Great place to stay when climbing the reek.

This was the best accommodation we stayed in for a long time. It’s run by Martin and Mary Coffey and their kids. You notice that family run difference the minute you arrive the Coffeys know how to do céad míle fáilte. The place is spotless, warm, new and very well designed. The views are breathtaking of sunsets out the front window and Croagh Patrick out the back. This is no ordinary hostel you feel like you are in somebody’s home as you are constantly asked from breakfast time to nightmare are you ok for anything or just a chat about tourist things to do. My kids loved it especially due to covid we had an 8 bed en-suite dorm to ourselves.
There is 2 top notch pubs within 2 min walk for excellent food. A shop is 5 mins away for essentials. Westport is 5/10 mins by car and the reason to come here the beach and Croagh Patrick you can walk to straight to from the hostel.
We will be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fantastic starting point for your trip to this beautiful part of Ireland. A very warm friendly Irish welcome awaits you from Mary and her wonderful family, staff and Gio the dog! Can't wait to return to explore the islands in the bay and do some more walking up the great Croagh Patrick again for classic views.

Just returned from an overnight stay in one of the cottages at Croagh Patrick Hostel and we can’t thank Mary and family enough for their hospitality. Accommodation was perfect and the breakfast set us up perfectly for the day ahead.

I cannot recommend this hostel enough. We booked a hen party here for 30 girls and it was such a good decision. Mary was so helpful & kind and nothing was an issue. The hostel is spotless & spacious. The lounge is such a bonus too because we could gather there before heading into Westport. I would 100% recommend. Keep up the good work Mary.

It is the best hostel I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at plenty in the past ten years! The hostel is only two years old and it is evident no expense was spared in making a modern, cheerful facility. There are also nice touches with paintings, prints, plaques and other decorations that make it feel far more "homey" than other hostels. The host Mary is fantastic and very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I just returned from a stay there in late September 2019. The room was warm, the beds and pillows comfortable, and there was an abundance of hot water for the shower — we never ran out. The continental breakfast was great and there was plenty of space to store our own food in the modern, well equipped kitchen. I noticed a few comments about the brown water. We went into a nearby tavern for lunch and the water we were served to drink was also light brown. When we were hiking around Mount Patrick we noticed the water running down the mountain was brown. My guess would be it is due to the iron content. My daughter and I drank it and washed in it with no problem. Also, one other person said something about the water in the showers being too hot — the first time I have seen that comment about a hostel. I had to play around with it a little but discovered that if your turn the control on the right side far enough away from you then you can make the water less hot.

We loved staying at Croagh Patrick Hostel, the rooms were very clean and spaciou and the facilities were fantastic! Mary was amazing, she really made us feel so welcome. The kids loved staying here and they called it their second home. It is a lovely Hostel in a stunning location and I highly recommend staying here when visiting the area.

Stayed here on Saturday night to climb Croagh Patrick the Sunday and loved it! Mary is fabulous, so friendly, welcoming, and homely. Comfortable bed great breakfast and a smashing way to meet new people. Highly recommend this hostel and I will definitely be back. Top marks Mary your such a lady, thank you!

Fabulous place to stay. The owner, Mary is so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.

I’d been staying in this place since it opened 2015… neat and well kept. The duvets, pillows and bunk bed are in good conditions. I feel at home every time I stay here during Sunday or even not. The kitchen is big, neat and complete. The whole place including the toilets are clean. In short, it is well kept and well maintained… Above all, the host Mary and her children are so nice. Very down to earth, accommodating and would offer help such as lift etc… I would consider this place always as long as I am able and capable to climb Croagh Patrick… Thank you Mary for our wonderful stay always. I had a great time there. The hostel is spacious and the landscapes around it are mesmerizing.

Amazing stay at a lovely, clean hostel with a good breakfast and comfy beds. Run by the kindest people in the world, and the locals at the nearby pubs are just as warm and welcoming! Just steps away from the base of Croagh Patrick and the Murrisk Abbey ruins on Clew Bay. I would definitely recommend this place! Thank you Mary so much for your amazing hospitality!

This was my first vist but I will be back to stay here again. Rooms very clean and staff very friendly. Breakfest very good.

Hostels have really come a long way! I stayed here for 3 nights in August 2018. It is warm, clean and spacious with lots of hot water. Cooking and eating area is very bright and modern and lounge is very comfortable. It is right on the door step of Croagh Patrick and close to Murrisk pier.

I recently booked into this hostel my stay was very comfortable staff very friendly and perfect location beside mountain s local pubs and the ocean.

We are looking forward to our return trip to a little piece of paradise. The Irish welcome from Mary and her family and their amazing hospitality makes the trip worthwhile. “Sure their hearts are like their mountains in Murrisk.

