We have actually not gone there. The booking is extremely difficult and the boat transfer a total rip off! They want like 600 usd for 2 people in a local small boat. Those boats are available everywhere in Indonesia for 50 usd for a full day. And this is just a 3 h use. So basically they try to fool “stupid tourists”. I hate that kind of behavior so I can only disrecomment this place. Plus the fact others say it is run down as well…
First, let me start by describing the island. The beach was undeniably beautiful, and the huts looked appealing from the outside.
We had booked the resort with a package that included food, transportation, and other amenities. Having traveled extensively in Indonesia, staying in both modest accommodations and more established hotels, we had a clear understanding of the level of service we could expect for the price we paid. Up until this resort, we had always received excellent service in every other place we visited in the country.
However, this experience fell far below our expectations. The image on the website showing someone serving on the beach was misleading—we had to carry our own chairs to the beach. Furthermore, the restaurant shown on the website was not the one we were brought to upon arrival. After an exhausting eight-hour journey, we were led to a dimly lit restaurant that had an unpleasant smell reminiscent of urine. Upon requesting to dine at the restaurant we had seen advertised, we were eventually allowed to do so. However, when we went there for breakfast the following morning, we found the floors dirty, the roof damaged, and rain dripping onto one of the tables.
At first glance, the room appeared nice. However, upon closer inspection, the bed had stains and was damp, and the shower floor was filthy. We had to request a room change due to these unacceptable conditions.
Additionally, the service left much to be desired.

This is a challenging review to write. All the other reviews were spot on… by each persons perspective. Compared to other resorts that are high end and their price, this place is pricey. We paid around $850 per couple for three days and two nights. But… it included a driver from Jakarta (2.5 hours) and a speed boat for 2.5 hours. The boat stayed there the whole time and was used for our private sunset trip and snorkeling.
I would compare Nikki Peucang to a camping trip. If you aren’t open to camping, don’t go. Not like it’s REALLY camping. The huts are nice enough, but spartan. And the bathrooms, which are completely outdoors. The shower though, out of a bamboo pole, was hot and delicious!
The beds are OK, that’s all. There is a fan that lows on you at night, no A/C (it’s camping, remember).
The staff is very kind. No, they don’t bring you cocktails. It is a minimal staff. The food, however, is simple but wonderful. And plentiful! The place is very natural, though we spent a lot of time picking up trash. Yeah, that’s what I do. Deer run around, Macaque monkeys are funny but aggressive. Snorkeling around the island is very nice.
I’m glad I went, though I don’t think I would head back. The trip was very long and bumpy, and though relaxing, it was a bit much. There were a couple other groups who were staying there…. Larger groups who ate in the main dining room. We were eating alone in the banquet room.
