Sofia Hotel

Rooms are alright but you can't control the AC at all. Room cleaning consisted of something we don't really know, as they didn't vacuum or replenish anything. Breakfast is mediocre and they put the cookies in a cupboard in the breakfast area for the day after. Disgusting.
The staff at the desk is very friendly, especially the young man working the night shifts. The big man who's super intense and presumably the boss is however not good.
I've checked if we could pay by card beforehand, no issue. When we paid we were charged 30.000IQD on top of the already expensive room (100k a night) for a 'card fee'. When asked to explain he couldn't and when we asked for an itemized bill he tried scribbling something with a pencil. This has not happened to us at any other place in Iraq and felt really off.
When we went to leave the lady charged us 2000 dinar for 'a water’. Why this wasn't on our earlier bill, or to be fair, free, is a mystery to me. All in all, at this price point I'm sure there's better places in Duhok. The experience as a whole felt a bit strange. The night shift guy deserves a raise and a better boss.

The rooms and lobby are very comfortable and the location is fine, just outside the city center.
Beware: if you want to pay by MasterCard, they change you 5000 dinars extra for every 100.000 dinars you owe. They will not tell you this beforehand. They claim it's transaction fees.
They also charged us for drinking water from the room fridge. There was no water in the fridge. Only on the desk, and they told us it was free.
Also, house keeping does not clean the room during your stay. They only straighten your sheets.
I would recommend this hotel for the room. Not for the service.

Well hotel was decent.
Though I asked for water and they gave me water, but they charged me saying that glass water was not free.
Well you should have told me the options.
They told me they have special membership for their guests with 3 restaurants and I'll get discount if they order for me.
The Price of food on Talebat app was 14000, they were selling to me 25000 for the same restaurant. Dude it's so cheap, deceiving people. And owner of restaurant was doing it.
The reception gentleman was very nice though.

During my stay at the hotel, I was impressed by the warm welcome and smooth check-in process. The room was spotless, stylish, spacious and equipped with all the essentials for a comfortable visit. In the morning, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist. The hotel's central location made it easy to explore nearby attractions. Overall, the experience was relaxing, enjoyable, and exceeded my expectations in every way.

This is my second stay here in a row. I choose Sofia Hotel spontaneously. I was lucky though. Cousy, silent, well clean, price is good shortly best option in Duhok city. It’s in the center of almost every PoI, Malls, clubs and so on. I have to mention Mr. Salar who is very helpful, communicative and for sure hospitable person. I believe he is a good value for this place. Sofia hotel is my sole address in Duhok.

I stayed in many hotels in Kurdistan definitely Sofia Hotel is one of the best hotels in dohuk and even in all of Kurdistan region. Staff are very kind and nice, rooms are super clean, breakfast is wonderful. Best of the best.

This is a relatively new hotel. The rooms are bright, large and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Prices are reasonable with that quality. There is a restaurant on the 7th floor serving free breakfast, and it has a nice view of the city. The check out process is slow and need to improved.

It was an excellent hotel The best hotel you will find in duhok if you are ever visiting kurdistan you must go to duhok and visit this hotel it has everything you need from a gym to a sauna and this hotel will even do your laundry from a couple cents to very few dollars I highly recommend this hotel👏🏻
