An Unexpected Gem in Garut.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Cahaya Villa Hotel in Garut, a place I had no particular expectations for but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Here's a comprehensive review of my experience at the hotel.
Pros:
1. Smooth Booking: I made my reservation through Agoda, and I was pleasantly surprised by the competitive prices they offered, especially given the fantastic facilities the hotel provides.
2. Convenient Location: Situated just 30 minutes from the city, Cahaya Villa Hotel offers a tranquil setting, ideal for a peaceful staycation.
3. Family-Friendly: The property is not too vast, making it perfect for a family staycation, even if you're staying in different types of rooms or villas.
4. Clean and Well-Maintained: The villa I stayed in was spotless, and they diligently maintained the private pool in the bathroom. The hot water was consistently perfect. The pool is quite large, so it takes a 2-3 hours to fill it using the hot tap.
5. Public Pool: The public swimming pool's water was pleasantly warm, and the presence of a children's slide added an extra layer of enjoyment.
Cons:
1. Inefficient AC: The air conditioning in the room was not as cold as I had hoped for. It sometimes felt cooler outside at night. I had to request an extra key to ensure the AC stayed on throughout the day.
2. Limited Toiletries: Considering that one of the highlights of the villa is the private hot pool, the hotel should provide larger quantities of shampoo and soap, rather than tiny bottles. Although the staff promptly replenished them upon request, this should be standard.
3. Breakfast Quality: The breakfast, while offering a variety of options, was only average in taste. It could be improved to match the rest of the hotel's quality.
4. Service in Cafe & Restaurant: The service in the cafe and restaurant could be more organized. There were times when I had to wait and fetch my own food from the station because staff members were not readily available.
5. Customer Service Experience: This was my most significant disappointment. I had interactions with a staff member named Sandy R Arghawijaya before my stay, and his lackluster and somewhat rude responses almost discouraged me from booking. He also failed to reply to my requests before my visit. A proper lesson in hospitality would greatly benefit him, as it marred an otherwise enjoyable stay.
In conclusion, my time at Cahaya Villa Hotel was a delightful surprise, and despite a few areas for improvement, it remains a highly recommended destination for a serene getaway. I look forward to returning, hoping to witness enhancements in the AC efficiency, toiletry provisions, and overall customer service, ensuring an even more delightful experience during my next visit.
