I was here on a the New Year Eve of 2024, given that I booked last min on the most important day of the year, I had paid the surcharged amount (not an issue since it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate NYE at a beautiful place in Sumatra).
However, the service I received was underwhelming. Staff were shifting their reception to The newly renovated reception. The staff were too engrossed in their tasked that they simply ignored me when I wanted to check in. The receptionist just handed me a key with no welcoming gesture. Even when I checked out it was the same. When I enquired about transportation back to Medan, I wasn't given much help nor they even bothered to help.
The hotel restaurant had a great space but they don't accept card payment. The food was average, the banana fritters was served cold.
The room is actually good, spacious, clean, there's Netflix (no need sign in). This was the highlight. There is an observation deck which allows you to overlook the beautiful Toba lake.
Location wise absolutely right in front of the jetty where people ride on the boat to Samosir island. Our room is on the old wing. Lots of steps and long walk to room 135 but very quiet and cooling. The room itself is spacious with 2 single beds. Just that the interiors are aging. But the spacious and comfortable bed compensate the old room.
If you want new room with elevator, choose rooms in the new building. Right above the reception area. But the room for 2 is smaller in terms of space. But the new building has better shower.
Overall we are happy with our stay here. The staffs are very polite. The food is delicious. If you are still hungry at night, order room service. Price is very reasonable.
Overall, we will pick this hotel again if we come here in the future.

The hotel looked decent and clean, with bright lighting throughout. There’s a live singing band at the dining area, which adds a nice atmosphere, and it also offers a view of Lake Toba.
