We stayed here last Saturday night. What a fabulous little gem of a place. From start to finish we had an amazing stay. Everything was spotlessly clean, social distancing and ppe use correctly applied but without making us feel uncomfortable. The staff were fantastic… A special mention to Aoife and Chloe for giving us time and making us feel so welcome and for making our little boys 3rd birthday so special. The food was outstanding as were the cocktails we were so impressed we booked our next stay before we left.
Well done to all the staff and management on providing such a wonderful service in such difficult times.

Stayed last night with my husband. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lovely meal in the restaurant. Cream tea on arrival was delicious. Breakfast and late checkout topped it off. Lovely walk also around the grounds and plenty of room to social distance. Highly recommend.

Lovely Hotel. Ideal for families. Staff extremely friendly and food was fantastic. Lovely little fairy garden on the grounds which went down a treat with our little one. Highly recommend a visit!

The beer garden & the grounds behind the hotel are lovely.
Even with all the covid restrictions the hotel still retained a welcoming, relaxing, nice feel to the place.
I would definitely go back again.

Just been out to collect my dinner and it was fab as always, and the lovely gesture of the chocolate for my daughter for her birthday was beautiful she was delighted, looking forward to next week already xx.

Had our Christmas party there and everything was done do the highest standard and the food was excellent couldn’t recommend it enough well done to all the staff excellent service.

Extremely friendly staff while booking and during our stay. Room was fab warm and quiet. Food in the evening and Breakfast was 5 star will definitely be back soon.

Stayed for two nights. All Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and Evening Meal were very good. Shower was excellent. However, double bed was incredibly small. Our only issue during our stay.

Everything always runs Perfect any time we have a meeting room booked there. Excellent service. No complaints.

Highly recommended, couldn’t fault our stay at the weekend, the rooms were very comfortable, spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing, and the surrounding grounds beautifully kept. Will hopefully return for another stay.

Terrible sewage smell all down the corridor to my room! staff in breakfast room are very rude, I had 2 kids and a pram and was more or less being pushed out of the way by the Indian guy as I was “in the way”! Ended up leaving my breakfast there as I was made feel very uncomfortable!

Had an amazing time at the Woodford Dolmen! Was there for a wedding and the staff were all so pleasant! The rooms were nice and comfortable! Shower was gorgeous!

Two family wedding's and nephew's communion and couldn't fault one thing ⭐️amazing food friendly staff always willing and ready to help.

Had a lovely meal here this evening with my husband for his birthday, the food was gorgeous and the staff were very efficient and so nice.

Had our wedding here on Saturday and I cannot recommend it enough as a wedding venue! Staff are amazing, they done everything they could to help us have a stress free day… The food was amazing also, each and every guest has said to me about how good food was and how there was plenty of it. You made my wedding day run smoothly from the civil ceremony all the way to the the evening reception and I cannot thank you enough for it all… I will be highly recommending it to everyone.

I attended a wedding here on Good Friday so we decided to make a weekend of it and stay 3 nights. Everything was fantastic, lovely welcoming staff, amazing food and lovely room. I would recommend it to anyone.

We attended the Halloween Kids Party today and have to say it was a disgraceful example of a party. There were two bouncy castles for the hundreds of children who had to pre-register, one of which deflated at least 3 times before we left just after 2.30pm. Each time it deflated it was full of small children so was extremely dangerous. The kids then played Halloween Bingo and only 1 out of our group of 7 kids received a prize even though they all had winning bingo sheets. We left with a very disappointed group of kids and certainly will not be going to the next Halloween party!

Have to say absolute shambles of a Halloween Party today!
Sad state of affairs when your 3 year old wanted to leave. We attended last year and loved it but we will certainly not be attending again!

Superb spot for an afternoon tea and sandwiches. Service could not have been more pleasant. I asked them to give the four of us a variety of sandwiches and they brought out a wonderful arrangement that we shared. Tried to do the same thing at another hotel later and they failed miserably. Top marks to the Dolmen.

