Fabulous place to eat and the staff are so friendly and polite also the place has been recently renovated and you can tell hard work and money has been put into the place well done you have made a fantastic job.

Basic hotel obviously very old but they are doing superficial upgrades maybe they will get around to the rooms also as they are very dated (especially the en-suites). Staff are very relaxed at times a bit too much so but friendly and obliging. Food is good but limited menu and a little over priced for some items. Breakfast is half self service (ceral, juice, toast) and half table service (tea/coffee, eggs, cooked breakfast) and I must say how nice it is to have breakfast served to you rather than drudging through a buffet line. There isn't anywhere in the town to compete with the Gateway so it is lucky in this respect but perhaps this also holds it back from pushing to be the best it could be. This is a nice place with a nice atmosophere and with a bit more attention to the finer details it could be really excellent! For a budget no frills overnight stay in rural Mayo this is certainly a contender.

Restaurant only … Food was excellent. Would go back again. Try the wings if they have them. Very very good.

My sister and I dropped in, 12th April 2018, for a light lunch. About 10min to be served with no other diners present, very poor food delivered by a girl for whom our presence was an annoying interruption to something much more important & a manager type who suddenly became visible just for the bill. Probably a 1 star but feeling generous.

This is ok and the food was ok. We had the carvery. The tables were not cleaned and we were led to a room that was very poorly laid out. We went back to the main bar to eat. Just a little disappointed in this place.

Very accommodating fitting in a party of 9 at short notice and providing very good food. Would recommend it whole heartedly.

V busy when I went in but staff still had time for a friendly word and a smile. Food is lovely meat was just right not undercooked and the amount is great value for the price.

Great food value for money and so easy to park nearby and great when I travel home from the airport.

Food was lovely, service extremely slow even though it was very quiet, staff let place down as they keep away from tables & avoid eye contact incase they're asked to do something.

Myself and my sister in law stayed in the gateway hotel for 2 nights last week. I will certainly be recommending this hotel to everyone. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The accomadation was of good size clean and comfortable. And the food was exceptional from breakfast with lovely home made brown bread to dinners that were so tasty and very reasonable prices. I was very impressed.

It's a convenient place to stay right in the middle of town. The room was nice and comfortable. Some of the staffs are very nice and helpful. The full breakfast was not good at all the bacon, black n white pudding were tough n sausage boiled.

Fresh decor. I liked the complimentary juices left out for kids during Sunday lunch.

The staff were so kind to us today. Our flight was unfortunately cancelled from knock and they were so accommodating and permitted us to keep our suitcases behind the reception desk and to stay in their lounge area until we were due to catch our coach at 1.30am. They also offered us tea and coffee. So kind of them, we shall never forget that. Thank you so much X.

Had my sons christening here for 30 people and 10 kids and the newly decorated Front bar is perfect for such a function. The staff where very helpful and the food excellent and great value. I would highly recommend it.

Rooms are quiet spacious, breakfast was average.

I and there was Bed Bugs but I Ated them and they wur good thanks fur do free meal! I LIED! TROLLLLLLLLLLL!

I stayed at the Gateway Hotel with my parents whilst visiting the area to research our family history. The hotel staff were the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered, with personal touches like remembering how we had our drinks and always asking what we had been up to during the day, offering tips on what we could do, or just having a laugh and joke. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and very comfortable, with tea and coffee-making facilities provided. The beds were comforatble and the shower was wonderfully hot, with a generous number of toiletries and towels provided. Breakfast was excellent and substantial enough to set you up for the whole day. The hotel is well situated, not far from Knock airport and just off the road leading to Castlebar and Westport and in the small but charming town of Swinford. We never had a problem with parking, always getting a space right outside the hotel. The hotel bar and restaurant serves great food with *very* generous portions and has a great feel. It is clear that the hotel is an important focal point for the local community based on the number of community activities that take place there. This gives the hotel a really warm, local and thriving feeling, rather than the sterile feeling many hotels have. All in all, the hotel helped make our stay in County Mayo one to remember and I really couldn't recommend Cathal, his hotel and his staff highly enough.

A lovely Surprise in Swinford! — We stayed here for a night away recently and will definitely go back. It is a lovely family run hotel with great service, value for money and free Wifi which is always a plus! The food was particularly lovely with a fab Irish breakfast with homemade brown bread. Yum.

Lovely hotel to stay in Swinford Co. Mayo. Rooms are well presented and quiet. Stayed for one night and would recommend the hotel to anyone. The hotel is close to the airport in a lovely part of the world.

Last Friday we decided to have dinner at the Gateway Hotel. They had just launched a Steak Night and I have to say the food was exceptional. We also got a complimentary glass of wine with our dinner which was a nice touch and the service was very good. Thank you to the Gateway for a great evening.

We recently celebrated a family event at the Gateway. The food was amazing and our relations who stayed in the Gateway hotel were delighted with the service and friendliness of the staff, they felt it was great value and they would definitely stay there again.

Just back from an overnight stay at the gateway hotel mayo must say the staff in this hotel are absolutely fantastic cater for all your needs so friendly an polite the hotel itself has it all. I would reccomend the hotel to any one and every one would deff go back.
