A Majestic Renovation, But the Five Star Feeling Still Feels Incomplete.
The Singhasari Resort Batu Malang gives a strong first impression. From the moment I arrived, the renovated lobby immediately stood out. It feels aesthetic, majestic, and visually memorable, with a sense of scale that makes the entrance feel almost cinematic. The architecture, lighting, and refreshed interior create a beautiful arrival moment. There is clearly an effort to make the property look more elevated, and visually, the hotel has potential to become one of Batu’s most charming resort destinations.
However, a beautiful renovation alone does not create a five star experience. The property now has the look, but the feeling of true hospitality still feels incomplete.
The location is also somewhat awkward. Although the hotel is located on the main road between Batu and Malang, it does not really offer much within walking distance. Once outside the property, there is not much to explore comfortably on foot, so guests still need a vehicle to go anywhere. During busy traffic hours, this becomes even more inconvenient. Because of this, the hotel feels less like a destination resort and more like a transit property, which is unfortunate considering its visual ambition and resort positioning.
The biggest concern for me was the hospitality experience. While the property may now look more polished after renovation, the service culture has not yet matched the visual upgrade.
I have holidays with 3 grand children at The Singhasari Resort Batu on 20 December 2025. First I am doubtful because the hotel is not new, then I read the review, and call directly to the hotel, the reservation officer I forgot the name explained clea rlyabout the room category and very nice man.
When I arrived, I like the spacious and nice decorated lobby.
I had premier pool view and add 1 extrabed. I came withe 3 grandchidren and 1 kids helper, so we were 5 persons.
The bedroom and the bathroom are spacious, and well maintan, clean and bright. Only the hair dryer is old hairdryer and it did not work, but then I called the reception and they sent me a portable hair dryer.
My grand daughter left her animal bracelet, perhaps it was dropped behind the bed, then the hotel message me and send it to me by post and I had to pay the delivery cost. Thank you so much, appreciate it.
The breakfast is also nice, The Restaurant' staffs are also proffesional. I have to make reservation to avoid the crowd (there are 3 time slots). The kids under 5 years are free.
Definitely recomend The Singhasari, the rate is good compare to others and most important The Singhasari has excellent staffs who are always easy to help the guests.

We were very disappointed with our stay today.
1. Wrong Bromo tour rate.
We were given a different rate for the Bromo tour than what was actually charged. When we questioned it, there was no clear explanation and very long response via chat. In the end, their staff has make an apology for that. I hope this is not just a word but also following for their improvement in future.
*2. Blamed for a towel*
Instead of resolving issues, staff seemed to blame us for taking a towel. We did not take anything that wasn’t ours. Being accused rather than helped left a really bad impression.
Overall, the lack of accountability and poor guest handling made the trip stressful instead of enjoyable. I would not recommend this hotel if you’re coming for The Singhasari Resort, especially if you expect clear pricing and respectful services.
