Mocean Beach Resort

Absolutely amazing. Felt immediately like home.
Lovely specious rooms with eye for detail. A big pool area right on the beach with one of the most consistent surf breaks right in front of the hotel. Food is great. Matt, the owner, is on top of things.

We stumbled upon this place as it was one of the few restaurants near our hotel, and we’re so glad we did! The food was excellent—we came here for breakfast often and ended up eating here almost daily during our 7-day stay. The ingredients were high-quality, the staff was friendly, and the oceanfront setting was stunning. We’d love to come back and stay at the resort someday & do some diving!
The owner, Matt, is incredibly present and welcoming. It was great meeting him—he was so helpful and gave us amazing recommendations for places to visit in West Sumbawa. He’s genuinely a kind and friendly person, and we really appreciated our conversations with him. We were bummed we didn’t get to say goodbye, but we’ll definitely be back!
Highly recommend both the restaurant and the resort. The property looks well worth the price, and the food—especially the smoothie bowls, coffee, and burgers—delicious!

Have had a diving trip in West Sumbawa this month. The owner is super passionate in diving then we got the opportunity to do exploration dives around West Sumbawa where no other divers ever been there. The highlight divesites Mantahari was amazing especially at night. The food option was awesome from breakfast until dinner. The vibes of the resort and the room are also cuper cozy and comfy with the birds chirping sounds. Remote and less people that we love it very much. The team is also very helpful and friendly in every need.

Mocean is a unique place!
We experienced the best quality in all areas when we stayed in Sumbawa and different hotels in the Kertasari area.
Mat and his team are awesome. They are so attentive, friendly and eager to offer grrat service. Mat did everything to make us happy.
Last year we found the freshly opened mocean and stayed instead of 2 days nearly a week. This year we came back for 24 days!
I loved the quiet rooms which are so well equipped: a water cooker, a fridge, a chair and desk, darkening curtains, a safe, an aircon, a ventilator. And my women's heart was so happy with the large closet with hangers and shelfs and even an iron and ironing board. All my dresses and blouses could hang here.
The queensized bed is sooooo good: comfortable (even for me with my sensitive back and hip problems) and big — also for tall people.
The blanket or sheet too is long enough to cover the whole body. (It's so annoying when you are tall and the feet don't fit under the blanket)
My ladies heart was so happy with the bathroom: very spacious, many fluffy and fresh towels, a rainshower and normal shower with great water pressure and warm water as much as you want l, a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soap and lots of light.
Housekeeping was perfect: clean, daily and folding clothes.
My husband and I enjoy going to good restaurants and were so happy with moceans choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks.

Amazing experience!
We stayed at the Mocean Resort in July 2024 and it was the best decision we made. The Resort is by far the best hotel we’ve been to on our journey throughout Indonesia.
Everything was exceptional! The rooms are very comfortable and offer huge bathrooms. We were greeted with a barista coffee every morning and the food was super delicious. We got help with every special request we had and were surprised with the best birthday cake we can imagine during a hotel stay. Thanks again Matt and your team for the awesome job you do every day!
Being in walking distance to an uncrowded breathtaking beach, felt like paradise to us. But also the reef directly in front of the resort offers awesome snorkeling with untouched coral gardens. We were surprised with a tour through the local village, the coconut and seaweed plantations. Furthermore we were glad to enjoy a spectacular dive with Julie, the dive instructor.
During our stay it felt like being part of the “Mocean Family”. We are very thankful for the time we could spend there and will be glad to come back one day!

Spent a memorable few days at Mocean Dive Resort. Such a warm welcome from Matt. Right on the beach. A relaxing atmosphere. Staff were great. For those that like diving, it’s was exceptional. Well organised. Julie the dive instructor was excellent. Professional and a very good guide. A perfect week away on a beautiful island.

Love this place! The location, views, and grounds are fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need, including a hair dryer, iron, and even ironing board 🥹
The bathroom is luxurious, with a shower that has good water pressure and clean, drinkable water.
I especially want to highlight the restaurant — the breakfasts are excellent, great coffee and the best french toast I've ever had. It's amazing how they maintain such a high level of service and delicious food in such a remote location. Everything is just perfect here!

Everything is 5 star at Mocean, the staff felt like family after a day and the food is some of the best I've ever had! Make sure you try the wedges!
A deer came into the grounds whilst having breakfast, so magical!
I don't want to share too much and spoil it, but after 3 years living in Indonesia, nothing comes close to the secluded and private bay of Mocean.
I'm trying not to give everything away, but you can't go wrong choosing Mocean.

I highly recommend Mocean Resort!
The setting is very remote, which may not seem like a big deal on an island that is remote to begin with, but compared to other accommodations in the area, this one is a very private setting along the beach where nobody else is with at least three good surf breaks within paddling distance.
I stayed in a private villa, which was very roomy and comfortable. The shower was huge and amazing.
The service is of 5-star quality (by American standards), which is rare for Indonesia, even at 5-star hotels. The kitchen staff always creates delicious meals. The food service staff is extremely accommodating and attentive. The cleaning staff does an immaculate job and goes above and beyond. One day, I was searching for a bathing suit in my backpack and afterward, all of my clothes were in a pile on top of my backpack. When I returned to the room, every item of packed clothing had been folded! The laundry service is incredibly speedy and only takes a few hours (which is also rare for Indonesia). Overall, everyone is extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive.
One afternoon I took a private tour with Upik, which was amazing because he is very knowledgeable about the island and I was able to experience Sumbawa outside of the resort. I highly recommend a tour with him during your stay.
I can’t recommend Mocean enough and I will be back again!

My family and I had a fantastic stay with Mocean, big thanks to Mathew and the team, made us feel like we were at home. Quiet, large open spaces, clean rooms, staff were always on point with anything us or the two boys needed and great food.
We didn't dive but just by listening to Mathew sounds like there are some amazing spot close by with access to their boat. Will be on the to do list next time.
