The Packer Lodge - Hostel

Stayed for 2 nights in a private double bed room. The hostel itself is very nice with clean bathrooms and with very friendly staff! However the room has a bad smell! Like moldy wet towel smell and it got worse when we turned the ac on I think. And the Wi-Fi barely works only if your lucky : (
And the building blocks your service so I couldn’t even use my service when the Wi-Fi was not working.
Other than those two issues it was a decently food hostel with great common areas and a nice cafe downstairs.

Awful attitude from the receptionist woman 4.11. No pleasant customer service. Can't recommend. Also bunch of men hanging outside of the hostel didn't feel comfortable.

I was gonna be a guest but you were gonna charge me more than Hostelworld would've which makes no sense since Hostelworld takes commission. Everywhere else it's possible to make a reservation for a better price when booking directly from the hostel itself rather than using third parties. The receptionist also tried to lie to me because after I showed the room price from my phone screen, she typed something on the computer and after that she tried to show me a "new room price" which was higher than the one I have on my screen. Go somewhere else — there's plenty of nice hostels in Jakarta with lovely staff! My review is just as valid as anybody elses would be since I visited your hostel and this is the image you gave me. Is this how you talk to everyone who's trying to book a room from you? The receptionist was extremely rude and I have never had that issue anywhere else in Indonesia. I'm not surprised when I saw other reviews mentioning her as well. Avoid this place!

Would like to talk about the rooms but we didn’t get the chance to. We booked 2 nights there but when we arrived, they asked for our physical passports that we didn’t have because we are living in Yogyakarta and not carrying them around. We showed our KITAS, but they were really unwilling to find a solution and about as friendly as a prison door. We finally had to cancel the booking and didn’t get a refund, which is quite unfair.

I only stayed one night so I won't be able to say much about the atmosphere. Yet, short my stay there met all my expectations: the room (single ensuite) was not that small (compared to the pictures), clean and quiet. There is also a small cafe downstairs which is perfect and the neighborhood is pretty nice for walk.

It is clean and comfortable, but please check the gaps in the walls in the bed sharing room. There are lots of bed bugs. My neck was bitten and covered in bumps.

We stayed in the family room for 4. Very spacious and clean. The bathroom was HUGE. You can literally take a nap on the sink counter. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I wish I could leave a 5 star rating, but I had an issue with their washing detergent 🥲 Everything from the towels to bedsheet to the blankie smelled so stronged it was unbearably nauseating for me. If that isn't an issue for you, definitely a great place to stay.

Great location and easy to find. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and I was overall very satisfied.
The small café right next to the hostel is a great place to connect with other travelers and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
One minor downside: the "gym" could use an upgrade — it’s really just a bench press, a few dumbbells, and a yoga ball. Not quite a full gym.
Still, a great place to stay in Jakarta. Would definitely recommend!

This was by far my favourite accomodation during my entire month in Indonesia. The price is very reasonable and it is a good hostel. There is a hot shower (though in the private rooms doesnt stay warm for long) and the airco works great. There is a very good cafe downstairs with good coffee, drinks and food. But the staff is what sets it apart. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. They also organise multiple tours, we took a food tour from one of the owners and not only did we see a lot, he was also really fun to talk with and we learnt a ton. We also did the Baduy tour which was amazing. Really recommend.

I got a private room as it was so cheap. Comfy bed, AC and ensuite! I would suggest a proper duvet/bedding rather than a blanket.
Decent location close to China town & old town. So handy to have a coffee shop connected to the hostel, perfect for the morning!
Not very busy or sociable but that’s not the hostels fault!

The Packer Lodge — Amazing hostel to scape the chaos and hot Jakarta. The location is not the best, but the facilities of this hostel are amazing, the common areas are great for socialising or chilling watching movies, the restaurant is great and they have a gym that you can use for a quick workout.

Good location and friendly staff. My room was incredibly noisy due to only having a ‘grate’ rather than a proper window, so sleep wasn’t amazing. Totally get that Jakarta is a busy city so def don’t expect silence, but worth checking out different rooms before committing.

The hostel was absolutely amazing, comfiest bed ever and so much space in the ‘pod’. Great lockers and a curtain for privacy.
They had advertised that they stream the premier league, champions league and la liga but we were not there on the right day to watch but an amazing thing for a hostel to do.
Just a shame as we were leaving I saw a bird in a cage which just seems a really sad way to end our trip.

The hostel is clean, comfortable and there are lots of guests from various countries so you can make new friends. Next to it there is a coffee shop which is comfortable for hanging out and all the menus are delicious.!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Everything seemed fine until I spent 1 night there and woke up with my whole body full of bedbug bites. My whole body itched so much and the bites went away after one week. During all these time it was very annoying and painful. I of course left the hostel and told them about my problem but they didn’t seem to care. Do not stay in this hostel if you want low hygiene conditions.

This hostel is such good value! Booked a private room for my partner and I, the room was clean and had great AC! Bathrooms are all clean and well maintained. The atmosphere here was really nice too, was able to hang and chat with a friend I caught up with in Jakarta and also had a few good chats with others staying at the hostel. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay somewhere on a budget and I would definitely return myself! The staff are very friendly and helpful, they have a laundry service which is super convenient too!

Clean and comfy place with a good value for the money you pay. Also they had very good food options for little money. Sadly no water dispenser and the Wi-Fi was quite bad.

I was only there for 1 night before heading out from Jakarta, but liked the hostel. Nice and clean with helpful staff. Good value for money.
