The room is spacious and clean, with a cozy bathroom. Although the building has an old feel to it, it still holds up well. The breakfast selection was quite good. However, the lighting in the lobby could be improved, as it feels a bit dark and has a musty smell reminiscent of an old house.
So I went to Jakarta for a friend's wedding and vacation time. This place I need to report to all of you and be warned do not stay here.
First room full of roaches.
Second room had a rats nest under the mini fridge.
Third and final room my wife starts to take a shower I lay down and turn off the light and start releasing body heat into the bed 🛌
I look up and from the the headrest hundreds of bedbugs are coming towards me.

Hotel Kartika Chandra is one of those classic Jakarta hotels that still holds its charm despite its age. The vibe feels a bit old-school, but in a nostalgic, kinda elegant way. The location is honestly a big win — super strategic in South Jakarta, making it easy to get around the city.
The rooms are spacious and fairly comfortable, though you can tell some parts could use a refresh. Still, everything is clean and functional, so no major complaints. The bed is comfy enough for a good night’s sleep, which is what really matters.
Service-wise, the staff are friendly and helpful, giving that warm Indonesian hospitality that makes you feel welcome. Facilities like the pool and gym are decent, not super modern but still enjoyable. Breakfast is also pretty solid with a good mix of local and international options.
Overall, it’s not the trendiest hotel, but it delivers a comfortable and convenient stay. Worth considering if you value location and space over luxury.
