Reviews of Cemare Cottage
Cemare Cottage on Lombok is without a doubt the most special and beautiful guesthouse on the island. From the moment you arrive, you feel that this is not just a place to stay — it is a place with heart, vision, and deep care for the world around it.
The owner is truly extraordinary. Her dedication to animals is inspiring; she cares for them with so much love and responsibility. But what makes Cemare Cottage even more unique is her commitment to the environment. She actively raises awareness among guests — including children — about the enormous impact of plastic pollution in the ocean. Staying here is not only relaxing, it is educational in the most gentle and meaningful way.
The collaboration with TU Delft shows how serious and forward-thinking her mission is. It is rare to find a guesthouse that combines comfort, sustainability, science, and community in such a natural way.
The rooms are spotless — absolutely brand clean — and designed with care and taste. And the location is simply magical: you can step out of your room and dive straight into the sea. Waking up with the sound of the ocean and being able to swim within seconds is an experience you will never forget.
The local people here are some of the kindest and most beautiful souls you will ever meet. Their warmth and authenticity make the experience even richer.
Cemare Cottage is not just accommodation. It is a place that stays in your heart long after you leave.
Good place with very nice staff, good service and food. The room was not in the best condition but it is typical in Lombok standards. It was large and had good basic amenities (a/c, kettle, hanger…). We had grill fish for dinner and it was great. The breakfast in the stay was also very good. They organize snorkeling trip to Secret Gilis (nanggu, tangkong, sudak) right from the hotel.

The accommodation is really nice and clean and all the staff are super friendly. The Cottage is right by the beach.
The only issue I’m having is that they are exploiting turtles and frame it as species protection. Turtle eggs are being hatched and on their way to the water the baby turtles are being collected to then be released by tourists for a fee/ donation weeks or months later. Some turtles are raised to grow bigger but have to live in tiny buckets. If you would like to hold baby turtles, this place is great. But if you don’t want to support people’s interference with wildlife, I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here.