Situated around 200m away from the Coragh Patrick trail and visitor center, this hostel is incredibly central to nature escapes and extraordinary scenery; you only need to go out to the backyard to see the magnificent view of Croagh Patrick, how central is that? Also situated between an exceptional restaurant, the Tavern (~300m away), and a pub, Campbells (~200m away), you're a walk away from excellent food and drink when you are tired from your climb up Croagh Patrick. However, the one thing that stood out the most was the service and accommodation: the hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, and were very accommodating to my needs when I landed in tough situations. They went above and beyond in service and that speaks a lot to how they treat their guests. The bunk beds were great with ensuite bathrooms and walk in showers, and there is plenty of sunshine through the windows that fill up the room with warm light. I may have stayed during the quiet days but I had the room (fits 8 bunkbeds) all to myself! Exceptional. Finally, the kitchen facilities were well equipped and easy to use; there is a dishwasher in the kitchen and tea and coffee available all day. There are several tables in the dining area and one large communal table that can seat 12. It seems like this hostel can accommodate quite large groups! Overall, it was a very memorable and positive experience. I am definitely returning even if I might not climb Coragh Patrick again (challenging hike ahead! )

Booked a cottage for the weekend very reasonable very clean and tidy would definitely recommend a stay there 5 minutes walk for croagh Patrick and ten minutes drive from Westport.

Mary you are a wee star and want to take this opportunity to thank you dearly for your kindness not only did You make us feel absolutely at ease and welcome, but you offered us tea and coffee when we arrived! And I love my tea lol So grateful for the stick that u give us to climb Croagh Patrick. I seriously think I wouldn’t have made it to the top without it.
Mary also went out of her way to help us the next day as our car’s batter…y decided to go flat, we really did appreciate you driving us to the garage not that we needed to ask, u offered straight away and that just shows how kind you truly are) just to let you know we got home in the end up haha
So overall the Croagh Patrick hostel is a very clean homely place, the staff and owners are amazing the wee dog Gio is awesome, I would actually give it a 10 star if I could! And would recommended to anyone who was thinking of climbing croagh Patrick Want to wish you’s all the best for the future.

My partner Adrian and I stayed at this wonderful and clean hostel for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. The owner Mary greeted us with a lovely smile and made us feel most welcome. Would highly recommend the hostel and beautiful surrounding area to anyone staying in the west of Ireland.

Stayed here recently with a group of friends and had a fantastic time. The accommodation itself is excellent, comfortable and clean. The service was outstanding, friendly and helpful every step of the way helping us with taxis etc… Would highly recommend a stay here.

Stayed at Croagh Patrick Hostel last night with a large group of teenagers and this place is amazing! The staff and owners were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The hostel and cottages are fantastic and set a very high standard for a very reasonable price. The bedrooms and communal areas are spotless, modern and very comfortable and I will definitely be back in the not to distant future. A well deserved 10/10 Ger.

Beautiful area to stay … lovely hostile to say in, great location and the cottages are super. Also Mary is a wonderful hostess and will do all she can for you to make your stay more pleasurable. She holds a lot of knowledge about the area.

Purpose built modern hostel right beside the the base of the mountain with great showers, rooms, kitchen facilities and a drying room.

We used your hostel as a base and all the reports have highly-praised your facility and staff and that's coming from a young group of lads who are well-travelled. My husband and I stayed here for three nights over the St. Patrick's weekend. We were so impressed with the comfort, facilities and location of this hostel. We travel a lot and have stayed in hostels across the globe and we both agreed that this was by far the best we have ever stayed in. The hostel itself is new with modern fresh decor, spacious TV room with stove, fully equipped kitchen and warm cosy yet spacious bedrooms. A fabulous breakfast is provided every morning with a great variety of juices, cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt and breads. This offers a great start to a day of activities. The owners are extremely hospitable and were very informative. They gave us great tips and recommendations about the best activities, cycling routes, restaurants and bars in the area. This hostel is perfect for couples, families or large groups. It is right at the foot of Croagh Patrick. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Really friendly staff, went above and beyond to accommodate our every need. Right at the base of croagh Patrick, it's a very clean, modern place. Really impressed with it. Only other feedback would possibly get a second signpost on the road maybe 100m away as the entrance kind of creeps up on you and can be easy to drive past.

Love this place. Exactly what I expect from a hostel. Mary and her husband do an awesome job here. But important: you are not in Westport it's a bit away, but hitchhiking or bus are no problem. This also is no party hostel. Its a place to relax and enjoy yourself and the beauty of Ireland. Thanks!

Stayed in many a hostel around the world and am yet to stay in a better one than this. The family running it are fantastic, it is furnished beautifully and it is at the foot of Croagh Patrick. Would loved to have stayed a few nights longer.