Excellent service and food staff very helpful and friendly. Only thing let it down never made the bed during visit. But we were in and out of it a lot and slept at odd times. And it never spoilt our enjoyment fresh towels were left outside along with tea and coffe.

Friendly, great parking as it's architecture l l lacks any finest. It's trying to be what it certainly is not. A bit of a builders vulgar mess. Otherwise, a reasonable three star in a great location.

In the last 2 years a lot of our family events have been held here. We are always made feel welcome and most of the staff are very nice. We have spent a lot of money there over the bar… it would be nice if some of the bar staff remember this when asking for a morning drink to cure a hangover. I little manners goes a long way.

Couple miles out of town, so likely eating here too… Food was pretty good fortunately, but mostly families with lots of little kids here making a racket because many large rooms. This hotel is for you if you are traveling with small children, otherwise you can likely find something better.

Was just here for a meeting, parking area & front of hotel was very clean the evening I arrived. Staff I dealt with were very nice & professional. I will try come back here for a stay & to try the food.

Had my wedding here last September Clair was just out standing my best friends lisa and rick got married here in april outstanding was the word and the food was second. Every person that works here could not be nicer if they tried. They deserve ten :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

It's a bit outdated, needs some money spent on it. The ceiling in the bathroom is peeling and mould building up. Food is generally good and free Wi-Fi.

Had my sons confirmation celebration there recently. What a fabulous place, from the General Manager to the waiting staff, we were looked after us superbly on the day. The food was terrific, I highly recommend this hotel for any occasion. Our Sincere thanks. Elaine and family.

Nice old hotel, friendly staff.

Hi we stayed here over the Easter weekend and we enjoyed our stay. The food was really good and the staff so friendly and on hand to help to anything. Colin the manager was great, he escorted us directly to the Derek Ryan function which was packed. But we really enjoyed it. I will say though the room we stayed in was very warm on the first night, the bed very noisy, way too small and the bathroom very much outdated and extremely noisy-the toilet made very loud noises.
But over all we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the food and service highly. Thanks M, I & A.

Absolutely wonderful. Tremendous parking facilities and beautiful grounds, with walks and river views. Inside, the hotel is the perfect balance of cosy and luxurious, at once spacious and full of warmth. The seating arrangement in the lobby is ideal for small, semi-formal meetings as tables are a good size and not placed too close together. We had the carvery and found the food absolutely delicious (including the much sought-after Yorkshire puddings missing from most carvery menus! ). The staff are genuinely some of the most friendly, warm and likeable I have ever encountered and on that basis alone, I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. In terms of location, I personally find it ideal to be so close to the town (6 minutes' drive along one road) while still having the grounds to explore and feeling as though you're in the countryside. The campus of Carlow IT is also very close by (just 2-3 minutes away) and the majority of local attractions are within easy reach. Kilkenny city is also just 20-25 minutes away. 5/5 food 5/5 location 5/5 staff 5/5 atmosphere.

We had a great weekend at the Emerald Open ballroom and Latin. Staff are the best. Well done to Nicole and all who organize this event regularly. Looking forward to next year.

My husband and I had our wedding here last year we were back last night for anniversary stay dinner bed and breakfast. Our wedding day was amazing staff were so helpful done the function room exactly how I wanted it pulled out all the stops and even last night when we were back for our 1st anniversary we were made feel so welcome and colin was helpful and lovely stopped to have a chat and congradulate us love all the staff here so friendly and helpful rooms are comfy and warm highly reccomend.

Really lovely hotel, very comfortable and extremely clean, staff are all so friendly. Food was good. The bedroom was cosy and clean, the only downside was it became very hot during the night. Probably an easy way to turn down the heat but I wasn't sure! Other than that it's a fabulous place :)

Stopped off here for carvery. Food very good. Staff excellent, professional, helpful and well able to deal with a busy lunchtime. Looks like a nice place to stay as well. Will definitely visit here again.

