Mango by Hijau Hostel

Listing says there is free Wi-Fi, while there is no Wi-Fi at all. Staff shows some random broken cord when asked about Wi-Fi and says about ongoing maintenance, while that's not real internet cord in my opinion.
I was offered a room which doesn't match the one I booked (see photo, below and standard), when spoken with owner over the phone, it turned out there was problem with toilet in my room so they tried to move me to lesser one without my knowledge. I was offered upgrade to 3 bed room or just to stay in double I booked and use toilet in other one.
In the middle of the night electricity stopped working, and so the aircon, water, lights etc.
No warm water.
Water pump behind the wall, makes annoying noise all the time.
Location is in the middle of nowhere.

Mango by Hijau hostel is 15 mins walking distance from the train station, which I appreciate it sicne I arrive by train at Banyuwangi Station at quite late. The host, Hady, originally has a hostel in Bali, so he gives a very detailed about Bali sightseeing and transportation. Definitely a big help for me. The room and toilet are clean and the ambiance is cozy, a good place to chill. They also have two adorable cats which is a plus for me.

I booked a stay here while planning my Ijen crater hike and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The hostel is clean, well maintained, and located near the Banyuwangi train station which is very convenient for travelers. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, and it is a good place to rest before the Ijen tour.
The amenities are well thought out for backpackers. There is a shared kitchen for simple cooking, a mini bar, lockers in the rooms, air conditioning, towels, and blankets. The common area has guitars and books which create a nice social vibe. There is also a laundry room which is very helpful for long term travelers.
The noise level is moderate because the hostel is near the main road. It is not completely quiet, but it is not too loud either. It is still comfortable enough to sleep, even before an early morning Ijen hike.
The staff are friendly and always ready to help with information about Banyuwangi, local food, and hidden spots. They arranged my Ijen hike tour and the experience went smoothly from the pickup to the guide. This hostel offers very good value and is one of the best choices for backpackers visiting Banyuwangi.
