were there for amateur hour. Very nice staff. But each meal or course had something wrong or forgotten. Decor is all wrong. Dark restaurant. No ambient music. Weird oblong shaped bedroom with extra unnecessary hall way. It was a nice clean hotel but nothing special. Nothing wow.