I attended a wedding here in August 2017 and the experience was amazing. The staff were extremely professional and friendly making all of the guests feel welcomed and special. The room for the civil ceremony was beautifully decorated and straight across from the Honeymoon suite meaning the bride had a very short trip. Food was excellent and plentiful, served in a relaxed way. The function room was lovely, decorated well and leading onto a very large balcony overlooking the grounds and river to the back of the hotel. On the day it was raining which was a pity as the grounds offer plenty of fantastic photo opportunities. But the Hotel entrance and foyer with its spectacular staircase still allowed for many photos to be taken. I would highly recommend this hotel for a wedding or indeed any other function. Hotel bar is also very nice with excellent food on offer. Bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable although some where a little far away but that was only a minor issue.

Great hotel to stay at — hallways are a bit of a rabbit warren — good experience overall and nice breakfasts at reasonable prices — easy parking except when they have a function on.

The current management of this hotel is excellent. The Sunday carvery is well worth trying. The grounds are lovely also. I found the staff courteous and friendly.

Had the brothers wedding here on Saturday place is absolutely amazing friendly professional staff and the chief really knows his stuff food was out of this world will definitely be back for a visit and I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone getting married you'll regret not having your wedding here so thanks to Claire for here amazing job organising the wedding everything was perfect and to your friendly staff and to the great chief you have everyone loved the meal the only downfall was that we were only there for three days would have loved to stay there longer we enjoyed it that much Again thanks to all the staff involved

Great place but dinner on last evening was disaster. Husband soup v cold no roll or spoon had 2 ask his steak 2 over done my spuds cold send bk long delay on baby dinner. Staff friendly clean great 4 carlow centre close by.

I was here for a family wedding it was fantastic the table layout and the stylish way it was percent was fabulous the staff were brilliant the food was gorgeous along with a great house dj it was a great night and we booked a room it was very reasonable in price including breakfast the room was lively aswell as spotless the Woodford gets my top marks.

Friendly, professional, clean, beautiful surroundings, great food, relaxed atmosphere, child friendly especially Sunday afternoons… bouncy castle and face painting… all in all good value… we are return customers time and time again!

Great place very quiet. River that goes to the bottom of the field. Only downside: The evening meal is too important.

I personally love this hotel. It's not too close to the town center and it surrounded in greenery. Lovely to go for a walk after a nice meal. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The decor is not extremely modern but I prefer it not to be and it has a sense of luxury instead.

Love the plum tree bistro, food amazing and good value, had a graduation dinner there, will definitely go back over Christmas.

Old style charm. The food isn't fancy but still is very nice. There are plenty of parking and the family room was very clean and well organised and it overlooked a nice courtyard. The staff were very friendly.

Clean room by the river and close to downtown Carlow, what elsw do you need in a hotel. Oh and it's reasonably priced and the bar is orderly.

A superior boutique hotel. We stayed in a luxurious suite and enjoyed several meals in the cosy restaurant. Great fishing in the river which runs along the landscaped grounds. Will be back!

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely front desk staff Mary & Clodagh. Lovely evening meal in the Restaurant. We definitely will be returning sometime soon. Hotel staff greet you with a lovely warm welcome & this is recipitated throughout our stay. It is a very well kept & clean Hotel.

What a delightful place to stay clean warm wonderful front desk staff and can't say enough about how good the dining roon staff were and the food was excellent we hope to come back soon.

Disappointing. We were there in April, had lovely meal. We spent two night's over August w end. Long wait for our food, which, turned out not to be worth the wait. We were told the kitchen was busy, but the restaurant was fairly empty. Breakfast poor, no fresh fruit, staff not very helpful.

First visit, nice staff good food and good shower well worth our visit thanks to all at woodford dolmen hotel, we will be back.

Just back from a lovely mid week break in the Dolmen Hotel. The staff at reception and in the dining room are the hotel's best asset. I thought each and every one of them were well trained. It is a very comfortable and friendly hotel. Well done to all the staff.

It's a lovely place I really like it but it could do with being modernised.
