Buton Backpacker Lodge

The people at buton were extremely friendly, breakfast and dinner were both delicious and local cuisine. The rooms were super tidy and clean and everything was accounted for. Definitely a recommendation when visiting bandung!

This is such a fine hostel! I had a very nice experience there from the day I arrived, till I had to leave.
First of all, everything is clean, they offer free breakfast (also when you wake up in the afternoon), they even gave everyone a free dinner when I arrived, but especially, the staff is sooo super friendly and helpful!
They have nice recommendations as well and if you have a problem or coming short in cash when you want to extend for example, they always have a solution. They love it when the group of guests is getting along well.
The staff is what I will not forget. Their friendlyness, sinscere smiles and even the interest in who you are and what you want to do, and the openness about everything in life. Especially the conversations I had with Iwan were so interesting. Glad I met you man! If I come back to Bandung I will sure come back here to Buton!

This place is not for me. Too much gedebag gedebug/noisy when I want to sleep. Fortunately, just had 1 night stay here. Bathrooms is quite disappointing. The hot water, just come for 5 minutes and then gone. Also my bed is not full covered by curtain, so others can see me sleep (without a shirt) LOL. So I make my own curtain with a towel. 🤣 Beside the bedroom, it was very homey. This place could be your choice when you arrive at Bandung station at night and only intend to sleep. The location is very strategic, walking distance from Bandung station and close to many food places and souvenirs. The Kartika Sari souvenir center is on the same street as this hostel.

Located in a pretty run down house with super basic facilities. Cleanliness could be improved big time. Uncomfortable and dark living room.

Very nice place for a super cheap price. The location is also really close. Only 7 minutes walk from the station. Suitable for transit or backpacking hotel. The room is clean and not so tight. I am 170cm tall and still have enough room. I can even work with my laptop inside the capsule room. The toilet is also quite clean. There is also a shower. The have prayer room but only fit for 1 person. They also have a locker to put your stuuf safely.

The lodge is clean and quiet. The capsule beds are the best set-up I have seen outside Japan: door, fan, soft and bright lights, shelf and socket. But the mattresses are thin foam, not very comfortable. The manager, Ibu Rosa, is pleasant and helpful. The location, only 6 minutes walk from the train station, on a quiet side street. There were no meals served during my stay.
I booked a single room on booking. Com. When I arrived it turned out to be a capsule in a dormitory. I have contacted booking. Com but they have not corrected this misinformation. The lodge is not easy to find. There is only a small sign saying Buton on the street, no indication that it provides accommodation. I suspect that the owner wants to discourage walk-ins and control the money flow.

I know this hostel was famous back then, and Pandemic might changed it. Satisfied with my pod / capsule bed, but they turn off water at 01am, and unstable internet connection. That irritated me most.
Location near train station, staffs are nice. Free water and you can use the kitchen. Clean place, with big toilet & hot shower is good.

This capsule hotel exceed my expectation. Not only they have plenty facilities like dishwasher, pantry, free coffee and tea, locker room, and hot shower, but more importantly their staffs were helpful and friendly. The capsule itself is quite small, maybe smallest compared to some capsule hotels I tried, but it's comfy for a backpacker for rest after a long trip. I think this place can be more comfy and satisfying for its customers, since they have such advantage on location.

This hotel is definitely worth the price. I stayed in one of the twin rooms and it was very clean even though it is a backpacker hostel. The room is simple and basic but for the price this place is a bargain.
The bathroom was also clean and the hot water was working very well. They only provide basic soap and shampoo, so I would recommend to bring your own toiletries.
The hotel staff were all super friendly so that was also very nice. They will help you in case you need recommendations on where to go sightseeing and where to find food. They will also help you book tours and transport to other cities.
For breakfast they provide chocolate cornflakes, white bread and jam and fried rice. The fried rice was very tasty and I love it. There is also a free flow of tea, coffee and water throughout the day. There is a shared kitchen in which you can cook but you have to wash your own dishes.
Overall a nice experience and I would stay here again when in Bandung.

Everything about this place was great.
I spent 3 nights here. When I went in I was greeted warmly and shown to my bed. Danny, the guy working at the reception on the day shift, was also kind enough to recommend places to go to and things to do in the area.
They have capsule beds, and while there’s not a lot of space, they’re comfortable. Each dorm has 6 beds and a large shared bathroom, with hot water. The spaces are kept very clean.
There’s a common room with some tables, chairs and sofas next to the kitchenette where breakfast is served. This is a great place to hang about with other guests in the hostel, and I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of great people from around the world here.
Every morning for breakfast the lady who runs the place makes Nasi Goreng, and some other delicacies like spring rolls or tempeh. There’s also bread, butter, jam, Nutella and tea and coffee.
The hostel has a group of drivers on call and you can book a tour with them to Kawa Putih with them. It costs IDR 430, 000 pp and lasts the whole day. You get to go to the crater, have lunch their afterwards (not included in the price, you pay for your own lunch) go to a nice hot spring and have a bath, and see a tea plantation nearby. Verga, our driver, was quite friendly and ever so helpful.
If you’re in Bandung, this is definitely a great place to stay. It’s close to the city center and the train station, but on a quiet street. Highly recommended.

Stayed here on their private twin room with private bathroom at 2nd floor. First impression entering their main area, cozy! they have a spacious, cozy and very clean main area with indoor-outdoor seating, large kitchen area, a sofa with TV and mini garden with green lushes.
— Room : my private room was sufficient in size and clean enough, a very comfy bed and pillow, TV and a very good internet connection (this is so important right? )
— Bathroom : spacious and clean! Their hot shower worked very well. Clean towel also provided with minimum bath amenities (only shampoo and soap).
— Main area : as mentioned, cozy and clean. They provided a breakfast buffet with a quite varied selection for a hostel class! Fried rice, cereal+milk, bread&jam and some traditional snack.
— Guest service : excellent! their staff are very helpful and nice.
— Surroundings : location is okay within walking distance to main road (about 5-10 minutes walk), quite city center and nearby some places, food etc. They also provide bike/motorbike rental at certain price. But for those who bring a car, the parking space is very limited.
For hostel class, I would say this place is above average and worth to try and very worth their reasonable price. I haven't try their bunk bed type so couldn't say much about it for now. Overall I would recommend this place so much and will be coming back. No wonder they have a "serious" ratings and reviews everywhere :)
